The Cyprus Conflict in Greek-Turkish Relations: Implications for the EU and NATO

The main focus of the master thesis is on the emergence, development and current state of the Cypriot conflict in regard to the broader Greek-Turkish relations. Special attention is being drawn to the consequences which this problem causes to the cooperation of Greece and Turkey as its secondary actors and to their involvement in the main European integration projects - the European Union and NATO. The first chapter deals with a historical analysis of Greek-Turkish relations as well as with selected theoretical aspects of the Cypriot conflict - nationalism and conflict typology. The second chapter observes the inclusion of the European Union in relations with all the subjects to the conflict in Cyprus, with regard to the current trends in international political and economic environment shaping those relations. The following chapter describes the role the Cyprus conflict has in terms of NATO-EU cooperation in creating the European security architecture. The final part summarizes the findings and, based on them, draws a model depicting the mutual links among the subjects concerned with the situation in Cyprus and their character.

The purpose of the bachelor thesis is a description and analysis of mutual Turkish-EU relations. Turkey is introduced from a geographical, political and economic point of view. Important historical milestones, which have played a crucial role in the development of this country and it's integration process aiming towards EU membership, are mentioned as well. The thesis reflects attitudes of selected EU member states towards Turkey, primarily the relationship of neighbouring Greece. Arguments for and against Turkey joining the EU are presented in this thesis, attention is paid to the issue of the islamization of Europe.
Opportunities For Turkish Companies in CEE

This thesis focuses on the opportunities for Turkish companies in the Central and Eastern European countries namely Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovak Republic and Austria. The thesis aims to provide a sound grasp of the economic situation of each country with an insight to the macroeconomic indicators, foreign direct investment and foreign trade figures for the country in question. Each country section included a separate focus on the strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities that a Turkish investor who may wish to invest in the country in question may benefit from or confront with. In order to be able to do so, a detailed literature review has been conducted using mainly the update primary data available. The findings derived are summarized in the conclusion section of the thesis.
Turkey as a regional power

Foreign policy of Turkey has undergone many changes in the past ten years, during the reign of the political party called Party of justice and development. Original orientation to European Union while neglecting relations with the countries of the Near East has changed. Nowadays, Turkey is an ambitious state which wants to play an important role not only in its immediate surroundings. Foreign minister, Ahmet Davutoglu aims his foreign policy to keep contact with partners from the NATO but he also tries to stay independent in decisions in order to expand into other markets. Trade policy and cultural exchange are the key means of the development of Turkey with a goal of becoming regional power. At present it is not possible to fulfil zero problems policy with neighbours with regard to the situation in Syria or disagreements in settlement of Iranian nuclear program. We can observe progress in relation with Russia and China up to the level of strategic partnership. Considering wide range of Turkish foreign policy, the goal of this work was to evaluate whether Turkey, in relation to other states, is a regional power these days. The means of evaluation were creating characteristics of a regional power and analysis of current Turkish foreign policy.
Does the violation of Kurdish minority´s rights prevent Turkey from joining the EU?

The topic of this thesis is a research of human and minority rights of Kurds in Turkey. The work especially seeks to answer the question whether violations of minority rights of the Kurdish minority in Turkey is an obstacle that prevents Turkey from joining the European Union. It cannot be denied that the problem actually exists in Turkey. However the thesis tries to figure out the real extent to which Turkey violates these rights and how these violations are contrary to European Union legislation.
The Turkey’s income to cultural variety of Europe

The aim of the thesis is to investigate the European and Czech historical experience with Turkey and to identify and describe stereotypes appearing along with this issue. Moreover, the thesis focuses on the attitude of the Czechs towards the enlargement of European Union by Turkey. Furthermore, another goal of the thesis is to figure out the level of Czech awareness and knowledge concerning Turkey. Author's analysis confirms the fundamental relationship between unfavorable perception of Turkey and basic ignorance of its territory. This confirmation is based on accessible literature, theoretical findings, official statistics and author's own survey.
Analysis of the supply of travel agencies in relation to chosen destination - Turkey

Diploma thesis analyzes the supply of chosen Czech travel agencies in relation to destination Turkey. The aim of the thesis was to create a certain manual for the newly formed travel agency, which would inspire by this thesis and would find out, which marketing tools are suitable to use for its enter to the market. The first theoretical chapter is dedicated to explanation of basic terms, which are used in the thesis. The next chapter presents the destination and the third chapter contains the analysis. The last chapter compares and evaluates all tools of the selected travel agencies.
Geopolitical role of Turkey: foreign policy perspectives
