"Centrum" Department Store in Brno
Dvořáková, Zuzana ; Sznapková, Radka (referee) ; Vojtová, Lea (advisor)
The subject of the thesis is an architectural study of the reconstruction and extension of the "Centrum" department store in Brno. It is a dominant building designed by the famous czech architect Vladimir Karfík, which is located at the Urban Conservation Area Brno. Object wasn´t realized with the full extent of the original proposal, so in the project is planned a completion of it. The new solution respects the historical quality of Urban Conservation Area Brno with a concurrent view of the location on the lucrative land in the city center. The architectural concept is based on a return to the original idea of the architect and the addition of my own creative contribution within the extension of the new floors. Draft of the extension is intended so that the individual parts of an object communicate with each other, but they are easily recognizable as well. This idea was filled by both parts linked together visually by horizontal lines and ripple, which is used on balconies of the extension and behind the facade of the current building by shielding walls. However it is emphasized the contrast between an enclosed mass and a free-flowing space. The existing part of the building is used especialy as a leasable area of trade and services. On the upper floors there are areas of administration. Furthermore, there will be a restaurant and cafe with exhibition galleries and apartments are designed on the new added floors. The building is adapted to use by person with limited mobility. Newly added uses in the object will increase the attractiveness of the building and its surroundings.

Roof of the swimming pool
Pelikán, Adam ; Šopík, Leonard (referee) ; Stráský, Jiří (advisor)
This diploma thesis is about designing the structure of roof of swimming stadium. Three solutions are created - concrete arc with tie, steel truss slab and concrete pretensioned membrane. One choosed solution - concrete pretensioned membrane - is afterwards developed. In the beginning there are several designs of geometry fulfilling the requirements for given type of structure being created. In part of static calculation, the parametrical mathematical model in form of macro in APDL language for Ansys software has been created. Afterwards all the parameters (initial state of cables, level of pretension, dimensions of membrane and peripheral frame, etc.) has been optimized in order to the membrane be fulfilling criterias for ultimate limit state and serviceability limit state. Afterwards other selected parts of structure has been checked. On basis of designed geometry and design checks in static calculation the drawings of conctruction and designed parts has been created. In the end, the 3D model of the structure has been created in graphical software Rhinoceros. Then visualizations of structure in concstruction stages and after completion has been rendered.

Design of prestressed bridge structure
Otáhal, Ondřej ; Rybák, Vít (referee) ; Klusáček, Ladislav (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with design of a road bridge over Husí potok in Hladké Životice. The supporting structure of the bridge is designed in three variants, one of which is selected variant post-tensioned slabs. To address the internal forces is used computing software Scia Engineer. In the structural analysis of the bridge structure is assessed at the ultimate limit state and serviceability by European standards – Eurocodes. For chosen variant is prepared drawing documentation and visualization.

Socially Excluded Localities and Their Revitalization. Case Study: Ústecký Region.
Zoubková, Věra Thea ; Maier, Karel (advisor) ; Jakub, Jakub (referee)
The dissertation deals with the incidence and revitalization of socially excluded localities in a defined study area. The aim of this contribution is to identify and visualize the situation of the Ústecký Region in order to find common patterns of urban deprivation occurrence and to establish the guiding principles of revitalization policies in the Czech Republic. The research took place from September 2010 to June 2015. It combined qualitative and quantitative methods, in-situ and desk research. An analysis of primary and secondary data revealed 130 excluded localities in 42 towns and cities out of 354 in the region. The majority of deprived localities (87 %) can be found in highly urbanized areas. Two thirds of localities are small areas with up to 100 inhabitants. Socially excluded areas emerge in the centre, residential districts as well as on the outskirts of towns; however, three fifths of localities are not spatially segregated. Prefabricated housing estates are the largest and most populated deprived areas. Every other inhabitant of socially excluded localities in the Region lives in a prefabricated house. Brick houses are the most proliferated type of housing facility used as accommodation for socially excluded people. They can be found in every other deprived area. Vast majority of them was built before 1989. Family houses are deprived very scarcely; however, they belong to the most dilapidated part of socially excluded housing estate. Two thirds of localities have developed naturally, while the other third has been created by a regulated relocation of socially excluded people. Vast majority of deprived areas have existed for more than 5 years. Private property prevails. Half of the localities have entered the process of revitalization to improve the urban environment, human resources and security. Applied policies aim to keep the inhabitants in place and improve the quality of public space and service. However, involvement of residents in local regeneration policymaking is weak and ineffective. The renewal process depends on grants and subsidies. Europeanization is strong especially in big cities; nevertheless, most localities are small and therefore don't qualify for the sources of the built environment programs which prefer large areas of intervention. Results of revitalization process differ from one locality to another. Areas of housing and employment fall behind in particular. As far as property regeneration is concerned, the best owners are municipalities, house unit owners associations and housing associations. Not in one case, however, reaches the share of regenerated housing units 50 % of deprived properties. In any case, the market prices of local flats stay low compared with those of correspondingly equipped properties elsewhere in town.
