Chapters from Ladislav Malý's Life (1862-1956)

The main aim of this thesis is to describe the personality and life of Ladislav Malý (1862-1956), a teacher, writer, traveller and amateur national historian, who put forward the foundation of the Museum of Příbram. The thesis also tries to situate Ladislav Malý's life into the context of the era and to assess his importance in the history of Příbram, the Příbram region and the Habsburg monarchy, respectively the Czechoslovak Republic. The third task of the thesis is to assess if Ladislav Malý fits in this context and whether or not, in some way, he is out of it. The story about Ladislav Malý is not strictly chronological. As the title "Chapters from Ladislav Malý's Life" sais, the individual aspects of his life (teacher's work, writing, traveling, etc.) are described separately to make them easier to understand and to place them in the overall picture of the era of second half of the 19th century till the middle of the 20th century.
Life and works by Jindřich Malšínský

This Master's thesis deals with the life and work of the South Bohemian educator and writer Jindřich Malšínský. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part aims to describe by means of the biographical method the writers biography. The second part includes selected work of J. Malšínský with a specific focus on the interpretation of the novel called Principál by means of hermeneutic approach.
Characterizing literary characters in selected works of prose by Ladislav Fuks with a focus on peculiarities in behavior

The goal of this master´s thesis is to describe individual characters, especially the main characters, in selected prose of the well-known Czech writer Ladislav Fuks. This thesis will be primarily focused on the unusual behavior, peciliarities, features and the character of the protagonists. The biographical part of the thesis will be focused on the author´s personality and lifestyle. The bibliographical part will be focused on a detailed analysis of the protagonists in selected titles. More than ten characters will be compared. The primary method used in this thesis will be: analysis, interpretation, along with the use of the description and confrontation of the individual protagonists. The prime benefit of this thesis lies in a more detailed description and comparison of the behavior and character of the individual figures.
Media responses of literary works with the prison theme by Jiri Stransky and Karel Pecka

The master diploma thesis "Media response of literary work with the prison theme by Jiri Stransky and Karel Pecka" maps the beletric works of Jiri Stransky and Karel Pecka which are influenced by their time in Communist prisons. The work deals with critical reviews of these literary works and it is based on contemporary reviews published in literary and other periodicals. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of reviews is included in a practical part of the master diploma. It is preceded by a theoretical part. In the theoretical part we shortly think about the importace of literary criticism but mostly important we clarify the conditions which led to the creation of Stransky's and Pecka's works. Thanks to the preserved documents from The National Archive and from The Archive of Security Forces we can now read about Stransky's and Pecka's arrest, interrogation and imprisonment in Communist prisons in the 1950s. Jiri Stransky was imprisoned in the years 1953-1960 and Karel Pecka between 1949 and 1959. The preserved documents outline also other repressions of Karel Pecka towards the State security, which occurred after his repase from prison in the sixties. The Media Response to the Writers Convention 2015

This master's thesis deals with the media response to the Writers Convention that took place on 5 and 6 June 2015 in Prague. This convention was the first meeting of that name in the post-communist era. By naming it such, the organizers claimed a clear succession to conventions that happened before the year 1989 - especially to those in 1956 and 1967, which became important turning points not only culturally, but also politically. The 2015 Convention was organized by Writers Association - a professional organization established in November 2014. One of the reasons why it was founded was the conviction that the organisation named Writers Union, existing from 1989, is not functional anymore and does not sufficiently represent authors' interests. The first two chapters inquiry into the history of both of these organizations with the aim to identify problematic aspects in their operations. Through their media reflection, the history, activities and themes with which they deal are introduced. The aim is to show the broader issue of official writers associations as well as the relevance of the Writers Association as an organization representing the literary public. The topic of indigenous people in the literature of conquest

This work loooks into the literature of conquest of 15th and 16th century and focuses on the theme of indigenous population. The work is based on writings of six authors, which are Christopher Columbus, Hernán Cortés, Bernal Díaz del Castillo, Francisco López de Gómara, Bernardino de Sahagún and Bartolomé de las Casas. The main objective of this work is to compare the views of mentioned authors, to find common characteristics but also to introduce differences in the opinions on the indigenous populations of the New World.
The Reflection of Writing in Sešity by Jan Hanč

This bachelor essay focuses on the analysis of the texts about the author's own writing in the section Sešity from Události by Jan Hanč. It deals with a portrait of the writer and his craft in this literary work. Within the interpretation of the text, the writer pays attention to the identity of writing subject or the relation between writing and physicality. She also gives a stylistic analysis of Sešity with an emphasis on the communication situation.

The bachelor diploma thesis "Media responses of literary works with the prison theme by Jiri Stransky" deals with literary works of Jiri Stransky which are influenced by his staying in Communist prison. The work deals with critical reviews of these literary works and with critical reviews on movies which are based on those literary works. It is based on contemporary reviews published in literary and other periodicals. A part of the bachelor diploma thesis is an interview with Jiri Stransky about literary criticism, circumstance and conditions of the origins of his works and about his other activities connected with his staying in Communist prison in the fifties. The interview is included in the annex. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of reviews is included in a practical part of the bachelor diploma. It is preceded by a theoretical part. In the theoretical part we shortly think about the importance of literary criticism but mostly important we explain the conditions that led to the creation of Stransky's work.
