To Finish the Body of the City
Vitkovič, Michal ; Kosek, Filip (referee) ; Hora, Jan (advisor)
The proposal verifies the possibilities of completing the land on the edge of the historic centre in the form of a city block, within the extreme limits set by its narrow dimensions. The apparent disadvantages - the spatial limitation and the position on a slope - become an opportunity to create a variety of atmospheres and situations, different levels of height, partitions and connections. The concept reflects the phenomena of city coalescence, the end of the dominance of cars, addressing the lack of affordable housing and increasing the density of the city and place. The infill of the mixed-use building consists mainly of flats designed for population groups threatened by the current housing crisis - young people and the socially disadvantaged. The housing programme is complemented by council flats. The proposal seeks to provide service, leisure and social opportunities. The flats have private gardens located on green roofs and communal seating areas. An important part of the block is the community centre. In line with the concept of short distances, there are also shops and a café with a bookshop on the ground floor. In the part of the plot close to the city centre we find a small public square with greenery. Parking is located mostly in a semi-flooded basement, which gradually rises to the terrain and creates a platform for residential buildings. The contrast of the concrete base and the brick linear blocks is the main characteristic of the simple facades. The new urban block also reshapes the character of the surrounding streets, humanising them and integrating the urban fabric.
Riviera takes wing!
Kysela, Vladimír ; Kouřilová, Lenka (referee) ; Palacký, Jiří (advisor)
The diploma thesis concerns the replenishment of the urban mosaic of Frýdek-Místek regional town in the Czech Republic. A new local vision for the Riviéra housing estate is to be set. The intervention area spirals around the brownfield of a former spinning factory, which is included into the modernist urban area. The brownfield neighbours with the Janáček park, which is standing out in the surroundings in the means of the articulation and condition of the public space. The fenced areal, on the other hand, forms a barrier to the urban life. The aspiration of the project is to unscramble the potential of the unbuilt area within the vivid part of the town.
Design of a sustainable urban structure - based on a medieval city - for the 21st century.
Čech, Daniel ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of the design was to create a functional urban structure in Náměšť nad Oslavou, which works on the principles of a modern city of the 21st century, but is also inspired by elements of a medieval city. So it is a marriage of the old with the new. On this basis, a compact functional structure was designed, which functions as a complement to the existing development and does not serve as a separate unit. In the new development, therefore, elements were designed to help improve the quality of life throughout the city. Emphasis was placed on the unique character of the development, a car-free center, plenty of green space and work with natural resources. The design has a lifespan of tens to hundreds of years. The proposed development can later be extended to the space, but also to the height.

The diploma thesis Peace of square - completion and reconstruction of the public space in Brno is the topic I chose to elaborate my final work. This is an urban study that seeks to find the most appropriate space solution for a newly created square. Peace Square is located in the part of Brno called Stránice, in the saddle between the Yellow Hill and Kraví hora. It is the natural center of the adjacent Masaryk district, built in the beginning of the 20th century. Significant factors influencing the design are indeed a rich background of civic amenities in the form of the Church of St. Augustine, observatory, park and swimming pool at Kraví hora, two primary schools and gymnasium near the square. The concept is based on the creation of a new compact apartment building, which forms a stable backdrop to the newly created square in front of the Church of Sts. Augustina. The square is open to the auditorium where there is a park on the hill Kraví hora.
