Simulation of cryptographic algorithms using FPGA
Németh, František ; Mašek, Jan (referee) ; Smékal, David (advisor)
Bachelor thesis is dealing with a cipher standard AES and with a design of encryption and decryption components for AES in special modes of operation. Programming language is VHDL. In theoretical part of thesis is a further descriptions of AES and behaviour of block cipher operation modes. Furthermore the brief description of VHDL, FPGA and NetCOPE framework is a piece of theoretical part as well. The practical part contains designs which are made in developing environment Vivado from Xilinx. Programmed modes of operation are ECB, CBC, CTR and CFB. Simulation outputs and synthesis results are summerized in tables.
Comparison of public key cryptography algorithms
Mareš, Jiří ; Stanovský, David (advisor) ; Žemlička, Jan (referee)
In the present work we study comparison of basic public key encryption algorithms - RSA, Rabin and ElGamel method. We derive theoretic complexity of encrypting / decrypting of one block and we derive an expected model of its behavior with the key of double size. We also take practical measurements of speed of each algorithm using keys sized 64 - 4096 bits and we statistically analyze the results. We also mention special cases of some algorithms and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of their practical usage. At the end of this thesis we make a comparison of the speed of algorithms and we also compare the measured data with theoretical hypothesis.
Automatization of MitM Attack for SSL/TLS Decryption
Marušic, Marek ; Lichtner, Ondrej (referee) ; Pluskal, Jan (advisor)
SSL/TLS are protocols used to encrypt network traffic. They provide secure communication between clients and servers. The communication can be intercepted with MitM attack. This paper is aimed to describe the  automatization of MitM attack and  demonstrate its results. The  automatization is done by MitM probe and a python script, which configures the probe and starts the attack. The script is easy to use, without great effort. It takes care of configuration of the probe, then it starts the tools used for network traffic capture and at last it starts MitM tools to perform the attack. During the MitM attack, users are warned by client applications about insecure connection. The client applications either provide an option to establish a connection anyway or it forbids clients to establish the connection with insecure parameters. In this paper, the users can learn what are SSL/TLS protocols and about a possibility how to intercept the network traffic encrypted by these protocols.
SMS Encryption for Mobile Communication
Lisoněk, David ; Bouška, Petr (referee) ; Drahanský, Martin (advisor)
This thesis deals with encryption of short text message (SMS) in mobile communication. Introduction is dedicated to overview of the parts of GSM radiotelephone nets and SMS messages transfer . Next chapter is reserved for description of cryptographic methods especially symetric and asymetric encryptografic aproaches. A design of a SMS messages encryption and decryption techniques is in next. For SMS encryption and sign, there is used the asymetric cypher RSA. Encryption use OAEP padding schema. The public key is saved in certificate. The Symbian OS has been choosen as a suitable platform for programming of mobile devices.
Protection of highspeed communication systems
Smékal, David ; Martinásek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Hajný, Jan (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with 128–bit AES data encryption and its implementation in FPGA network card using VHDL programming language. The theoretical part explains AES encryption and decryption, its individual steps and operating modes. Further was described the VHDL programming language, development environment Vivado, FPGA network card Combo–80G and configurable framework NetCOPE. The practical part is the implementation of AES–128 in VHDL. A simulation was used to eliminate errors, then the synthesis was performed. These steps were made using Vivado software. Last step of practical part was testing of synthesized firmware on COMBO–80G card. Total of 4 projects were implemented in FPGA card. Two of them were AES encryption and decryption with ECB mode and another two describe the encryption and decryption with CBC mode.
Security risks of wireless access networks
Špidla, Milan ; Hošek, Jiří (referee) ; Polívka, Michal (advisor)
Master´s thesis „Security risks of wireless access networks“ deals with wireless access networks, which are the most widespread in this time. The main target is realization of attacks wireless access networks protected by various using methods. This thesis shows main securities gaps, which originate from project this networks. These securities gaps are used for realization attacts in practical part. In the next part I took attention of network´s monitoring possibilities.
Software support for cryptography education
Stančík, Peter ; Vyoral, Josef (referee) ; Burda, Karel (advisor)
The main aim of this thesis was to study, choose and decribe techniques eligible for cryptography education. A pedagogically appropriate presentation for the selected techniques' principles was to be chosen. Another goal was to create an integrated modular web interface containing a calculator focused on cryptographic operations. The eligibility of techniques was assessed accordingly to the computing processes implied by these techniques and also accordingly to the ability of being presented in an illustrative way. A program simplifying calculations used in symetric and asymetric cryptography was designed and implemented. It disposes of a web interface and one of its parts is focused on steganographic techniques. On the other hand, any pedagogically appropriate presentation interconnecting this program with theoretical findings from this field was not found.
RSA Algorithm and Its Use in Electronic Communication with State Authorities
FROULA, Stanislav
This bachelor thesis focuses on the RSA algorithm and it's use in electronic communication. The RSA algorithm is curently one of the most widely used asymmetric encryption algorithms. It was first publicly described in 1977 by the mathematicians Ron Rivest, Adi Shamir, and Leonard Adleman. It's the first algorithm that is suitable for both electronic signature and public key encryption. The theoretical part explains all related concepts of cryptography. The basic operating principle of the algorithm is described in specific simplified example. It also includes a description of public key encryption and a list of institutions, which use digital signature to verify authenticity of the sender. The practical part focuses on a questionnaire survey, which investigates the awareness level of internet banking users in term of security of using internet banking and following the security policy recommended by banks. The results are analysed and evaluated at the end of the thesis.
Analysis and implementation of application for digital currency Bitcoin
DRDÁK, František
The thesis is focused on the topic of virtual cryptocurrency Bitcoin. The theoretical part is divided into several chapters. First of all, there is a chapter containing basic information about the currency's history, its development to the present, as well as principles of operation of this currency. Because it is a currency based on cryptographic principles next chapter summarizing cryptographic techniques, which is necessary to know for subsequent analysis of this currency. In other parts is elaborated a detailed analysis of the principles of Bitcoin. The main point of this analysis is a system of transactions, decentralized history, then joining the transactions into blocks and in the end creating blockchain. It also explains the principle of P2P networks. The practical part of this work focuses on the analysis and design of payment applications for mobile devices. There used open-source libraries such BitcoinJ. The application is developed in Java programming language with plugin for portable devices, which work under the operating system Android. For the purposes of analysis and design of graphical user interface is used UML diagrams. The specification of the UML diagrams was utilized by freely available graphics software and the result is also included in this work.
One-Time Pad Implementation
KOPECKÝ, Petr
The text is oriented to generation of random numbers of cryptographic quality and to performing statistical methods such as Diehard test to verify them. The data obtained this way are used in implementation of one-time pad for maximizing security of message encryption. The problems that may occur and need to be dealt with are also noted. The final part of the text includes suggestions for future one-time pad implementations and the final results that author came to.
