One of those is further discussed and described from the point of view technical realization in common data warehouse systems. Main contribution of this work is preview of approaches to payment card loyalty programs and also preview of possibilities in way the loyalty program can be integrated with data warehouse currently deployed in the bank.
Business Intelligence for Insurance
Havránek, Denis ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Oganesjan, Narek (referee)
The thesis focuses on the application of Business Intelligence technologies in the insurance area, aiming concretely at their use in insurance companies. The aim is to introduce and summarize the various processes and information needs that are part of an insurance company and the ways that business intelligence tools can support and improve those processes. To achieve this goal I describe and present the internal functioning of the main processes in insurance companies emphasizing on data examples and the concrete use of BI. Furthermore, I point out two specific examples of Business Intelligence products, which are built and are aimed for the insurance industry. Specifically, I review InsFocus Business Intelligence product from InsFocus Insurance and SAS Business Intelligence from SAS. These two products are reviewed in terms of architecture, functionality and implementation process. At the end of the thesis, I've created a theoretical analysis for a Business Intelligence implementation in a fictitious insurance company. The benefit of this work is to present a comprehensive look at the advantages of Business Intelligence for insurance companies, at some specific products which relate to BI and insurance, and a look at the way that an analysis for a BI insurance solution is made.
ETL process optimization
Žák, Vítězslav ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Maryška, Miloš (referee)
At a certain point of its life cycle, each data warehouse gets into a state in which the length of the ETL processing starts slowly approaching the acceptable limit. Even the slightest lapse means a hardly erasable time lag and the data supplies to users are increasingly delayed. Before the situation becomes more problematic, we need to react. This diploma thesis deals with the possible solutions of this problem- the ETL performance optimization. The main aim of the thesis is to propose the set of recommendations for the ETL process optimization and its presentation based on practical real world examples. While going through this thesis, the readers get inside the running of the real ETL optimization project. They learn how to proceed during its particular periods, what to avoid and how to reduce the risk level as much as possible. Moreover, the thesis mentions the prevention of the ETL performance loss and discusses the critical factors of the effective ETL process design. Although the proposed methods are described in a general perspective, the thesis is mainly focused on Oracle's database, which is its certain limitation. Also hardware optimization is not a part of the text. First chapters of the thesis describe the problem from the theoretical point of view, which is important for the correct understanding of the main content and the existing literature concerning this problematic is included here as well. Next sections describe the proposed methods and recommendations for the optimization of the ETL processes including tests and project results evaluation. They are mainly focused on the ETL process synchronization and the SQL code optimization areas. All the methods are presented of examples of the real project implemented by the author.

The households had started to use in huge the PCs and round 1992 joined WEB. The companies did start to ask for applications which would have been able to be in connection with the other branch offices and had been looking for such solutions that would have brought the new added value. There had been rising new bank systems, telecommunication, insurance, energy, industrial systems and the like. Today, we are dating 2011 and it is more than 20 year; and the systems are still in use. Therefore it is unavoidable to store all the data to be used further and based on the data to create competitive environment. Every company has got its own department assuring data storage, data analysis and reporting the results to the top management. In past the data was used to process decision streamline, and thus remedy the key branches. Hence a new line of business came up focused on data processing, the new technology standards conception, new storage data types etc. The new fundamental term was formed -- Business Intelligence. The subject of the diploma paper is Business Intelligence Solution in enterprise scoped to the process design, development, data purity and project management in pharmacy. There are mentioned the base components of Business Intelligence Solution, technology and meritorious aspect of design. Integral part of this work is description of pharmacy problematic and project management.

This bachelor's thesis deals with optimization of ETL processes; it is extraction, transformation and load of data warehouse. It is about performance optimization of ETL. The aim of the thesis is to explore ways the particular ETL phases can be optimized, to describe recommendations, methods, suggestions and findings, which can positively affect performance, and to summarize everything into one piece in Czech. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter deals with basic description of ETL, ways how to estimate duration of processing, and ways how to measure performance of each phase of ETL. Next part is aimed at optimization. Suggestions, methods and recommendations are introduced both for whole ETL and for every single process; extraction, transformation and load.
