Pankratzová, Jana ; Veselá, Jitka (advisor)
Capital markets are an important part of every free market economy. After the transformation from a centrally planned economy to a free market economy, capital markets were founded and re-established in many central and eastern European countries. The Czech Republic and Slovenia belong among those countries. The main aim of this thesis is to characterize and compare the Prague Stock Exchange and Ljubljana Stock Exchange in various terms. Those terms include the history of both exchanges, the organization, principles and conditions of membership, ways of trading, market segmentation, exchange indices and other statistics.

Industrial policy - sectoral structure of the national economy
Trtíková, Eva ; Tyll, Ladislav (advisor) ; Doláková, Helena (referee)
In his thesis work: Industrial policy sectoral structure of the national economy, I will mainly deal with the industry in the Czech Republic. Focus is also on the sector classification of economic entities, namely on how businesses can be classified. Look at the famous classification of NACE, CZ-NACE, and others. Furthermore, I deal with small and medium-sized business, since this is considered business as a "lung" economy. Today, I can not miss the current financial crisis, it will be my next question. My aim is to determine how many economic entities taking, in which the region is the most business and which on the contrary, at least, as it is with foreigners in the Czech Republic, how much business births and deaths and many more. Last but not least, I focused on the industry in the Czech Republic, the type of questions about what to look for, what sees this problem and vice versa včem not be too interested in me.

Duty od Care of Members of Statutory Bodies in Capital Business Companies and its Relation to Internal Compliance Programs
Andreisová, Lucie ; Dědič, Jan (advisor) ; Boháček, Martin (referee) ; Lasák, Jan (referee)
The purpose of this dissertation is to provide its readers with a detailed and comprehensive look at the institute of duty of care, business judgment rule and related civil and partly also criminal liability of members of (not only) statutory bodies of capital business companies, and in this respect also to introduce an internal compliance program as one of the main instruments of good and effective corporate governance. The main objective of this dissertation is therefore to verify or refute the hypothesis whether, and if so in what particular form, can an internal compliance program be seen as an institute helping members of statutory bodies of capital business companies in fulfilling specific requirements and obligations of their duty to carry out the statutory function with due (managerial) care. The existence (implementation) of an internal compliance program is quite commonly connected with so called regulated markets and also with individual business corporations whose ownership structure extends the boundaries of the Czech Republic (typically British or American business corporations seated in the Czech Republic). But what about a wide neutral zone of Czech business corporations, i.e. especially small and medium-sized capital business companies? Shall these implement an internal compliance program as well? And, if so, on what grounds and with what benefits?

Excited States of Carotenoids and Their Roles in Light Harvesting Systems
KEŞAN, Gürkan
Carotenoids are an extensive group of natural pigments employed by a majority of organisms on earth. They are present in most organisms, including humans, but can be synthesized only by plants and microorganisms. They perform two major roles in photosynthesis, often in partnership with the more prevalent chlorophylls (Chls) / bacteriochlorophylls (BChls): light-harvesting and photoprotection. Carotenoids absorb radiation in a spectral region inaccessible to Chls and BChls and transfer the absorbed energy to (B)Chls which, in turn, funnel it into the photosynthetic reaction center (RC). It is determined that the structures and dynamics of excited states of carotenoids found in photosynthetic proteins provide an explanation of their roles as light-harvesting and photoprotective agents. The conjugation length and the type of carotenoids play a big part in understanding the energy transfer from carotenoids to Chls and BChls, because excited-state properties of carotenoids are affected by number of conjugated C=C bonds and their structures. An accurate description of these states is, therefore, the crucial first step in explaining carotenoid photochemistry and understanding the interactions between carotenoids and other molecules in photobiological processes. The research in this thesis, femtosecond ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy was used to study the light-harvesting function of carotenoids both in solvent and protein environment. The findings were supported with computational methods. Based on spectroscopic indications, the light-harvesting function of carotenoids has a bearing on their structures, and specific light-harvesting strategies are explicitly dependent with the structure of the light-harvesting complexes.
