Possibilities of Deepening the Theory and Practice of Investment Decisions with an Emphasis on Real Options

This dissertation deals with selected areas within capital budgeting theory and practice. The first part is focused on possibilities how to improve traditional financial metrics as net present value and internal rate of return by using graphical tools for their interpretation. The main practical problem can be considered not the methodology itself, but the inability to predict future cash flows correctly. The special attention is paid to depreciation in connection with Czech accounting and tax legislation and its influence on capital decisions. The second part of the dissertation concentrates on real option analysis. The crucial difference between net present value and real options analysis is in how these methods deal with the risk. Mathematical approach is used to derive how the volatility and other parameters affect the theoretical value of an investment determined by real option. The more volatile the future cash flows are the higher theoretical value of the real option should be. Nevertheless, there are some exceptions that are analysed in this paper. In final chapter, total cost of ownership and real option analysis are used to evaluate option to switch from on-premise IT solution to cloud computing.

Corporate assets and investment activities of the company

The aim of this Bachelor thesis is to considerate the asset structure of the company with a focus on facilities, level, structure and making use of the fixed assets as the basis for assessment of investment activities in the specific terms of the chosen company. This thesis is to assess the importance and the role of the investment activities in the company, investment efficiency and investment decision-making. Following the definitions of basic terms, the analysis of assets structure, assessment of the level of facilities and the use of fixed assets in the chosen company are included. The development in the past five years is also described. The thesis assesses the investment activities in the monitored period and their impact on the efficiency of the management of the company.

The diploma thesis is concerned with the issue of investments decision and capital investment planning. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate a possible investment in the underground gas storage Rožná. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first theoretical part deals with the characterization and terms defining in the field of investments decision. It also mentions the methods how to evaluate the effectiveness of investments decision. The second theoretical part discusses the strategic analysis of gas industry with the emphasis on using of the underground gas storages in the Czech Republic and in other countries within the European Union. The third part analyzes the effectiveness evaluation of the investment while applying the terms of both theoretical parts.

The diploma thesis "Investment controlling and its application in a particular company" focuses on principle features of investment controllership and its application in practice. The theoretical part summarizes theoretical knowledge of the field of the investment decision-making and investment controllership. Attention is devoted specially to basic terms and methods used in this field. The practical part deals with analyses of recent stage of investment controllership usage in the ABC, s. r. o. company. According to project results the advantages and insufficiencies of recent stage are evaluated including suggestions for future improvements.

The aim of this work is analyse of the investment activity in the condition of the concrete company and estimation of the concrete investment. As the basis of this estimation serves analyse of the business estate aimed at longtime tangible property. First is analyzed total estate of the businnes. Then the attention is oriented on longtime tangible property, which is target on angle of his structure, trend, usage and facilities. The analyse of the investment activity is oriented on estimation of the efficiency of the concrete investment project.

The objective of this thesis is the analysis of fixed assets and evaluation of the investment activity in a particular company. First of all, I have analysed total assets of the company and then I have paid my attention, especially, to tangible fixed assets, which is evaluated from the point of view of level, structure, use and equipment. The analysis of the investment activity is focused on evaluation of a particular investment action.

The utilization of different sources of finance in company investment policy

The aim of this final work was to analyse a company´s investment decision while considering the possibility of using different financial sources and on the basis of the analysis to choose the most advantageous financing alternative of the chosen investment. The discounted costs method was applied to the relevant calculations to sum up the investment efficiency, which was acquisite of different financial sources. The substance of that method is particular options comparing in term of their total costs of investments and discounted operating costs for the whole service life. The most of the companys´ investment decisions aim is the financing sources security with the minimum average capital costs.

The Economic Aspects of Accessibility with Use of Public Railway Traffic

This thesis deals with the evaluation of the investment efficiency to the traffic buildings. Theoretical part describes the history of the traffic sector and the railway traffic, the ownership and financing of the railway infrastructure. Next section describes the characteristic of railway corridors, basic principles of their modernization and optimizations and methods for the evaluation of investment efficiency. In practical part is focused on design of an own methodology for the evaluation of investment efficiency to the traffic building according to savings of passengers' time. The investment efficiency to the railway corridors is assessed using proposed methodology.
