Changes in the Ukrainian international trade after the Crimea annexation. Reorientation from the Russian Federation to the EU
Rakiv, Nadiia ; Semerák, Vilém (advisor) ; Benáček, Vladimír (referee)
This thesis is mainly focusing on the international trade tendency of Ukraine after the annexation of Crimea and the military intervention of Russia in the Don- bas region. Specifically, this work examines the changes in the Ukraine-Russia trade dimension and reorientation of Ukraine from Russia to the EU Partnership. Therefore, the role of the Donbas region, which used to be deeply integrated into the supply chains of Russian companies, is crucial to analyze. The prepared re- view of Ukrainian international trade agreements with Russia and other countries, specifically focusing on the changes of the main partners during the last years, is presented to emphasis the actuality of this thesis topic. This work is based on the comparison of patterns of Ukrainian foreign trade before and after the annexation of Crimea, with the further effects of the exten- sion towards European economics. The understanding of Crimea, the history of the peninsula and its inhabitants, the Crimean Tatars, is initially reviewed and covered. From Soviet genocide to Putin's Conquest (2016) publication was an essential resource. Russia and the West After the Ukrainian Crisis: European vulnerabilities to Russian pressure, Radar corporation (2017) research was used as a basis of the Ukraine-Russia relations and consequences it...
Impact of Potential EU Membership on Economy of Ukraine
Jascuk, Milana ; Cahlík, Tomáš (advisor) ; Šťastná, Lenka (referee)
Recently the topic of the future of Ukrainian economy has been attracting great attention among economists and politicians. The way how it should develop is widely discussed on the international arena. Economists and politicians cannot reach an agreement to which direction it is better to move for Ukraine. Nowadays a lot of special institutions has been created on both sides: in Ukraine and in Europe. The main goal of those is to control all the processes of transformation to be transparent on all levels; as well as prevent unlikely events. Of course, there are proponents and opponents of the moving to the free trade with the EU as for every global process. Among the young generation it is very clear, that possibilities, which gives us European Union are much more valuable and gainful. Even now, majority of students, researchers seek to apply their knowledge or gain some knowledge in European countries. I try to determine potential impact on Economy of Ukraine assuming integration to European Union. It is very important to consider both threats and benefits of such processes as they are taking place on very high level. Therefor in this work I will consider both contours of development for Economy of Ukraine. To explore it I have applied the synthetic control method, which gives us opportunity to...

Assessment of the operator reliability of the selected machine
Jakl, Tomáš ; Rozehnalová, Jana (referee) ; Kotek, Luboš (advisor)
The master thesis is focused on the reliability of the human factor in the operation of the production machine. In the first part the basic legislative requirements for safety and reliability of work are presented. In the second part, the reliability of the human factor is discussed along with a description of selected methods for assessing the reliability of the human factor. The research section then concludes with a proposed methodology for human factors assessment for the manufacturing process. In the practical part, the proposed methodology is applied to the selected process, which includes risk identification and outputs from the selected methods. The thesis then concludes by recommending preventive measures to eliminate the identified risks.
Analysis of the EU - South Korea FTA and its effects on their mutual trade using the gravity model
Vinšová, Katarína ; Paulus, Michal (advisor) ; Vacek, Pavel (referee)
The European Union (EU) and South Korea signed the EU- South Korea free trade agreement (FTA) in 2011 and since then they started to gradually remove barriers to their mutual trade. This thesis is analyzing the effects of this agreement on their bilateral trade flow in 10 commodity sections from 2005 until 2018. For this analysis we are using gravity model that is estimated by OLS and PPML method for comparison. This analysis showed that the EUSouth Korea FTA influences their mutual trade in all 10 sections differently due to different levels of protectionism at the beginning. The FTA had a positive influence on their mutual trade in 9 commodity sections out of 10. In the Section 9 we found a negative effect of the FTA. Contrary to our beliefs we also found out that the highest increase in their mutual trade was not in automobile and electronic industry but in the chemical industry. Impact of the FTA between EU and South Korea on the Czech Republic
Maderová, Karolína ; Semerák, Vilém (advisor) ; Hayat, Arshad (referee)
In this thesis we study the effect of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between European Union and South Korea, especially on the Czech Republic. To do so, we use gravity model. We specify three different gravity equations, each with a different set of fixed effects, and apply two estimation methods on them: Fixed Effects and Poisson Pseudo Maximum Likelihood. Apart from this, we also use traditional indicators (Herfindahl and RCA indices) to assess the changes in trade. The results of the gravity model estimations suggest that the FTA did not have a significant impact on the bilateral trade. However, trade diversification analysis using the Herfindahl index and comparative advantage analysis using the RCA index both indicate that the bilateral trade between the Czech Republic and South Korea improved with the FTA in place.
Analýza obchodních vztahů Evropské unie s Brazílií
Machačová, Lucie
Main aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze trade relations between EU and Brazil. In the first part of the thesis there is review of literature of the applied trade policies, the importance of the parties in the world trade and development of the mutual trade relations. Subsequently the development of the free trade agreement talks between EU and Mercosur in which Brazil plays crucial role is described. Also problematic topics of the negotiations are analysed. Second part of the thesis consists of the analysis of the dynamics and structure of mutual trade between EU and Brazil as well as between EU and Mercosur. At the end there is analysed mutual relation of EU and Brazil at the multilateral level, specifically at the WTO. Obtained information are discussed and possible recommendations are suggested in the conclusion.
Analysis of Free Trade Agreements Between European Union and Latin American Countries
Macháček, Martin ; Semerák, Vilém (advisor) ; Palanský, Miroslav (referee)
Bibliographic note Macháček Martin. Analysis of Free Trade Agreements Between European Union and Latin American Countries. 35. Bachelor thesis. Charles University, Fac- ulty of Social Sciences, Institute of Economic Studies. Supervisor Ing. Vilém Semerák M.A., Ph.D. Abstract The aim of this paper is to examine if free trade agreements between Latin American countries and the European Union have positive effect on trade flow between the two. For this purpose, we use gravity models, specifically Ordi- nary Least Squares and Poisson Pseudo Maximum Likelihood estimations with time and country-pair fixed effects. We apply these methods on five studied countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. The results show that the agreements with the European Union for the first four mentioned countries have positive impact, although lower than the impact of other agreements signed by these countries. For Mexico, the effect is negative, which corresponds with the reports of the EU, which is negotiating modernization of their agreement.
