Changes in reproductive behaviour of the Czech population after 1990
Polesná, Helena ; Kocourková, Jiřina (advisor) ; Fialová, Ludmila (referee)
Changes in reproductive behavior of the Czech population after 1990 and their causes Abstract The aim of this work is to record and assess changes in the demographic behavior of the Czech population since 1990 and then try to discover their causes. The Second Demographic Transition theory is used to compare these changes with the course of those that took place in Western countries represented in this work by the Netherlands. The analytical part documents the development of fertility, abortion, marriage and divorce behavior in the Czech Republic and the Netherlands since 1950. Part of this work, which is aimed at identifying causes of changes, deals with changes in the value orientations of Czech and Dutch population between 1991 and 2008. The results of the European Values Study were used. The attention is focused on the change of values and attitudes relating to marriage and parenthood. Based on the results, we conclude that the changes taking place in the Czech Republic are similar in nature to those, which are typical for Western European countries. The causes of these dramatic changes were found in the combined influence of structural and cultural factors. Keywords: Second Demographic Transition, values, fertility, abortion, marriage, divorce, demographic behaviour
Development of fertility in countries and regions of the European union after 1991
Kurkin, Roman ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Bartoňová, Dagmar (referee)
This thesis deals with the development of fertility in countries and regions of the European Union in the context of convergence and divergence trends. The goal is to analyze and evaluate the basic trends in international and regional differentiation of fertility by studying the literature and by my own analysis trying to explain the observed spatial differences and to identify problems in methodology and data collection. The European Union is for the purpose of analysis divided into western and eastern part in order to respond better to the hypothesis defined in the introductory chapter. First, the analysis of the regional differentiation of fertility rate is made. Variability in fertility at the regional level is consequently successfully explained by international differences which allow you to move the analysis at the state level. International differentiations of fertility rate are then explained by the different position of states in the process of second demographic transition. Despite the expectations, a clear trend towards convergence in fertility levels was not observed in the western part of the European Union and its spatial patterns remained stable. The eastern part experienced a significant decrease in the intensity of fertility which caused its convergence and overshadowed the ongoing changes...

Holečková, Kristýna ; Langhamrová, Jitka (advisor) ; Cséfalvaiová, Kornélia (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on major demographic changes in behaviour among the population of the Czech Republic between 1989 and 2014. Currently, population ageing represents a global problem connected with many causes and consequences - economic, social or political. The thesis concentrates specifically on three areas. One of them is the labour market, which is frequently associated with concerns about labour shortage and labour market discrimination. Further, it engages with the system of social policy, namely nursing services and homes for the elderly and constantly increasing costs of health care. The thesis aims at a detailed discription of areas connected with the changes in the age structure and make a suggestion of possible measures to face the effects of demographic ageing with regard to future development. A substantial part focuses at the development of selected demographic indicators and population projection.
