Integration and everyday life of Italian refugees exiled to Northern Bohemia in the First World War :a microhistorical look at the daily experience of Sannicoló in Jablonné v Podještědí

The purpose of the thesis is to look at the reality of an Italian-speaking refugee during the First World War, when people were forced to evacuate the Trentino region and were moved within the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The thesis will look closely at the diary of an Italian-speaking refugee, starting with his evacuation from Trentino and continuing to his arrival and permanence in the northern Bohemian city of Jablonné v Podještědí. The paper will also explore the internal migration movements and efforts made by the Habsburg Empire, with special regard to the experiences of Italian- speaking refugees. The diary of the man known as Sannicoló will be used to give a microhistorical study and perspective of his move from Rovereto, Italy to the city of Jablonné v Podještědí. His reality as an Italian-speaking refugee and citizen of the Habsburg Empire will be briefly compared with what is generally known of the refugee situation within the Austro-Hungarian Empire and that of other Italian- speaking refugees, to determine the degree of success of his integration into the local population's community. Benešov and the changes of its society 1918-1921

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to analyze if, respectively how much society in Benešov changed after first WWI. I was inspired by microhistory, comparison and probe method to map the period. I try to depict, how the society in Benešov developed. My main intention is to show, that development society in Benešov was after WWI mostly discontinuous, however we can find some examples of continuity. To be specific I research problems of municipal politics, education, Church, army, culture or associational life. They are questions that cannot by simply answered, for example one of them was Konopiště castle case. Described events are put in nationwide context. The main sources for my thesis were regional origin sources. Another information to my topic I got from contemporary press.
Municipality of Hradčany in Podještědí in the story of contemporary history

This master's thesis follows the author's previous bachelor thesis Village Hradčany in Podještědí at Contemporary History 1914 -1948. Using terminology and methods of regional history and microhistory it accents exploring contemporary history of whole commune and municipality Hradčany with all of its historical villages. It will deal comprehensively with cultural-historical and political-historical problems and phenomena of the of the second half of the 20th century, beginning with the communist rise of power in 1948 , continuing by demise of traditional rural economy in the fifties. But it will also mention the extinction of commune Hradčany itself and its connecting to the bigger commune of socialist type in seventies and developement of socialist rural society. Due to comparing the local archive sources with sources from other surrounding settlements the work should produce a synthetical historical source, which could be taken as a general picture of history of settlements in the region. The whole work is based primarily on archive and oral-history research, interviews with the oldest settlers, collection of photographic sources and written documents as memories.
Přestavlky u Čerčan during the occupation 1939-1945

(in English): The aim of this thesis is a micro-historical view into the history of the Czech village during the occupation. At first, author shortly describes developement in the First Czechoslovak Republic and then tries to cover the greatests changes, that occupatioon and years of war have brought into the everydayness of inhabitants. It deals with the spheres of politics, livelihood, public area and confrontation with police and army. Above that he tries to fit in the gained knowledge to the broad historical and territorial context. Archival materials, regional literature and private sources are utilized.
History of the city Jílové near Děčín after 1945: Transfer and Settlement in the Narratives of Its Inhabitants

This thesis considers a difficult period of the post-war period of history in Jílové near Děčín. The main chapters of this work deal with the themes of transfer of Germans from the city and with the following event of settlement of new inhabitants. The aim of this thesis is to reflect the period of the national migration in Jílové. Last but not least this work aims to reveal micro-historical view on a process of key events in a small city considering individual life stories. Submitted thesis is based on available archive materials and literature. At the same time there was applied a method of oral history. In the following chapters there are introduced 6 life stories of inhabitants of Jílové who helped with their narrations to describe the key themes of this research as well as "small history" of everyday life in the post-war era. The life of secret agent Vojtěch Kučera: microhistorical study

This thesis intends to introduce the life story of Vojtěch Kučera, "agent-walker", who undertook at least twenty-six illegal border crossing across Czechoslovakia border during the years 1946 - 1954. During his last illegal border crossing he was catched, accused of espionage and then sentenced to 25 years imprisonment in the year 1955. The first part of the thesis is based on three variations of Kučera's life story. These three stories are constructed (and later deconstructed ) by using informations from family memories, Kučera's statement as well as from the film Agent K vypovídá. The second part of the thesis is based on several microhistorical probes. By using microhistorical analysis we aim to understand Kučera's thinking, behaving and motivations.
Village Hradčany in Podještědí at Contemporaly History 1914 - 1948

This work focuses on exploring the village Hradčany in Podještědí in historical period 1914-1957. The main theme of the work is the specific situation of Hradčany, the village on the ethnic, and later also state border of Sudeten and Protectorate during the Second World War, as well as the building of socialism and the ending of the traditional rural economy in the fifties. The whole work is based primarily on oral-history research, interviews with the oldest settlers, collection of photographic sources and written documents as memories and administrative documents.
The family strategies of farmers in the village Vítkov 1700-1850

The thesis being hereby presented is concerned with the problematics of family strategies´ aplications in peasants´ families in the village of Vítkov, dated 1700-1850. The work itself is based upon analysis of evidence- and insurance resources, that means mostly registry and cadastral books, urbars and census of subjects. Methodologically, this work proceeds from historical demography and its connection with micro-history and genealogy. Transfers of peasants´s grounds and application of their rights of hertitage become the main subject of research. Secondly, this thesis focuses on peasants life partners choices, families´ maritial strategies and migration. In addition, there are ways of employment drafted for those rural families´ members who had no claim to taking over a paternal ground, thusly achieving to give evidence of how different the family strategies in two contiguous parts of South Bohemia would once have been. The substantial asset of this thesis supposed is to confirm the benefits of joining both historical demography and genealogy whist studying Czech rural areas including possible use of specialised genealogical software.
Joys and sorrows of village through the eyes of village chroniclers on the example of the parish of Bohumilice. Contribution to the history of everyday life in years 1922 - 1948

This thesis attempts to use a microhistorical and historical-anthropological approach, based on records from still existing chronicles of the parish of Bohumilice, to reconstruct the everyday life of people in this region in the time period of 1922 - 1948. On the background of great historic events and based on testimonies of individual participants from given region, a colourful tapestry of people's behaviour, actions and perception is being revealed. The thesis is divided into six chapters, in the first one the author specifies the geography, economy and development of administration in the given region, the second chapter follows with history of the centre of the parish, the village of Bohumilice, the local church and school. Chapters three to five deal with the state of chronicle writing in the region. At first a description of all still existing chronicles is given, later follows an outline of records in individual chronicles in the given time period, and finally the personalities of chroniclers are presented. In the sixth chapter the author attempts, based on chroniclers? testimonies, to reconstruct everyday life in the village, the behaviour, actions and primarily the perception of its inhabitants.

The introduced bachelor thesis focuses on analyse of economic and social structures of the area of the manor Hluboká nad Vltavou. The time frame of this bachelor thesis is between 1654-1714. Among the main sources belong the oldest Czech register; fiscal gneiss, revitalisation of the fiscal gneiss, Teresian register. The economy and the social situation of the liege society after the Thirty Years War were analysed on the basis of these sources. The economical and social development of the manor Hluboká nad Vltavou was compared with general trends of the development of the liege society, as well as with other location on the area of Bohemia. Other sources, besides from register were used, f.e. register office, list of the inhabitants according to their religious and land registers. On the basis of these materials was elaborated the micro historical study of the family Mička from Levín.
