Organic-inorganic polymers - synthesis and characterization of hybrid polymers and nanocomposites
Depa, Katarzyna ; Strachota, Adam (advisor) ; Matějka, Libor (referee) ; Sedláček, Jan (referee)
In the first part of this work, silica nanoparticles and alternative or additional filler phases were incorporated into hydrogels based on the temperature-sensitive poly(N- isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAm). Nano-SiO2-filled porous PNIPAm hydrogels with an enhanced force response (up to 100 g) to temperature stimuli were obtained by increasing several times the pore wall thickness, which was achieved via reducing the solvent (porogen) content during the gels' cryo-synthesis. A similar optimization of the force response was also carried out for analogous gels reinforced by nano-TiO2, in which the reinforcing effect of the filler is weaker. Partial intercalation of amylopectin starch into divinyl-crosslinked bulk as well as porous PNIPAm gels several times improved their extensibility. In case of starch-rich bulk gels, a very fast and extensive one-way deswelling in response to increased temperature was achieved (re-swelling upon cooling is much slower), which is attributed to specific properties of the starch-PNIPAm interface. In doubly-filled bulk PNIPAm/nano-SiO2/starch gels, a very strong synergic reinforcing effect of both fillers is observed, due to specific hydrogen bridging between the three phases. Highly porous cryogels based on PNIPAm/nano- SiO2/starch displayed a highly improved extensibility...
The Study of the Molecular Structure of Various Forms of Conducting Polymers using FTIR and Raman Spectroscopies
Morávková, Zuzana ; Trchová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Baumruk, Vladimír (referee) ; Matějka, Pavel (referee)
In this Thesis, the structure of thin films formed by a conducting polymer, polyaniline, was studied using mainly infrared and Raman spectroscopies. That led to the study of aniline oligomers. The oligomers play a key role in the formation of thin films and nanostructures of polyaniline. Furthermore, the Thesis deals with the carbonization of various forms of polyaniline (granular polyaniline base, thin films of polyaniline salt, multi-wall carbon nanotubes coated with polyaniline salt or base, polyaniline nanotubes/nanorods prepared in the presence of ethanol). The two topics, aniline oligomers and carbonization of polyaniline, are connected by a paper concerning the carbonization of microspheres formed during oxidation of aniline in alkaline medium. Optical microscopy, transmission and scanning electron microscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, spectroscopic ellipsometry, wide angle X-ray scattering and thermogravimetric analysis were used.

Computational Study of the Interaction and adhesioin energies of polyaniline models with surfaces of the selected materials.
Maixner, Michal ; Burda, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Tokarský, Jonáš (referee)
This work is focused on the properties of polyaniline placed on the model of silicate surface, namely its adhesion energy and spectra of polyaniline with different charge, computed by means of quantum chemistry. Computed spectra were compared with experimental data. The DFT metod ω-B97XD with 3-21G base was used for optimalization of the complex model and for determination of vibrational spectra the DFT metod ω-B97XD with 6-31G(d,p) base was used. Evaluation of the adhesion energy DFT metod ω-B97XD with 6-31G* base was used. The adhesion energy computed by interpolation to infinite polymer was 1,9kcal/mol. Computed Raman spectra was fit to experimental data. Spectrum found by this metod was similar to experimental in some aproximation, but more detail look would reavel some differences caused by not including of enviroment and of interaction between polyaniline
Catalytic synthesis of polyanilines
Bláha, Michal ; Vohlídal, Jiří (advisor) ; Omastová, Mária (referee) ; Trchová, Miroslava (referee)
This Ph.D. thesis is dealing with catalytic polymerization of aniline (ANI) and partially also of substituted anilines with FeCl3/H2O2 catalyst system, in which according to obtained results both active species, Fe3+ and HO , participate in the overall polymerization mechanism, creating a synergic system. The Fe3+ /H2O2 catalyst system, also called Fenton's system can considerably lower contamination of forming neat polyanilines (PANIs) by side-products characteristic of stoichiometric polymerization. However, catalytically prepared PANIs exhibit reduced conductivity related most probably to side reactions involving radicals generated as integral components of the FeCl3/H2O2 system. Catalytic polymerization of ANI with FeCl3/H2O2 system was found to be the reaction of approx. 2nd order with respect to ANI and gives PANIs of a good quality only when [H2O2] in the reaction mixture was kept low, i.e., at under- stoichiometric ratios [H2O2]/[ANI]. At over-stoichiometric ratio [H2O2]/[ANI], PANIs of lowered conductivity, worse spectroscopic characteristics and increased size of PANI nanostructures were obtained; nevertheless, these PANIs were not over-oxidized to pernigraniline state. The reaction-time profiles of the open-circuit potential of reaction mixtures exhibited an inflection related to the...
Studium stejnosměrných a střídavých charakteristik polyanilinu v závislosti na technologii přípravy
Varga, Martin ; Prokeš, Jan (advisor) ; Valentová, Helena (referee)
Our aim in the present work is to provide and evaluate AC and DC characteristics of the polyaniline based materials. Different experiemtal techniques and devices have been used to achieve this goal. An introduction to the theoretical concepts of conductivity is given as well. The core of this thesis is an investigation of temperature and low pressure dependences, as well as the ageing effects for two systems (composites) in respect of the different preparation conditions such as dopants and their molar concentration, origin and the content of inorganic component and the way of polymerisation. An agreement with theoretical models is discussed.
