Svoboda, David ; Suchý, Jiří (advisor) ; Harbichová, Ivana (referee)
Author: Bc. David Svoboda Title: Authentic experiences and recommendations from Olympic champions to build mental resilience and manage the psychological consequences of health problems Objectives: As there are not many surveys and publications dealing with psychological consequences caused by health problems in top- athletes' career, the main purpose of the research was to analyse authentic experience and recommendations, how the selected Olympic winners lived through these periods, what experience they have and what they would recommend to other athletes in this context from the viewpoint of their mental resistance. Furthermore, we will attempt to reveal possible consequences between the athletes' health and mental health. The following aim is to summarise this information into valid recommendations for other sportsmen. Methods: To obtain detailed information, a qualitative method through a structured interview with open questions (Hendl, 2005) was selected. The structured interview was conducted with nine Olympic winners and it contained 12 basic questions that were divided into three main sectors for clarity - a sector of athlete's mental resistance, a sector of athletes' health problems and their consequent reaction and the respondents' ideas and recommendations. The results were subjected to...
Cultural competences of nurses in intensive nursing care
BALOUNOVÁ, Lucie
The goal of this thesis with the name "Cultural Competence of Nurses in Intensive Nursing Care" is to analyze the cultural competence of intensive nursing care. Based on this topic, two questions have been created: "What is the cultural competence of nurses in intensive nursing care" and "Which cultural challenges do nurses face in intensive nursing care?" The theoretical part of this thesis focuses on the characteristics of multicultural nursing care, defining basic concepts that are associated with this topic. It also describes various nursing care models about multicultural nursing care, along with communication and the challenges associated with specific minorities. There is also a chapter that focuses on the characteristics of intensive care and the specifics of communication with patients. The empirical part of this thesis was written in a qualitative form, comprising of interviews that gathered data based on thirty-two questions and a few sub-questions. The introduction had three questions collecting personal information of the interviewees, then another twenty-nine questions followed with thirteen sub-questions that focused on the nursing care of patients of minority groups, the specifics of transcultural nursing care, educating nurses about this topic and how much experience did they have with this topic. If necessary, further questions were asked. The whole interview was done so that it would be able to provide answers to our study questions that were made ahead of time and to also provide a picture of how nurses handle intensive care in patients of minority groups. We asked a total of ten general nurses who at the time of this study worked in intensive care, either at a department of anesthesiology and resuscitation, intensive care department or intermediate care. The interviews were then processed with open code and coloring text. In order to make the results of the study easier to understand, they have been divided and presented into four categories and ten subcategories. The categories clearly describe the experiences and thoughts of nurses. The results provide a holistic view on transcultural nursing care in intensive care. Based on this study, transcultural nursing care is becoming even more significant in today's society and it is important to not just focus on the education of nurses regarding this topic, but also to teach foreign languages, because language barriers are one of the most common obstacles nurses must face. This work may serve as educational material not just for students of healthcare professions, but also for nurses working in intensive care. The results alone point to shortcomings and problems associated with providing a culturally competent care and may contribute to improving this specific topic.
Comparison of holistic nursing care in Czech Republic and Thailand from the perspective of local students
WALTEROVÁ, Markéta
This bachelor's paper aims to map and compare holistic nursing care in the Czech Republic and Thailand as students of the nursing programme have experienced it during the internship in Thailand. In the theoretical part of the paper, we learn the definition of holism, holistic nursing care, a person's needs and how to satisfy them, and how nursing care's theoretical items help fulfil those needs. In the empirical part of the thesis, we did qualitative research with the help of semistructured interviews. We texted with Thai students, and we recorded Czech students during our conversation and then transcribed it. In both cases, we used open coding and worked with a pencil and a paper copy of the transcript. We divided the results of our research into five categories. In the first category, we evaluated the knowledge of holistic nursing care and showed students' subjective attitude. The second category studied the Czech approach to holistic nursing care, socio-cultural and religious standards influencing the care. And the third category examined the Thai approach to holistic nursing care. In the fourth category, we compared the most significant differences in holistic nursing care in the Czech Republic and Thailand. The last category introduced the possibilities of how providing holistic nursing care in Thailand can be an inspiration for the Czech Republic. This paper paid attention to the different application of holism to nursing care in countries with a distinct culture. As we have experienced in the internship in Thailand, the Czech medical system can draw inspiration from improving satisfying our patients' needs.
Experience of nurses with aggressive behaviour of clients in care homes
BALOUNOVÁ, Lucie
This thesis aims to investigate experiences with aggressive behaviour among nurses in care homes. Bearing this aim in mind, we have formulated three research questions: "What kind of aggressive behaviour do the nurses experience from their clients?", "What strategies do the nurses use to prevent the aggressive behaviour of their clients?", and "What strategies do the nurses use to deal with the aggressive behaviour of the clients?" The empirical part of the thesis is based on a qualitative research, for which we used semi-structured interviews. As a basis for these interviews, we have used 30 questions in total. From these questions, the first three were used to determine the identification data of the respondents. If needed, the respondents were also asked other, supplementary questions. The questions are contained in the thesis as Appendix 1. The questions were designed to investigate the experiences of nurses with aggression from their clients. The main focus of the questions was to investigate the treatment of aggressive clients, prevention and causes of aggression, consequences of aggression for the psychic wellbeing of the nurses, and the awareness of the nurses about the given topic. The research group consisted of 7 nurses, which were employed by different care homes. The interviews were analysed by the open coding method, namely by text colouring. For better clarity, the results of the analysis are divided into individual categories and subcategories. These categories describe the individual experiences and attitudes of the nurses. The results provide a complex view of taking care of aggressive clients in care homes. Our research shows that each of the nurses has encountered aggression from their clients, which has been mostly verbal. The nurses also claim that they deal with the aggression mostly individually, based on their previous experiences with the client and they also employ several prevention techniques.

PROKOPOVÁ, Andrea
This bachelor's thesis deals with the phenomenon of joint custody. Purpose of this work is to find out what experience social workers have with parents who file or already have a child in joint custody and what tools social work offers in the area of helping families with joint custody. One specific research question was chosen. With this question, we researched with which problems social workers meet at parents who file for joint custody. This bachelor's thesis consist of two parts, theoretical and practical. The family, breakdown of a family, authority of social-law protection of children and joint custody was described in the theoretical part. Practical part deals with the research which was done via aplication of qualitative research. Questioning method and semistructured interview were used in keeping with this strategy. Afterwards data was evaluated via tracing method. Particular codes were than assigned to the categories and inputted into the table. Research showed that social workers' experience are pretty much the same. They concur in many things and differ on the other ones. Most of the responses were aimed at a child who is taken as the most important aspect of a process od filing for joint custody. This bachelor's thesis can be used by people who are interested in the problemacy of joint custody and who want to know more about this phenomenon from social workers point of view.
Unrelated Foster Care
DVOŘÁKOVÁ, Iveta
This work deals with unrelated foster care. The aim is to find out the opinions and experiences of foster parents with unrelated foster care. Two research questions were chosen: 1. "What are the positives of foster care from the point of view of unrelated foster parents?" 2. "What are the negatives of foster care from the point of view of unrelated foster parents?" The work is divided into theoretical and practical part, where in the theoretical part were briefly described the institutes of substitute family care and the issue of foster care. Specifically, the motivation, distribution, benefits, rights and obligations, the mediation process, the termination of foster care, as well as the issue of accompaniment and the activities of social and legal protection bodies for children were described. I worked on the practical part using a qualitative strategy, questioning method and semi-structured interview technique. I conducted interviews with unrelated foster parents, which I addressed on the basis of the snowball sampling method. I evaluated the interviews using the open coding method, on the basis of which I created seven categories. Research has shown that foster parents have both positive and negative experiences with foster care. Based on the evaluated interviews, it was found that the foster care system would need to innovate in some areas. The results of the work can serve as a basis for further research or to improve the foster care system. They can also serve as a study material, but also as a guide for those interested in unrelated foster care.

Social workers´ experiences with social work oriented to foreigners in South Bohemian region among selected institutions
JEŽKOVÁ, Jana
The bachelor's thesis focuses on social workers' experience with social work oriented to foreigners in the South Bohemian Region among selected institutions. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part describes the system of protection of foreigners in the Czech Republic, categories of foreigners and types of residence of foreigners in the Czech Republic, as well as valid laws on foreigners in the Czech Republic. The essential part of the theoretical section also includes the specifics of the social work with foreigners. These include for example the competences of a social worker in social work oriented towards foreigners, sociocultural specifics or selected methods and techniques of social work specified to foreigners. The practical part deals with the research, that was realized with the usage of qualitative research strategy and method of questioning carried out in the form of an interview. Interviews were carried out with the social workers and with the workers in social services from selected organizations in South Bohemia, that provide social services for foreigners according to Act No. 108/2006 Coll., on social services, as amended. There were defined two research aims for the research purposes. The first aim was to find out what experience social workers have with the foreigners regarding the practice of their profession, the second aim was to identify how they are prepared for this work according to the subjective evaluation (in the following areas: methods and techniques of social work; legal knowledge; sociocultural specifics of minorities, immigrants, and foreigners granted asylum; etc.). Following these aims, one research question was specified: How are social workers equipped with methods and techniques of social work specified to foreigners? The data obtained from the research was analyzed manually using by "pencil and paper" and the results, of the analysis, were entered into several diagrams, that were created in the computer program Draw.io. The analysis of the research results showed, that the social workers have both, positive and negative experience with the social work, oriented towards foreigners, while positive experience relates to the evaluation of social work with the foreigners as such. The biggest difficulties in social work oriented towards foreigners are social workers' language barrier or insufficient orientation in law on foreigners. Social workers have to often turn to other experts in these areas. The research also showed, that the social workers assessed their preparedness in the methods and techniques of social work specified to foreigners as sufficient, even though in most cases they did not mention any of the specific methods and techniques of this social work (such as intercultural communication; empowerment; networking; coaching; combating discrimination; social work with traumatized refugees; etc.). In this sense, they rather talked about general methods and techniques or about some theoretical approaches of social work, which they also apply in social work with foreigners. The results of this bachelor's thesis can be used as a motive to stimulate the reflections of the governmental and non-governmental sector on the need to improve the professional readiness of social workers in social work, oriented towards foreigners, but also as a valuable basis for the implementation of follow-up and deeper research on the issue.
