Nuclear waste deep repositories in the law
Kasl, Jakub ; Humlíčková, Petra (advisor) ; Žákovská, Karolina (referee)
The thesis deals with nuclear waste deep repositories in the law. With exception of long- term storage the nuclear waste deep repositories represent the only technical solution currently available to deal with the increasing volume of highly radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel. The planning and construction of nuclear waste deep repository entails number of problems and challenges, both from technical and legal perspectives. The thesis aims to describe current legislation regarding the management of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel within the territory of the Czech Republic with a particular focus on planning and construction of a nuclear waste deep repository. There is step by step described procedure of planning and constructing a nuclear waste deep repository under the current legislation. Within this description the author evaluates the current legislation and identifies its major issues. Subsequently, the author reflects on the cause of these issues and proposes their solutions.
Spent nuclear fuel and its properties
Jestřáb, Tomáš ; Řež,, Martina Malá, Centrum výzkumu (referee) ; Katovský, Karel (advisor)
The main goal of this Bachelor’s thesis is to develop fuel depletion models of a nuclear fuel used at Nuclear Power Plant Dukovany – originally designed nonprofiled fuel used in a three-year cycle, inovated profiled fuel used in a four-year cycle and currently used fuel Gd-2M+ used in a five year fuel cycle. Models are created by computational code UWB1 providing fast calculation of nuclear fuel depletion. Outputs of these models are in thesis graphically displayed and analyzed from the point of view of fuel depletion, enrichment or irradiation time spent in reactor core. These analyses are based on theory including information about the nuclear fuel cycle focusing on its middle part and the back end of the nuclear fuel cycle.
Spent fuel storage casks thermal and physical properties investigation
Hlatký, Pavel ; Martinec, Jiří (referee) ; Šen, Hugo (advisor)
This work deals with questions of spent fuel storage casks thermal and physical properties investigation. Foundations of mathematics which are necessary for describing field of temperature are included. The work itself contains calculation methods which are split into two parts. The first one deals with simplified analytic solution and the second part solves the whole problem by the numerical computation.
The Nuclear Power Plant – The Green Source of Energy
Hynčica, Martin ; Vágner, Jiří (referee) ; Vágner, Jiří (referee) ; Matal, Oldřich (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with nuclear energetics and its impact to the environment. Present state of the energetics, mainly nuclear energetics, in the Czech Republic is discussed here. Also perspective of nuclear energetics is given. The thesis describes nuclear power plant waste handling and also spent nuclear fuel handling. Nuclear power plant is compared with other sources of electric energy, which are counted to the energetic mix. The author focuses on fossil fuels and also on the renewable energy sources. The amount of produced waste to the unit of produced energy, built up area, safety and economic indicators and other parameters are followed for each source of energy.
Ways of radioactive materials saving in the Czech Republic and in the world
Polák, Luboš ; Šen, Hugo (referee) ; Nerud, Pavel (advisor)
Management of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste are many. The aim of this thesis was to summarize the attitude of the Czech Republic and the other major countries on this issue. First is given the classification of radioactive waste according to various criteria. Consequently, it is defined and described the fuel cycle, as the largest producer of all types of radioactive waste. Then is analyzed approach of the Czech Republic to the management of all type radioactive waste and the attitude to deep geological repository. At the end are some, in this respect, major countries and their attitude to deal with spent nuclear fuel, radioactive waste and the method of final disposal.
Logistics of radioactive waste
Knapová, Jitka ; Jirsák, Petr (advisor) ; Jiříček, Karel (referee)
The aim of diploma thesis is to analyse the overall technical base and to monitor logistic processes which are from the very beginning associated with radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel. The main emphasis is put on spent nuclear fuel from nuclear power plants. The current situation in this area is illustrated by an example of the Czech Republic and Sweden. The comparison of Czech and Swedish system leads to demonstration of strengths and weaknesses of the used methods.
The issue of the storages of nuclear waste in the Czech Republic and their impact on the environment - influence analysis on the example of the selected locality.
KULICH, Petr
The thesis deals with topical situation concerning deep geological repository in the Czech Republic and the effect on the environment is analyzed within the particular location Březový potok near the municipality Pačejov in Pilsen region. The thesis concerns with the potential impact on the landscape, agricultural production and inhabitants.
Economics of nuclear fuel cycle at NPP Temelin
Kovač, Michal ; Vojáček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Knápek, Jaroslav (referee)
This thesis is focused to the economic analysis of the nuclear fuel strategy change at nuclear power plant Temelin, where the change to 18 months fuel cycle is considered. The introduction of theses is aimed to the identification of direct economic aspects for the financial analysis. Nuclear fuel strategy change affects operation of power plant as a whole and affects production of spent nuclear fuel. Therefore the economic analysis is needed for include all social costs of the change. The conclusion of thesis is aimed to the risk analysis of the nuclear fuel strategy change. Risk analysis is performed by Monte Carlo simulation.
Radioactive wastes and the release of radioactive substances into the environment (learning program)
NOVÁK, Jan
This bachelor thesis, "Radioactive waste and the release of radioactive substances into the environment", is concerned (among others) with nuclear fuel and the biological effects of ionizing radiation. First, it briefly describes the history of this branch in the Czech Republic. Then the work is focused on the effects of ionizing radiation, divided into deterministic and stochastic effects. The work also contains a list of legislative norms regarding the handling of radioactive waste in the Czech Republic and the European Union. Protection of the environment and health against hazardous radioactive waste is at present regulated by several guidelines. The primary objective of this work was to compile a comprehensive basis for presentation to university students on the subject of radioactive waste and its impact on the environment. The concluding discussion presents the author's views on another possible application of e-learning in dealing with this branch of study at the University of South Bohemia.
The system of the safe storing of radioactive waste
NEUMANNOVÁ, Kateřina
We can hardly imagine today{\crq}s modern word of 21st century without usage of nuclear energy and ionizing radiation. We meet them in nuclear energetics, industry, health service and other different fields. Similarly to other human activities even here waste rises {--} radioactive waste which can be dangerous for a man and for the whole environment. Therefore it is very important to deal with it according to existing rules. Radioctive waste rises even in the Czech Republic and that is why an enhanced attention is very necessary here. Therefore I would like to break into these problems as much as I can and I would like to describe these problems in my bachelor work so that everybody is informed about basic information how to deal with radioactive waste in an understandable form. I think that everybody in this country, regardless to their education, should have a basic overview about problems of radioactive waste. I would be very pleased if this bachelor work could help people interested in these problems and if my work is used as an educational material. If readers find new interesting information, my work will be even more useful.
