Uher, Ondřej ; Voldán, Jiří (referee) ; Němec, Zdeněk (advisor)
Thesis deals with the introduction to the production of electricity using photovoltaic panels and the relative position between panels and the Sun. The project aim was to design equipment to ensure the vertical position of the solar panels towards the Sun during the day so as to achieve maximum energy gain from sunlight. Pointing mechanism will be governed by the date and time.

Kratěna, Tomáš ; Šimíček, Petr (advisor) ; Štěpánek, Pavel (referee)

This step started a discussion about suitability of this policy for small opened and transitive economy. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate how succesfull inflation targeting as a framework of monetary policy for price level stability was. The main research method is comparison between inflation target and actual inflation rate measured on CPI by CZSO in the time horizon between years 1998 and 2014.

The Influence of Weather and Calendar Cycles on Trading Volumes at World Stock Exchanges
Kovaľová, Andrea ; Vozárová, Pavla (advisor) ; Slaný, Martin (referee)
Studies investigating stock-exchange anomalies -- mainly with respect to returns and volatility -- have been emerging in recent years and decades. This work explores whether weather conditions, days of the week, length of daylight, seasonal affective disorder, holidays, and lunar phase affect trading volume. Segmented into two parts, the work primarily analyses time-series cross-sectional data covering 12 major stock exchanges and spanning from January 2010 to March 2015. The other part of the work focuses on a detailed analysis of the New York Stock Exchange using only time-series data obtained for the time period from January 2001 to December 2009. Additionally, this period is further split to two time spans as the NYSE fundamentally changed its trading system during the period in question. We find strong evidence of the Monday effect -- manifested in low trading volume on Mondays -- recognizable in the time-series cross-sectional part of the analysis, as well as in the time-series part. Other aforementioned anomalies either do not affect the trading volume significantly or their effect is statistically significant only in one of the two parts of the analysis.

Land Cover Changes in connection with the Iron Curtain using Corine Land Cover Database
Najman, Jiří ; Romportl, Dušan (referee) ; Bičík, Ivan (advisor)
This master's thesis focuses on land use and land cover changes in relation to the Iron Curtain and its fall. The area of concern was delimited with a buffer zone of 15 km from the Iron Curtain (both sides). The space was created according to the administrative structure consistent with the year 1989. Different processes in the economy of the countries involved has had an undoubtedly significant influence on land cover and land use structure and its changes. Agronomic politics in European democratic states was more market oriented and that was mirrored in land use structures. On the other hand, soil in countries under soviet influence was cultivated on infertile grounds, which was untenable after 1990. The fall of the Warsaw Treaty stood for radical changes in the society of states that were directly influenced by the Soviet Union. Based on this fact we can presume more intensive land cover changes on the side of the former East in comparison with the Western countries. This expectation was confirmed using CORINE Land Cover dataset. The former East has undergone changes nearly five times more in comparison with the opposite side of the Iron Curtain boundary between 1990 and 2000. Essential variance was also remarkable amidst individual zones separated by administrative boundaries. The most stable...

Remote sensing techniques are nowadays widely used next to classical in-situ measurements for studying properties of atmospheric boundary layer (ABL). Doppler SODAR (Sound Detection and Ranging) was introduced to skilled public for the first time around 1975 and today is used in routine investigations of thermal structure, turbulence and vertical mass movement in ABL. It is also used for estimation of mixing layer height and for continuous monitoring of wind speed and direction. Application of REMTECH Doppler SODAR PA2 system as a support tool for studying pollutant dispersion in ABL is demonstrated on model studies performed in urban and suburban areas with use of combined mobile detection system DIAL LIDAR 510M / SODAR PA2.
