Testing of Various Databases for Genealogy
Dvořák, Jan ; Kočí, Radek (referee) ; Rozman, Jaroslav (advisor)
The aim of this work is to design and create database structures appropriate to keep genealogical data. Data are generated by a self-created script using information from publically available resources. Individual databases are being compared with each other and wheather they are suitable to save genealogical data or not. Databases MySQL and Neo4j were used for the solution.
Distributed Big Data Processing on the Java Platform
Tutko, Jakub ; Rychlý, Marek (referee) ; Burget, Radek (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the distributed Big Data processing on the Java platform, together with graph databases. It analyses several graph database distributions and the possibilities to connect them to the Apache Hadoop system for distributed data processing. For the purpose of testing database solutions effectiveness, the thesis outcome is an application, which is downloading data from social networks Twitter and Facebook. It is able to write and analyse data with two different database frameworks which are Halyard and HGraphDB.
Design of Graph Database Based on Relational Database
Schwertschal, Jiří ; Klusák, Aleš (referee) ; Luhan, Jan (advisor)
The content of my bachelor thesis is the design of converting SQL database meant for reservating systém to the graph database. The thesis is divided into theoretical part, where I provided information needed to create the design. In the second part I made analysis of the current situation. And in the end in the last part is designed solution.
Java AST Query Language
Bílek, Jiří ; Matula, Peter (referee) ; Křivka, Zbyněk (advisor)
The purpose of this thesis is to design a Java AST query language and implement tool that uses the query language. This work overviews graph databases and their libraries with focus on Neo4J and Titan. This thesis overviews tools Java bytecode analysis as well. Libraries Procyon and BCEL are described in detail. The work includes a proposal the query language and detailed description of the tool implementation, together with the detailed description of the way how Java entities are stored into the graph databases. In the end, the work deals with experiments and the evaluation of the time complexity of the library.
Visualization of the MBI data
Syrovátka, Adam ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Pour, Jan (referee)
The topic of this master's thesis is to design and implement a web application for visualization of relationships between the MBI objects in order to deliver additional functionality to the web portal of MBI - Management of Business Informatics. The first part introduces the concept of MBI and ranks the functionality of the MBI web portal from the view of user queries and visualization capabilities. The queries which are identified as the most difficult are set as the primary functional request for the new web application. The second part contains the design and implementation of the web application. Both functional and non-functional requirements are specified, including the design of user interface and visual graph searching. Based on these requirements, a suitable application architecture is selected together with a graph database and suitable query library and visualization library. The application is implemented with the selected technologies and tested against the initial requirements. The last part includes a service manual and a user documentation which describes the complete application functionality and provides a use case scenario.
Introduction and use of graph databases
Hřivna, Jan ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Tomášková, Barbora (referee)
The aim of this Bachelor thesis is to introduce the conception and uses of graph databases. The thesis is split into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part describes main principles of graph databases with focus on providing exact and detailed explanations. The practical part presents practical operations and particular solutions for the queries run in the Neo4j graph database system by Cypher query lanugage. Information was collected from reliable and published primary and secondary sources. Furthermore in the practical part, the actual Neo4j database was installed on local server. This database can be accesed and commands can be executed through graphic user interface.
Possibilities of using database Neo4j
Konoshenko, Evgeny ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Tomášková, Barbora (referee)
The theme of bachelor work is NoSQL graph database Neo4J. The main objective of this work is to describe the key features Neo4J and show a practical example of how to work with this system. To achieve this objective were studied books, internet resources which relate to this topic and official documentation for the database system. The contribution of this work consists in dismantling work with Neo4J through different tools and defining use cases that database. After reading the practical part of the work reader would be able to understand the basics of working with database system Neo4J. The theoretical part focuses on the detailed analysis of the database system Neo4J, specifies terms NoSQL and graph database, defines the place of Neo4J in NoSQL databases, provides the possibility of using Neo4J in practice. In the practical part are presented examples of work with the system Neo4J, is shown the usage of query language Cypher, REST API and web interface Webadmin.
NoSQL databases
Mrozek, Jakub ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Bruckner, Tomáš (referee)
The topic of this thesis is NoSQL databases and is mainly focused on presenting the most common types of NoSQL databases and their use. This text assumes that the reader is sufficiently familiar with the basic principles of NoSQL databases and is aimed at helping the reader to find their way through a number of NoSQL databases that are currently available on the market. The main objective is to provide readers with a guide for choosing the right database solution for the particular problem they are trying to solve. The work is divided into two main parts. In the theoretical part, the reader will find basic information about the types of NoSQL databases. The most widely used representatives, including examples of work with databases, will be presented in detail. In the practical part, the reader will find a comparison of several representatives in the category of NoSQL databases.
The proposal of application development process for Linked Open Data
Budka, Michal ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Bruckner, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis deals with the issue of Linked Open Data. The goal of this thesis is to introduce the reader to this issue as a whole and to the possibility of using Linked Open Data for developing useful applications by proposing a new development process focusing on such applications. The theoretical part offers an insight into the issue of Open Data, Linked Open Data and the NoSQL database systems and their usability in this field. It focuses mainly on graph database systems and compares them with relational database systems using predefined criteria. Additionally, the goal of this thesis is to develop an application using the proposed development process, which provides a tool for data presentation and statistical visualisation for open data sets published by the Supreme Audit Office and the Czech Trade Inspection. The application is mainly developed for the purpose of verifying the proposed development process and to demonstrate the connectivity of open data published by two different organizations. The thesis includes the process of selecting a development methodology, which is then used for optimising work on the implementation of the resulting application and the process of selecting a graph database system, that is used to store and modify open data for the purposes of the application.
Application of graph database for analytical tasks
Günzl, Richard ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Daněk, Lukáš (referee)
This diploma thesis is about graph databases, which belong to the category of database systems known as NoSQL databases, but graph databases are beyond NoSQL databases. Graph databases are useful in many cases thanks to native storing of interconnections between data, which brings advantageous properties in comparison with traditional relational database system, especially in querying. The main goal of the thesis is: to describe principles, properties and advantages of graph database; to design own convenient graph database use case and to realize the template verifying designed use case. The theoretical part focuses on the description of properties and principles of the graph database which are then compared with relational database approach. Next part dedicates analysis and explanation of the most typical use cases of the graph database including the unsuitable use cases. The last part of thesis contains analysis of own graph database use case in which several principles are defined. The principles can be applied separately. There are crucial analytical operations in the use case. The analytical operations search the causes with their rate of influence on amount or change in the value of the indicator. This part also includes the realization of the template verifying the use case in the graph database. The template consists of the database structure design, the concrete database data and analytical operations. In the end the returned results from graph database are verified by the alternative calculations without using the graph database.
