Failure of establishing South Vietnam between Johnson's presidency and Paris treaty 1973
Koreček, Janis ; Čížek, Martin (advisor) ; Litera, Bohuslav (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the United State's engagement in the Vietnam War. Time became limited under the Johnson and Nixon administration. The primary target of this thesis is to gather main reasons for why South Vietnam was unable to be established as an independent and modern state as had both South Korea and Japan in the past. There are significances under the Nixon and Johnson administration. Both had been tight with the US legislative process and were able to narrow their options of how to solve the stalemate in Vietnam. Johnson was more focused on domestic policy known as "Great Society". For Nixon, foreign policy was of more importance. Great discord came from Nguyen Van Thieu, South Vietnam's head of state, who never co-operated much with US administration. His region was more repressive than democratic and was one in which there was no connection between him and the South Vietneme inhabitants. The Army of South Vietnam played a special role. The conclusion describes the main motives of why South Vietnam ultimately failed.

Nursing problems in patients undergoing chemotherapy with a focus on nutrition.
KULÍŠKOVÁ, Eva
Nutrition is very important for patients undergoing chemotherapy. Tumour-associated malnutrition often appears in them which can be caused both by the cancer disease, and the administration of cytostatics which have a lot of side effects influencing patient´s nutrition, such as the loss of appetite, vomiting, mucositis, but also diarrhoea and constipation. Depending on the seriousness of malnutrition, risks of complications of the anti-tumour therapy increase and the quality of patients´ life decreases. The loss of 5% of weight has an adverse effect on the long-term survival of the oncologically ill. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the term of chemotherapy, methods of administration of cytostatics and their adverse effects. It further describes pathogenesis of tumour-associated malnutrition, a clinical picture, the role of a nurse in diagnostics and basic nutritional measures to be taken at the occurrence of adverse effects of cytostatics. The first goal was to determine the scope of nurses´ knowledge of the nutrition problems of patients undergoing chemotherapy. The second goal was to determine whether patients knew the possibilities for affecting adverse effects of chemotherapy by means of nutritional measures. The third goal was to determine whether nurses applying chemotherapy provided patients with information about nutritional measures which could influence adverse effects of chemotherapy. Four research questions were stated to meet the goals. The practical part of the Bachelor´s thesis contains results of the quality survey performed by means of an in-depth interview. The research investigation was carried out at the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute in Brno. The interviews were held in March 2013, with the consent of the Deputy for Nursing Care. Five nurses who apply chemotherapy and five patients who were receiving chemotherapy were asked for cooperation. Research question 1: ?Do nurses have necessary knowledge in the field of nutrition of patients undergoing chemotherapy?? The answers showed that nurses did not have complete knowledge of nutritional measures during chemotherapy. Their answers were usually brief and incomplete. All the nurses agreed that it was important to have correct knowledge in the field of nutrition during chemotherapy but only one of them stated that she would appreciate a training in this field. Research question 2: ?Do patients know the possibilities for influencing adverse effects of chemotherapy by nutrition?? Answers of patients were similar to those of nurses. Patients usually only knew basic measures; their knowledge can be assessed as insufficient in this field. Research question 3: ?Do nurses inform patients about the possibilities for nutrition during the application of chemotherapy?? Nurses and patients stated in agreement that the most frequent source of information is an educational brochure which only contained basic notes. The majority of patients stated they received sufficient information about nutrition, which did not correspond with their knowledge. Research question 4: ?Do patients know the possibilities where to obtain information about nutrition during chemotherapy?? The majority of respondents answered that they would look for the answers on the internet or they would ask a nurse at the ward. All of them answered in agreement the question ?What information resources do nurses recommend to patients?? they only hand over an information brochure and a contact to the ward. A possibility how to improve the knowledge of patients as well as nurses could be a wider content of educational documents on influencing adverse effects of chemotherapy, or higher knowledge of other sources of information such as internet links or the possibility to contact a nutrition therapist. Results of this thesis could be used as information documents which can help improve nursing care of patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Macešková, Marie
Non-Regional Governmental Policies as a Key Mechanism of Regional Development: The Case of Regional Dimension of Sectoral and Horizontal Policies in the Czech Republic Abstract of doctoral PhD thesis Prague 2009 Marie Macešková The thesis deals with the role of non-regional governmental policies for regional development, more precisely, with the regional impact of sectoral and horizontal policies pursued by the central level of public administration in the Czech Republic. The main aim of the dissertation was to explore regional patterns of the allocation of public capital expenditure that has been distributed from the central level of public administration, i.e. the Government of the Czech Republic. The very importance of capital expenditure lies in the fact that they are dedicated to developmental activities and to actions increasing capital in general. Consequently, public capital expenditures are considered to be one of the key factors triggering socioeconomic development and contributing significantly to prosperity of regional economies. The issue was tackled from two main standpoints. Firstly, the premise of the regulative role of public finance (public policies) was questioned as one of the main starting points of the...

Baránková, Petra ; Boháč, Radim (advisor) ; Kohajda, Michael (referee)
Resumé / Summary Excise duties on alcohol and alcohol beverages in Community law The main topics of my thesis are excise duties and administrative aspects relating to them. Czech Republic joined the European Union in 2004. The EU begun the integration to achieve political power and economic prosperity. To achieve that prosperity could be complicated due to obstructions of free movement of products created by demands on administration of excise duties. I decided to focus on excise duties, especially the excise duty applied on alcohol and alcohol beverages. The aim of this publication is to describe the EU legislation of excise duty as well as to identify and describe problems arising from that particular area of law. I also paid attention to problems concerning implementation of the EU legislation into Member States law including Czech Republic. In the first chapter we can find a definition of a tax, its characteristics and classification from different points of view, after that also more detailed description of features of an indirect taxation. In the second chapter I have attempted to define the concepts of coordination, harmonization and competition in tax field and then evaluate their advantages and disadvantages in comparison. Then I tried to approach the issue of excise duties in national legislation...

The quality management system in the selected company
MAŘÍKOVÁ, Iveta
This thesis deals with the international standards ISO. Specifically, a description of the implementation of EN ISO 9001:2008 in the selected business. The application of ISO standards in the company has led to an improvement and more importantly to greater accuracy in communication between employees. The result is a reduction of errors and thus the claims which has a positive economic impact on business. Another advantage is providing feedback within business operations. This helps to enhance the quality of production management. You can easily trace the errors and use them to define some precautions in order to prevent these and future errors. The most negative feature in the application of ISO standards is the increase of administration which, after stabilization of standards during normal operation, declined, however is still higher than before the application of these standards. Generally speaking, the application of ISO standards has been beneficial for the company. It should also be noted that not all employees received an increase in administration without problems. Proven results in the production and reduction in the number of defective products speak in favor of applied standards.

U.S.-Chinese Relations 1992-2008, Comparison Clinton - Bush, PRC -Taiwan
Sasková, Lucie ; Krátký, Karel (advisor) ; Knotková, Vladimíra (referee)
Fifty years after declaration of the People's Republic of China in October 1949 and thirty years after U.S. establishment of full diplomatic relations with PRC in January 1979 the question of Taiwan still remains one of the main and sometimes even very explosive topics in Sino-American relations. This fact proves how important the fate of Taiwan is for the USA as well as for the PRC. This paper compares American foreign policy toward China over Taiwan during Clinton administration (1993-2001) and Bush administration (2001-2009). Based upon analysis of historical development of American relations to China the cornerstone for the policy toward the PRC and Taiwan is presented. This cornerstone characterised by strategic ambiguity represents ground for the comparison of both presidents.
