Practical use of Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science Charles University in Prague for Education of Lower Grades of Primary School

The theme of this diploma thesis is Practical use of the Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague for Education of Lower Grades of Primary Schools. The main purpose is to chart current status of a theme of botanical garden in curricular documents, namely The Framework Educational Programme for Basic Education and School Educational Programmes of chosen elementary schools located in Prague 2. Further, the presence of this theme is explored in the sample of schoolbooks for the 4th and the 5th grades of elementary schools. There is a questionnaire survey realized among teachers of the 4th and the 5th grades in the schools listed above. The aim is to find out, how much the Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague is used for practical education. The results are shown in charts and graphs. The readiness of this botanical garden for practical education of lower grades pupils is found out by an interview with its vice-director. The next part of thesis contains planning and realizing a lesson with the 5th grade pupils. The lesson demonstrates a possibility of more frequent practical education in the botanical garden. 4 The Abstrakt: The main target of the thesis is to complete and check the materials of inquiry- based education on the topic of 'water in human life'. This thesis has been based on the ESTABLISH project and it is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the characteristics of inquiry-based education, its benefits and history. It introduces us to the national and foreign project and works that treat this type of education. The main passage of the thesis deals with the compilation and verification of materials for the inquiry-based activities within the thematic unit of 'water in human life'. Part of the materials is methodical handbook for teachers and worksheets for individual activities. Further on this thesis includes the results of a questionnaire for students. The feedback reflected verification of the activities and course of materials content and suitability assessment. Consequently, the thesis also includes the application of the questionnaire for educators which evaluated the awareness of the inquiry-based education and its existing usage by biology teacher on Prague grammar schools. Tématem bakalářské práce je sexuální výchova. Práce analyzuje její vývoj v České republice a popisuje situaci ve vybraných zahraničních zemích (Norsko, Švédsko, Dánsko, Francie, Velká Británie, Německo, Polsko, Itálie, Bulharsko, Chorvatsko, Švýcarsko, Nizozemí, Japonsko, Indie, Keňa, Mexiko). Zabývá se implementací sexuální výchovy do vzdělávacích programu: Základní škola, Obecná škola, Národní škola a do rámcového vzdělávacího programu a analyzuje "Doporučení MŠMT CR k výuce sexuální výchovy". Praktickou část představuje výzkum, který je zaměřen na výuku, metody a zkušenosti učitelů sexuální výchovy na 2. stupni základních škol.
Science knowledge of pupils at lower primary school

This diploma thesis verifies the knowledge of some specified science topics among pupils at lower primary school. The pupil´s knowledge was inquired by using their own drawings, and by a didactic test. The work mentions the analysis of science textbooks and workbooks that are used in schools as one of the knowledge sources of products of nature and animals. The results of the work are used to get the idea about the real extent of science education at lower primary school, and to find out what knowledge of this field the pupils actually have these days.

Educational programme with elements of inquiry based earth science teaching at the 1.st grade primary school

The aim of this work is to prepare an educational program with the elements of inquiry teaching (BOV) and at the same time to make sure whether the suggested activities from the point of view of the aims of teaching natural science at the 1 grade of the basic school are effective. This thesis shows some possibilities how to work out with this method and how to incorporate it to the process of teaching. As a purpose - built example there were used topics connected with the physiology of plants. Different teaching methods appropriate for the realization of BOV in the frame of the Educational program with respect to the relevant content of the textbooks of natural science are applied here. The diploma thesis Josef Velenovský and František Mareš ? two personalities of the Czech scientific life (their biological and philosophical activities) deals with the philosophical theses of two notable Czech biologists ? philosophers ? in their biological research. The first part introduces the biological and philosophical activities of both personalities. It depicts in detail Mares' views of physiology and Velenovsky's take on natural philosophy. It further contains their critical views of contemporary trends in natural sciences and philosophy, especially the positivism and naturalism. The second part contains a comparative analysis of the fundamental ideas of both scientists, included in The natural philosophy (Volume I, Natural) and Physiology. The text attempts to analyze their theses (positivism, naturalism, vitalism, physiology, natural science) and to find similarities and differences in their points of view.
Geoarchaeological reconstruction of Ústecká basin landscape from prehistory time to the Middle Ages

The presented thesis summarizes the geoarcheology of the area of so called Ústecká kotlina and it is written on two levels. This area studied is quite strictly specified. The first level covers the natural conditions followed by the hypotheses of human ecological strategies studied mainly on the base of (re)search and foot recognoscation. The second level of this thesis is based on my experiences with the rescue excavations which were held on the site Blok 004 right in the centre of the town Ústí nad Labem. I tried to interpret the information value of analysed sections on the base of pedogeochemical and micromorphological results.
Wider possibilities of didactic model of honeybee in the educational area Humans and Their World

This diploma thesis compiles the general theoretical outline of the subject honeybee, analysisof RVP and school books for science and nature studies. Further this work presents themes and proposals for the subject of general science and nature studies with the use of interrelationships between schools subjects. It also evaluates realizations of some of these proposals in practice.
