Janikov, Martin ; Kaplan, Aleš (advisor) ; Hojka, Vladimír (referee)
Title: Speed training in strength and conditioning preparation of youth basketball players Aims: The main purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the effectivity of the training program designed to focus on development of speed abilities in category under fourteen years basketball players. Secondary aims are determination of relationship between practice attendances, number of games played, changes of body height, body weight and body composition of the players on their acceleration, maximal speed and agility tests performance. Methods: For this thesis was used experimental method, which concentrated on observation of speed development in two groups of players, each with different conditions defined by training content. We used measuring, testing and interviewing for data gathering purposes. To assess the relationship between all parameters and their explanation we apply analytic and comparative methods. For evaluation of relationships was used Pearson's correlation and p-value for determination of statistical significance. Results: The main hypothesis, presuming relationship between anticipation in our training program and improvement of speed abilities, wasn't confirmed by our calculations. The results were calculated for following tests: 20 m sprint (r = -0.12, p = 0.69, n = 14), flying 15 m run...
Differences in growth parameters in SGA / IUGR children and patiens with growth hormone deficiency treated with recombinant growth hormone
Kročilová, Kateřina ; Sedlak, Petr (advisor) ; Lisá, Lidka (referee)
In the Czech Republic is born to 5 % of SGA / IUGR children, about 5, 000 children a year, and their incidence is increasing. In 10 - 15 % does not occur postnatal compensation growth acceleration and growth retardation is then further deepens. Since 2003, these children can be treated by recombinant growth hormone in supraphysiological doses. Master thesis brings informations about SGA / IUGR children and their growth parameters during the first 2 years from the beginning of treatment when the monitoring was carried out at three - month intervals. The results are compared with the group of patients treated with growth hormone for growth hormone deficiency. Growth data was processed by a group of 57 SGA / IUGR children, which was compared with data of 34 children with growth hormone deficiency treated between 2003-2015 with growth hormone. Treatment of both groups of patients was carried out by a suitable therapeutic protocol, with the dose of GH by the respective diagnosis. These parameters were monitored: body height and weight, growth rate, BMI and weight - height ratio of patients. SGA / IUGR and GHD patients showed different growth profile in the initial phase of treatment when GHD patients had higher acceleration peak after 3 months of starting treatment and steeper increase in growth rate....
The relation between morphological and personality traits in humans
Sýkorová, Kateřina ; Flegr, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Třebický, Vít (referee)
In humans, as in animals, associations or correlations between morphological and personality traits can be observed. Some of the most conspicuous and well describable morphological traits in humans are eye color, hair color, body height and body mass index (BMI). These traits can correlate not only with temperament or character, but also, for example, with intelligence. Relations between morphology and personality can have an origin on a genetic or an environmental level. The human psyche, which can be influenced by social factors, can also have a role in the chain of causes and consequences. In this study, known relations between morphological traits and personality are discussed and mechanisms which could be responsible for these relations are mentioned. This study also focuses on the possible role of the environment which could explain some associations between the traits. Further, there is an attempt to identify environmental factors contributing to the morphological and personality traits which could therefore be a cause of some correlation between these traits.
Dependance of the gait parameters on a stature of an adult
Maštalková, Petra ; Vilímek, Miloslav (advisor) ; Goldmann, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Dependance of the gait parameters on a stature of an adult Objectives: The main aim of this study is to find out how the gait parameters depends on a stature of an adult. Another aim of this study is to compare these parameters between group of men and group of women. Methods: This thesis is type of descriptive - association research. In the practical part was used method of comparison for locomotion of people. As an objectification method was chosen 3D kinematic analysis of gait, which was performed using the Qualisys. Results: It was found that the dependence on a stature subject to the step length, pelvic rotation, flexion of a front knee, frequency and walking speed. Linear dependence on a stature is not subject to the the angle between femurs and flexion of a back knee. It was also found that the values of parameters which have the highest rate of variability reach a relatively low angular values. These parameters include the angle of rotation of a pelvis and the angle of flexion of a front knee. Opposite qualities shows the angle between femurs, which reaches the highest value, but clearly has the lowest rate of variability. Keywords: gait, footstep lenght, double support, stature
Trends in human height of elite female artistic gymnasts in comparision with three consecutive generations.
Pospíšilová, Anežka ; Radvanský, Jiří (advisor) ; Procházka, Michal (referee)
There is no common opinion, if the final height of female artistic gymnasts is jeopardized due to excessive training from early childhood. The aim of this master thesis is to compare a trend in human height of artistic gymnasts in three consecutive generations. Auxologic and related information were obtained from 49 elite artistic gymnasts via questionnaire. All were the members of national team. We figured out that artistic gymnasts are statistically smaller than their same-age peers. However, all of them have reached their genetically determined growth potential. The final height of artistic gymnasts across generations was increasing as well as the average female population. According to growth charts, constitutional delay is typical for artistic gymnasts. The age of menarche was statistically higher in the two youngest generations in comparison with the average age of their peers. According to our results, artistic gymnasts are not smaller due to excessive training from childhood, but on the grounds of genetic predisposition for small stature, which is favorable for this sport. Effect of breastfeeding on the growth of preschool children
Belušová, Zuzana ; Riedlová, Jitka (advisor) ; Sedlak, Petr (referee)
Growth, that is a sensitive indicator of children's health, should be evaluated in relation to suitable reference data. Under the term "physiological growth of chidren" is understood growth of long-term breast-fed infants that is - in the first months of their life - different from the growth of infants, who were not breast fed. This Thesis is focused on evaluation of impacts the long-term breast-feeding has on the growth of children in their pre-school age and on the differences in comparison with the children, who were breast- fed only minimally or not at all. Data used for this Thesis elaboration were obtained from a questionnaire and by measuring the essential physical proportions of children in different nursery and primary schools in Prague. Thereafter; by analysing the received data, we have come to the conclusion that long-term breast-feeding does not have any significant impact onto stature, weight nor head circumference of pre-school children. Some differences were detected concerning the BMI values and thickness of skin folds; however, the results were out of accord with our expectations that the long-term breast-fed children will have lower BMI values than the children, who were breast-fed just minimally. Comparing the Z-score of the long-term breast-fed children with regard to the data from the...

Valtová, Alžběta ; Vorálek, Rostislav (advisor) ; Buchtel, Jaroslav (referee)
Title: Relations between high, jumping and speed-dexterity parameters in older students' volleyball Objectives: The aim of this work is to identify and evaluate the relationships between high, jumping and speed-dexterity parameters in older students' volleyball in the years 2008 to 2012. Methods: For the processing and evaluation of data retrieved from the results of standardized tests for volleyball in individual years and generally used method of comparison (comparison) data were also used basic statistical methods (arithmetic mean, standard deviation, maximum, minimum, range of variation, T-sections, McCall criterion). The evaluation was performed by means of graphs and verbal assessment. Results: In the selection of the 20 highest players in each year from 2008 to 2012 could not be confirmed that the majority did not reach above the average of the absolute values after smash jump start, but it was confirmed that the majority did not reach above-average values when measuring speed-dexterity test, known as K-test measured against a whole group of players in a given year. Furthermore, according to the processed data confirmed that most of the selection of 20 of the K-test the best players in each year from 2008 to 2012 will achieve above-average values of the absolute jump start after smash...

The analysis of effect of body height on wages in Czech Republic
Frank, Daniel ; Bíza Bisová, Sára (advisor) ; Čermáková, Klára (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze the effect of body height on wages of men and women in Czech Republic. I construct regression models using data gathered by survey in Prague and Zlin. Parameters of these models are estimated by using ordinary least squares method and also two-stage least squares method including instrumental variables. Because of large differences of locations I decided to examine mentioned cities separately. Research reveals the significance of the main explanatory variable only at model studying Zlin utilizing ordinary least squares method. An increase in human height by a centimeter is associated with a growth of his/her wage by 0.65 % on average.
