Analysis of the market concentration in public procurement markets
Kolorosová, Barbora ; Pavel, Jan (advisor) ; Dufek, Luboš (referee)
This master thesis is focused on the market concentration in six sectors of public procurements in the Czech Republic, and the relationship between level of market concentration, profitability of the companies, final price and number of bids. The analyzed procurements refer to food industry, electricity, postal and telecommunications services, solar energy, IT and automotive sector from period of 2007-2010. Concentration ratio, Herfindahl-Hirschman index and Gini coefficient were used to quantify market concentration. The first four of above mentioned public procurement markets seem to be highly concentrated according to these indicators; the remaining two cases are unconcentrated or moderately concentrated. Correlation analysis was used for each sector. The analyzed variables were: market shares of the companies, their profitability, average number of bids and average proportion of the final and expected price in tenders which the company won. Further, the relationship between market concentration indicators and average variables for the relevant sectors was assessed.

The thesis aims to define the correlation between the international migration flows and economic development and apply the South Korean case on the existing theories of international migration.

SIA determination of nitrites, nitrates and chlorides using valid ISO norms.
Dundová, Aneta ; Sklenářová, Hana (advisor) ; Šatínský, Dalibor (referee)
This diploma work deals with determination of nitrite, nitrate and chloride based on Sequential Injection Analysis methodology following valid ISO norms. CSN EN ISO 11 732 sets method suitable for determination of ammonia nitrogen based on the FIA and CFA techniques in water samples. Determination is based on injecting sample with nitrite and nitrate content into continual flow of the carrier stream, where it is mixed with alkaline solution. Ammonium is separated in diffusion segmentor unit through semi-permeable membrane and is introduced into the flow with pH indicator. In consequences changes of pH values change the indicator color, which is scanned by spectrophotometer. Transfer of the mentioned FIA determination into the SIA system was carried out meeting calibration ranges of the ISO norm. Nitrite was determined directly using the Griess diazo- coupling reaction and the formed azo dye was measured at 540 nm in the flow cell of the spectrophotometer. The calibration curves were linear over the ranges 0,01 - 0,1 mg/l and 0,1 - 1,0 mg/l; correlation coefficients were 0,9979 and 0,9962. Nitrate solution was aspirated to reducing column containing copperised cadmium. After reduction of nitrate into nitrite the sample was aspirated to the holding coil, where it was mixed with the reagent and passed...

Šindelková, Martina ; Polášek, Miroslav (advisor) ; Pospíšilová, Marie (referee)
DETERMINATION OF SEPTONEX IN PHARMACEUTICAL PREPARATIONS USING CAPILLARY ZONE ELECTROPHORESIS WITH CONTACTLESS CONDUCTIVITY DETECTION A new method of capillary zone electrophoresis with contactless conductivity detection for the determination of septonex in pharmaceutical preparations was devised. Optimal conditions for the separation and determination of septonex were: background electrolyte 30mM MES of pH 7.0 (adjusted with 20mM TRIS) containing 12.5mg/ml of (2- hydroxypropyl)-β-cyclodextrin, voltage 25kV, temperature 25řC and sample injection for 15 seconds under the pressure of 50mbar. N,N-dimethylethanolamine (200µg/ml) was used as internal standard. The peak of septonex was satisfactorily separated from the peak of internal standard as well as from the EOF. The analysis was carried out in a fused-silica capillary (internal diameter 50μm, total length 75cm and the length to the detector 45cm). The separation took less than 4 minutes and the overall analysis time involving appropriate rinsing of the capillary was less than 16 minutes. The calibration curve was linear in the range 75µg/ml - 300µg/ml of septonex, correlation coefficient r = 0.9976. The LOD was 9μg/ml and LOQ was 30μg/ml of septonex. Unsuitable repeatability of peak areas of septonex (caused probably by insufficient elimination of...

The Real Options Application on the US Mergers and Acquisitions Market
Hlůže, Martin ; Scholleová, Hana (advisor) ; Kotáb, Jiří (referee)
The diploma thesis covers partial area of investment evaluation. It's main objective is to test the possible application of the real options theory on the Reverse Termination Fee valuation. This thesis considers the Reverse Termination Fee as a real option to abandon project and evaluates it using a binomial pricing model based on the volatility of the stock market. The result of this valuation is a price map. The map itself is analyzed together with the market analysis of announced trades using this fee as a deal protection. The conclusion of this thesis is formed based on observed trends and correlation between partial outputs of the binomial pricing model and market analysis.

Ekonomická sladěnost České republiky s eurozónou ve světle finanční krize
Hájek, Jan ; Mertlík, Pavel (advisor) ; Cingl, Lubomír (referee)
This paper deals with the issue of synchronization of the Czech economy and the economy of the eurozone. The OCA theory which is key theoretical basis for the analysis contained in the paper is briefly described in the first part. In the second part cyclical and structural synchronization is evaluated by the means of correlation coefficients of the development of GDP, industrial production, inflation and interest rates. The obtained results show sufficient level of synchronization, impacts of the financial crisis also rather contributed to the current level of synchronization. Arguments for and against synchronization are discussed in the third part as well as mutual dependency of the both economies. Two quarters time lag of the Czech GDP growth rate behind the eurozone is discovered in the pre-crisis period. At the end OCA- index for the Czech Republic is recalculated, the value of the OCA-index for the Czech Republic is the lowest among tested countries.

Electoral Geography of Poland After 1989
Šulc, Jan ; Mlejnek, Josef (advisor) ; Kubát, Michal (referee)
The rigorous thesis Electoral Geography of Poland After 1989. The Spatial Dimension of the Results of Presidential Elections and Elections to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland explores the spatial distribution of patterns of electoral behavior in Poland on the basis of analysis of the results of all presidential elections and elections to the Sejm that took place in the country between the years 1990-2011. The main hypothesis tested in this rigorous thesis is that former boundaries between Russia, Prussia (Germany) and Austria (Austria-Hungary), between which the territory of modern-day Poland was divided in the 19th century, still have an impact on Poland's electoral geography. On the basis of this hypothesis political parties and presidential candidates are divided into two pre-defined categories: traditionalist and modernist. The validity of the hypothesis is then proven by visual analysis of political parties' and presidential candidates' electoral maps, and also by the application of Pearson's correlation coefficient on political parties' electoral results from constituencies and presidential candidates' electoral results from voivodships. In contemporary Poland a clear rift exists between the parts of the country formerly dominated by Prussia (Germany) and major Polish cities on the one hand (also...

We also counted in the sprinting tests the regression quadratic enabling the prediction ofan achievement with the anticipation ofhigh correlation. Results: We are described here the dependence of individua! motoric tests on chosen discipline and completed...

Succession of mollusk assemblages in quarries of Bohemian Karst
Kocurková, Alena ; Juřičková, Lucie (advisor) ; Horsáková, Veronika (referee)
Molluscan succession was studied in 18 abandoned limestone quarries of different age in Bohemian Karst. The number of species in studied quarries increases in the time. The less species were found in the oldest quarries. This trend was probably caused by habitat diversity decline although it is not conclusive. The best predictors of mollusk species composition are type of surrounding vegetation, light and the cover of tree layer. It is important to take into account correlations of the other environmental variables with light and the cover of tree layer. Compositions of mollusk assemblages of north and south-facing slopes differ, but these differences diminish with ongoing succession. Quarries represent suitable model sites for the study of succession.
