Czech and Russian Similes in Terms of Human Appearance and Personality in Comparison

This bachelor thesis deals with the comparison of Czech and Russian similes, which are semantically focused on the appearance and personality of a human being. The theoretical part summarizes the knowledge about phraseology and its position within the linguistic system, about the phraseological unit and about similes. The practical part is focused on the analysis of selected phrases in the Czech and Russian languages. The similes are entered into charts and categorized according to their meaning and degree of equivalence. In the charts, each simile is given a definition, an example of use in context and the degree of equivalence. The results are then analysed and summarised in the conclusion. The aim of the thesis is to confirm or deny the hypothesis regarding the frequency of occurrence of full and partial equivalence. Phraseology at Primary School

The thesis focuses on primary school pupils, specifically on the pupils of the second educational period, whose knowledge and understanding of folk phrasal idioms are examined. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to the definition of important terms in the field of phraseology, such as the definition and characteristics of a phrasal idiom, its function, possible ways of phrasal idoms classification and various variants and updates of phrasal idioms. Furthermore, the thesis explores the influence of the social background, from which a pupil comes, on the knowledge of phrasal idioms. The thesis also addresses possible ways how a primary school can influence pupil's knowledge of folk phrasal idioms and understanding them. The practical part of the thesis includes the main survey, where the research method is quantitative. The survey is conducted through open-ended questionnaires. The total number of respondents, who participated in the main survey, is 301. Respondents attend both municipal schools, which are in Prague as well as in other cities, and smaller schools in villages. Based on the analysis of textbooks, it is assumed that pupils have a greater opportunity to encounter folk phrasal idioms than cultural phrasal idioms. The master's dissertation aims to examine the amount of attention given to phrasemes within the selected textbooks intended for the second stage of primary schools. Subsequently, it introduces its own worksheet dedicated to such problematics.

This diploma thesis deals with a lexicalized comparison, whose basic words are animal names, zooapelativa. Phraseology and idiomatic language are described in the theoretical part. This part is based not only on Čermák's conception but also on the definition and classification of basic units of this linguistic discipline - set phrase and idioms. The practical part mainly describes animal appellation (bull, duck, cat, goat, cow, horse, sheep, dog, pig and hen). Linguistic analysis, inspirited by the Czech national corpus, focuses on the frequency of the given phrasal units, their diversity and update extent.
Innovative methods of teaching phraseology at secondary school

The theoretical part of this diploma thesis shows the content of phraseology and the meaning of the word idiom. It widely defines the word phraseology and idiom from the point of view of books and authors specialized on phraseology. This work deals with the constituents of phraseology and gives illustrative examples. It outlines other theoretical opinions connected to the Czech phraseology, needed for the researching part. Next part describes the basis of folk art, folklore and its constituents that make our mother-toque richer and we can find them as a part of the education at secondary schools. This work will also describe the way phraseology is taught in language books and methods used in these books. In the researching part it shows different methods of work with phrasemes and offers couple of lesson plans. The aim is to bring some new materials and worksheets working with phrasemes usable in lessons.
