Prague folk-tales in the second half of 19th century
Janeček, Petr ; Sochorová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Sochorová, Ludmila (referee)
Presented study analyzes local oral tradition in the second half of the 19th century with particular interest in Prague local legends, their character, genesis and function. The ca se study of Prague local legends, collected by Czech writer Popelka Biliánová, has two main goals: to analyse and classify these oral texts, and to connect their interpretation by their collector to Czech national movement, ethnic stereotypes and archeological, historical and mythological studies of the period. Prague local legends collected by Popelka Biliánová represent, unlike other prague local legends, which were heavily influenced by medieval chronicles or literary tradition, in its larger part authentic oral texts. None of the collectors of Prague local legends before and after Biliánová's period, with possible exception of Biliánová' s precessedor, historian Josef Svátek, was able to collect such authentic local folklore tradition. Biliánová' s Prague legends could be classified as a folklore genre of superstitious legends and have relatively recent origin: some derive from Catholic pious legends connected to local churches and holy places (the oldest of them stemming from the 17th and 18th century), some are quite recent individual memorates. Although Biliánová' s Prague legends were collected mainly for support of Czech...

Zámečník, Michal ; Mandel, Martin (advisor) ; Brůna, Karel (referee)
The main aim of this thesis is to discover a suitable instant of time for the Czech Republic to join European Monetary Union. I am analyzing dependence between monetary policies of the Czech National Bank (CNB) and the European Central Bank (ECB) themselves as well as in relation to essential Czech macroeconomic indicators. My observation is focused on interest rate policies represented by operative interest rates, on monetary policies represented by indices of nominal effective exchange rates and on convergence monitoring. The analytical instruments I used in the thesis are correlation analyses, linear trends, the Granger causality test and the Impulse-Reaction test. Besides, my thesis examines fulfillment of the Convergence (Maastricht) criteria in the Czech Republic and other central European countries. This thesis also examines impact of the European monetary policy on some Eurozone member countries.

Felcman, Jakub ; Klimeš, Ivan (advisor) ; Bregant, Michal (referee)
Bibliografický záznam Felcman, J. Kino v psacím stroji. Fenomén fiktivního scénáře v českém prostředí. (Rigorózní práce). Praha: Univerzita Karlova v Praze, Filozofická fakulta, Katedra filmových studií, 2011, 153 s. Vedoucí práce Doc. PhDr. Ivan Klimeš, PhD. Abstract This thesis is dedicated to a specific type of literary film art called rather innovatively in the paper as "a fictive screenplay". It is a literary work of art which uses different forms established as a basis for a transformation of a written art to a film: film thesis, libretto, literary or technical scenario. So called "fictive scenarios" are different from other creations of this type primarily by the apparent intention of the author to see them as a complete piece of art in its printed form without any ambitions or actual need for subsequent realization of its film version. The composition of the paper is based on a study of the relevant materials and is divided into three parts. The first part covers a compilation of texts collected by screen editor Kurt Pinthus in the 1910's (Das Kinobuch, the oldest Czech "fictive scenarios"). The second part covers film-related literary art pieces created by the Czech avant-garde in the 1920's. (Fictive scenario as a form of the Czech avant-garde.) The third part (Fictive scenario as a surrealistic playground)...

Dvořáková, Anna ; Šoltys, Otakar (advisor) ; Láb, Filip (referee)
AbstractAbstractAbstractAbstract This thesis presents one of the first attempts to uncover and analyze the phenomenon of immediately apparent digital photomontage born and developed in the context of the Czech internet, that does not attempt to simulate a photographic reproduction of reality, but instead to regularly comment on political events of the Czech Republic. Using an analysis of photomontages of Teo Adamy (aTeo), the thesis explores their specific hybrid means of expression and the methods through which it completely fulfills the essence of pictorial commentary. Besides describing the creative basis and inspirational founts of the montage artist, it also provides an in-depth insight into the category of the so-called pseudofilm, a specific part of aTeo's internet production, that consists of photomontages feeding off the medium of film, using meaningful parallels in film stories and pop-cultural film references, or even directly inserts chosen political representatives into well-known film scenes and thus draws upon universal mythological structures activated by popular films. The Pseudofilm category is then subjected to a detailed analysis, whose output is a comprehensive description of aTeo's fictionally-realistic film-political photomontage and an understanding of specific features of its...
