Impact of partial alcohol prohibition in the Czech Republic on the retail market with alcoholic beverages

September 2012 had become known as a synonym for the methanol scandal in the Czech Republic during which over a hundred of individuals were hospitalized and several dozens of the patients died. This all occurred due to the ingestion of the adulterated alcohol. Whereas partial and time-limited prohibition which restricted the sales of alcoholic beverages with the alcohol content of 20 per cent and higher, was enforced in the Czech Republic from 14th to 27th September 2012. Due to further emerging poisonings in recent years is the topic of the methanol poisonings still relevant. The aim of the diploma paper is to depict the harm reduction strategies targeted on reducing the risks of the methanol poisonings used by the vulnerable target group of the alcoholic beverages consumers. Further are being outlined the risk behavior patterns and strategies in the targeted group of participants. According to the above mentioned aims is relevant to investigate the process of compliance of the emergency measures focused on the end market with the alcohol. Patterns of mephedrone use in Kadaň and its surroundings: a qualitative study

Background: In few last years we can see a rise of use of a new psychoactive substances, not only in population of problem users, but in the general population, too. These substances mimic the affects of illegal drugs and using them can cause simmilar risks as using illegal drugs (EMCDDA, 2009c). The most commonly used new psychoactive substance is mephedrone. In last 4 years mephedrone has spread very fast in the european drug market, especially in Great Britain (Zaostřeno na drogy 4, 2010), where mephedrone became the 6th most popular drug in 2010 (Kuchař in Kalina et al., 2015). Prevalence researches of mephedrone have not been realized yet in Czech republic, but research made by National monitoring center focused on internet users in 2001 shows that from 1091 respondents in age range of 15 to 35, 50 have used new psychoactive substances. This 50 respondents and other 101 recruited by snowball sampling have participated in follow-up research, one third of this respondents have used mephedrone. Problem drug use in the Prague's quarter without functioning specialised harm reduction programme

The bachelor paper undertakes a topic of problem drug use, it's development, nature, range of consequences for individuals and the society. It's focused onrecentsituation inproblem drug use in the Czech Republic and Prague, onwork of low-threshold services for problem drug users, drug policy of capital city and particular part of the city. The aim of the research was to analyse the situation of problem drug use in Prague's quarter Michle, where no specialized low-threshold program for drug users is operating. The intention was to find out whether problem drug use exists in the area, what is it's prevalence, patterns, specifics, and whether the low-threshold program is needed. The Rapid Assessment and Response methodologywas used as a method of data collection and analysis - analysis of available data and materials (annual reports of organizations, materials of Prague drug policy) and semi-structured interviews with key informants (problem drug users, representatives of institutions, workers of Prague low-threshold services, locals and informants in the service sector). Marijuana use amongst people older than fifty years and dynamics of rules developed around that usage

Bachelor thesis "The use of marijuana by persons over fifty years and the dynamics of rules developed around this use", which is based on the theory of controlled drug use, focusing on users of marijuana over fifty years. Focusing on their cannabis user career on changing patterns of use over time and with the main focus on rules that arise around the use of cannabis. These rules are then analyzed with focus on their dynamics - from their formation up to the eventual giving up those rules. Three frequently mentioned concepts by interwieved are "drug ", "set" and "setting". They are a major component of the rules and such factors which respondents engaged in efforts to reach a pleasant state of intoxication without negative consequences. To investigate the phenomenon of dynamic of rules around marijuana use, eight qualitative interviews were made (instructed interview) (Hendl 2005). Data were then analyzed using grounded theory method. In the final part of the text is presented dynamics scheme rules with regard to the various intervening conditions.
The incidence and context of alcohol use of persons after spinal cord injury

The topic of this thesis is use of alcohol in people after spinal cord injury, who form a specific group of people with disabilities. Objectives of the research work The objective of this thesis is to describe the incidence and rate of alcohol use in people after spinal cord injury and find any specifics of alcohol use for this target group. As well as describe motives and reasons for alcohol use, specifics of individual diagnoses, find and define health problems related to alcohol use in people after spinal cord injury. Last but not least, find out whether in this specific group individuals with symptoms of harmful alcohol use (alcohol abuse) or addiction to alcohol appear. Sample file Participants of research (sample file) in this thesis are people after spinal cord injury who are members of the civic association CZEPA. The main objective of this association is to defend the rights and interests of people after spinal cord injury and strives for their full integration into society. Methamphetamine use among clients visiting the contact centers in Prague.

AIMS: The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to describe drug-using related behavior patterns of clients of low-treshold facilities in Prague. The thesis is particularly focused on the methamphetamine users. SAMPLE GROUP: The sample group included 58 clients of three Prague contact centers (Sananim, Progressive and Drop-In). The main criteria of inclusion in the sample were the following: the subject visited at least one of the three contact centers in the period during which the study was conducted and they described themselves as mostly-methamphetamine users. Furthermore, clients who did not meet the EMCDDA definition of problem drug use were excluded. METHODS: Anonymous structured questionnaire was used in the survey. The questionnaire was designed solely for the purpose of this survey and the resulting dataset was analyzed by the means of descriptive statistics. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: According to our results, most of problem methamphetamine users, who visit contact centers in Prague, use the drug regularly several times a week. The amount of the drug consumed by a typical problem methamphetamine user seems to be independent of the day of the week and time of the day. Substance use among people with hearing disability: exploration and cerrelation probe

Although there are about 500 000 of people with hearing impairment in Czech republic, a risk group of substance abuse due to determinants of this impairment, there are distinctive lack of studies focused on this theme in our state. There are few foreign studies offering some results, overall interest is still slender in this issue. This work was aimed to define the basic terms and briefly describe difficulties of hearing impairment, psychological aspects and patterns of drug use in hearing impaired population due to available resources and exploration and correlation questionnaire study. The study had a questionnaire form and was spread by snow ball method in first stage, through 8 basic subjects on social network called facebook.com and other forms of mass communication. In the second stage we used a purposeful selection at two schools for the hearing impaired in Prague. Participants were indviduals with more than 20 dB hearing loss (includes) in both cases. Alcohol acquisition among adolescents - a qualitative study among subculture of youth attending night clubs in the region of Central Bohemia

Background: The project is aimed at examining the situation in Říčany u Prahy which is located in the Central Bohemian region. This region has the highest occurrence of usage of alcohol amongst adolescents in the Czech republic. The problem is very topical and is connected with the local subculture of bars and clubs and furthermore the usage of alcohol is connected with other socio-pathological problems. The city leadership is enacting new regulations that aim to improve the complicated situation. Aim: The aim of the project is to identify the patterns of usage of alcohol amongst adolescents in the subculture of clubs and bars in the district of Prague-East (Central Bohemia), find the system of acquisition of alcohol and based on this information contribute to a successful resolution of the situation. Methods: Research was carried out based on qualitative methods - semistructured interviews, coding, categorization and triangulation. These methods were used in order to answer researched questions and find new information.
