An emphasis is placed upon the plays König Ottokars Glück und Ende, Libussa and Ein Bruderzwist in Habsburg, which are inspired by stories from Czech history and mythology. Up to these days, these plays have never been staged in Czech theatres nor translated into Czech. Knowledge of these factors is crucial for an understanding of the way Grillparzer employed historical motifs into his works. The three dramas are thoroughly analysed and compared with Czech tradition. Their important German productions and reviews are discussed in shorter chapters. Receptions of all Grillparzer's plays staged in the Czech lands and all studies and articles on the dramatist himself written by Czech critics are accounted.
