Wolfgang Herrndorf: Didactic adaptation of novel and film.

This master's dissertation deals with the elaboration of a didactic adaptation of the novel ​Tschick ​by Wolfgang Herrndorf and its film adaptation. The goal of this master's dissertation is to create a complete educational project that is used in a real school curriculum. In the theoretical part, the basic principles for creating such a project are expounded: The terms literature and film in teaching German are explained. Moreover, there are reasons listed why literature and films ought to be a firm part of second language teaching. The literary work ​Tschick ​by Wolfgang Herrndorf is dealt with in the perspective of literary studies. Furthermore, the theoretical and methodological principles are introduced in the purpose of creating such a project. This is implemented in the practical part of this master's dissertation using the novel ​Tschick ​by Wolfgang Herrndorf and its film adaptation as a foundation of this project. Thus, the lesson materials and plans are created that are used at a real school, ​Gymnázium, Praha 6, Arabská 14​, where a group of 17 students, who are at level A2, is chosen for this project. Modality in the Teaching of German as a Foreign Language

This diploma thesis focuses on problems with expressing modality in German language system. It also deals with modality adaptation in contemporary textbooks for teaching German as a foreign language at CEFR level A1-A2. In the beginning the thesis deals with theoretical adaptation of modality and ist possibilities of expressing in grammatical and lexical system of contemporary German Language. The end of theoretical part pays attention to teaching German as a foreign language, especially to problems with grammar arrangement or more precisely modality. The empirical part focuses on analysis of modality presentation in selected textbooks at CEFR level A1-A2 at lower secondary schools and corresponding grammar schools. The attention is aimed at formal, pragmatic and stylistic aspect of presenting the phenomenon, as well as comprehensibility, suitability and reasonability of its adaptation.
Anglicisms in the Contemporary German and its Role in the Teaching German as a Foreign Language

The diploma thesis deals with anglicisms in the contemporary German. The theoretical part concerns the linguistic aspects of the anglicisms in the phonetic, grammatical and lexicological field. The empirical part contains the corpus of anglicisms, which is created by the means of excerption of the internet magazine for young people YAEZ. It is followed by the corpus analysis of the chosen anglicisms. These results are incorporated into the didactic material at the end of the thesis. The aim of the thesis is to carry out the corpus-based analysis of the anglicisms and to discover the possible use of the anglicisms in the teaching German as a foreign language. The author applies the methods of corpus linguistic corpus DeReKo und its program COSMAS II in order to verify the lexical and grammatical features of the chosen words.
Issue of teaching the pronunciation of the German language at Czech primary schools

This master thesis deals with the teaching of pronunciation in primary schools in the Czech Republic. The theoretical thesis explains the importance of pronunciation, of phonetics and of phonology, because of achieving communication skills. It explains terms, that are related with pronunciation, describes phenomena in the German phonetic system, that are difficult for Czechs, and discusses methods of teaching German pronunciation in the context of primary school. It also points out that the inclusion of teaching German pronunciation is insufficient in RVP and very diverse in the school educational plans. The practical part of the thesis introduces three textbook files and analyses the degree of the inclusion of pronunciation in their concepts. Afterwards, it shows research that took place in five classes in primary school. It conducts observations and interviews with teachers in this research. The mastery of the very difficult German sounds by the pupils was found out. Finally, the results of the research in all classes are compared. The results of the research show that there is some connection between the teacher's teaching skills and the pupil's pronunciation skills. Title: Teaching and Testing Writing. On the Common State School Leaving Exam in German Language. PhDr. Marie Vachková, Ph.D. Abstract: This thesis deals with the topic of writing ability in lessons of German as a foreign language in a context of a State-school leaving exam in German language. New model of this exam is managed centrally and its global character influences the school study in all grammar schools. The thesis concentrates on the way in which this exam influences the study and which consequences it has for the writing ability of students. The research gains the data mainly from the point of view of teachers, but it considers the student's point of view too and analyses results of their written exams. The concern in this topic is based on the current situation of modification of the state-school leaving exam in foreign languages and the criticism of its benefits for students and their study. The foreign language testing has a long tradition and counts to detailed researched fields of didactics which allows a global view on the issues in context of other foreign language exams and on teaching fields connected with testing which creates a theoretical frame of this thesis....
Problems English Speakers Face with Pronunciation of German Sounds

This bachelor thesis explores differences between English and German language on the level of Phonetics and Phonology and defines German sounds causing the biggest difficulties to English speakers. Firstly, specialized literature sources are consulted, in which English and German sound systems are outlined, and after comparing these two systems, a hypothetical list of crucial problematic sounds is created. In the practical part it is intended to confirm or disprove the problematic character of these selected sounds based on the analysis of authentic recordings of English native speakers. The aim of the thesis is to compile a theoretically and practically verified list of the most problematic German sounds for learners with English as a mother tongue, or as an already acquired foreign language, so that the list can be used by the students themselves as well as the teachers of German as a Foreign/Second Language. In my bachelor?s thesis Gegenüberstellende Analyse methodischer Aspekte deutschsprachiger Lieder im Deutsch als Fremdsprache Unterricht I am concerned with reasons why using songs in German lessons is useful. At the same time I will explain that a song is a tool and we always have to have a specific aim which we would like to reach. Possible aims are demonstrated in individual chapters together with suggested tasks which are presented as worksheets. Two current songs are used as a sample.
