Charles University in Prague Faculty of Science Department of Social Geography and Regional Development Jakub Novák MOBILE PHONE LOCATION DATA: POSSIBILITIES OF USE IN GEOGRAPHICAL RESEARCH Synopsis of PhD Thesis Prague 2010 Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Zdeněk Čermák Jakub Novák Synopsis of PhD Thesis 1 Jakub Novák Synopsis of PhD Thesis 2 INTRODUCTION Spatial mobility of world population has been unbelievably changing during the last decades. People from poor countries are moving thousands of kilometers to developed countries with the vision of material prosperity. Airplanes transport thousands of people in hours to places, where people had travelled much longer recently. Similarly, also an ordinary weekday is for the majority of population connected with relatively long moves between different places of daily activities. Traveling between home, work, kindergartens and schools, shops and leisure activities takes the significant part of our daytime. To capture the measureless amount of particular human creatures in their day-to-day moves through time and space seems to be almost impossible. In fact, it is not so unrealistic. Currently, we are surrounded by a number of electronic devices, which dispose with information about its location or record moving objects in their vicinity. Mobile phone is one of such...

Factors influencing the development of sibling relationship from the perspective of healthy siblings of children with disabilities
Soukupová, Marie ; Kucharská, Anna (advisor) ; Valentová, Hana (referee)
This research study is focused on perceptions of sibling relationships from the perspective of healthy siblings of children with mental disabilities. The first part of this study perceives the sibling relationships as a part of the family system and notices the particularities of the relationships when one of the children is mentally handicapped. The study also deals with the development of the sibling relationship and notices some problematic moments, difficult situations and feelings that the polled siblings mentioned. In the empirical part, we presented a qualitative analysis of the data obtained from 7 informants using the method of a semi-structured interview. The aim of this study was to uncover the factors of the sibling relationships that are supportive or disturbing from the point of view of the healthy siblings. Following influences have been identified: significant influence of parents, influence of friends, influence of family, time spent together and enough communication with siblings with disabilities, but also the "supportive world" (i.e. the Internet or some supportive psychological programs). For some siblings the belief in God can be of importance; and also the living space, leisure time and space for themselves. These factors may be helpful to the parents of these children, the siblings...

Compact directed acyclic word graph in a sliding window
Filip, Ondřej ; Dvořák, Tomáš (advisor) ; Senft, Martin (referee)
Compact directed acyclic word graph (CDAWG) is the space-efficient version of a text-indexing data structure called suffix tree. The goal of this work is an implementation and comparison of algorithms constructing CDAWG for text in a sliding window. Sliding window is favorable in cases when the index structure cannot be kept in memory for the whole indexed data. One exact move of the sliding window may be performed in linear time with respect to the length of the window. An approximative algorithm requiring only amortized constant time per one move has been developed, too. However, in this thesis, the correctness of this algorithm has been disproved.

The appreciation of the newest breeding group of bearded irises (Iris barbata) focusing on changing the shape of the beard
Bekeová, Johana ; Matiska, Pavel (advisor) ; Markéta, Markéta (referee)
Iris barbata are among the perennials and their bearded representatives can often be found in our gardens. Cultivars, with successive breeding beard has changed to the crest, horn, spoon, flounce or the pom pom and was replaced by different colors, it calls Space Age irises and because their appearance is not too popular in according to gardener and therefore this thesis is moving towards an evaluation of their decorative and vital potential and recommendations for public sale. Ten middle and high irises were evaluated from late April to mid June 2015, when the iris gradually bloomed in the area Chotobuz in the Botanical Garden in Pruhonice. It reviewed, according to the Classification of Iris from Ing. Milan Blažek and the results were documented by photographs taken 1x or 2x per week, depending on the speed of the newly blossomed individuals. All irises have a sunny, well drained, sandy-loam habitat on a gentle slope. Rated irises come from Czech and foreign breeders and their flower color, plant height, shape and color of bread and resistance to diseases and pests, they differing with each individual. The authenticity of the individuals are verified in accordance with original labels from the American Iris Society. Irises prevailed in violet, yellow or white with all five shapes of bread with orange color at the center. The worst hit from the selected iris cultivar is the Hyperspace because it was heavily attacked by diseases and do not fit to cut and he had created a flounce instead of a spoon. Due to the low vitality of the plant was not recommended to resell. Conversely, the best hit of decorative and vital perspective is the High Point, which rendered colorful color. In the case of the cultivar Mesmerizer had imperfect flower, which was present shape of the beard like pom pom and also a crest. For other cultivars was a change in the overall height or change the shape of the beard (Capricious Candles) or flower color. The aforementioned factors were bad probably due to insufficient energy plant or a higher temperature at the time or prolonged drought, and in some cases slight differences hereditary characters. In addition to the cultivar Hyperspace may be other individuals recommended for sale and planting in our garden or to cut.

The comparison of acoustic properties of interiors with focusing on speech intelligibility
KOZLOVÁ, Miroslava
This bachelor thesis is devoted to examining the acoustic properties of different rooms. Subsequent evaluation of these properties is carried out according to the intended use of the space. This thesis is divided into two parts. The first is the theoretical part, in which the physical nature of sound and properties and methods of the measurements of acoustic quantities intended for its description are explained. The second part is the practical part, which presents the results of the acoustic measurements in selected interiors. Acoustic measurements are focused on reverberation time and speech intelligibility.

Lived Space of Archaic Greece
Luhanová, Eliška ; Fischerová, Sylva (advisor) ; Chlup, Radek (referee)
Diploma work Lived Space of Archaic Greece Eliška Luhanová (UFaR FF UK) tutor: Mgr. Sylva Fischerová, PhD. Abstract The diploma work Lived Space of Archaic Greece reconstructs the spatial structuration of the world in archaic Greece on the basis of a systematic reading of Hesiod's poems, mainly the Theogony. Nevertheless it takes into account also another texts which help to illuminate the archaic Greek thought, in particular the works of archaic poets and later dramatic texts, which preserve many of the archaic visions. In same cases the subsequent evolution of the subject is pointed out moreover, especially where the authors classified as first philosophers by the later tradition are concerned. The main contribution of the work lies in reconstruction of the cosmogonic process, based on the poetical account given by Hesiod. This process is interpreted as a successive constitution of the world order, which culminates by establishing Zeus as a world sovereign and at the same time as a successive constitution of the world as a differentiated spatial whole. This constitution thus proceeds in a form of differentiation, which means partly a mutual differentiation of the gradually emergent cosmical constituents, partly an intrinsic differentiation of the particular constituents of the cosmic structure. First...
