Sodium-ion batteries: research of carbon based negative electrode materials
Homolka, Tomáš ; Máca, Josef (referee) ; Libich, Jiří (advisor)
This work focuses on the research of hard carbon as a promising negative electrode material for sodium-ion batteries. The first part deals with electrochemical cells and their development in general. Then lithium-ion cells, their history and the materials currently used are mentioned. The next section discusses sodium-ion cells, their development so far, current issues and differences compared to lithium-ion cells, as they appear to be one of the promising post-lithium technologies with the potential for rapid commercialization. In the practical part, properties of some material samples are tested with a focus on their capacity and coulombic efficiency.

Kmoníček, Jiří ; Špiláček, Michal (referee) ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with nuclear reactors using liquid metals and heat exchangers used in nuclear power plants. Furthermore, a thermal calculation is performed for the selected steam generator. The drawing documentation of selected parts is also included.
Advanced carbon structures as a material for Na-ion batteries
Bečan, Jan ; Čech, Ondřej (referee) ; Kazda, Tomáš (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the description of individual types of batteries. The first part is focused to primary and secondary batteries, materials for their positive and negative electrodes with a focus on lithium-ion batteries and their changes over time. The next section focuses on a more detailed description of sodium-ion batteries, used electrode materials and to their problems. Practical part is focesed to preparing of electrode materials and to completing of measuring electrochemical cell and to discribing of measuring methodes and to evaluation of measured data.
Negative Electrode for Sodium-ion batteries
Šimek, Antonín ; Jaššo, Kamil (referee) ; Libich, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor thesis contains general introduction to the issue of batteries, their basic principles and distribution. It is mainly focused on the research of electrode materials for negative electrodes of sodium-ion batteries, which do not use lithium for their function. Thesis is also focused on lithium-ion batteries, because their development is closely linked to sodium-ion batteries. The practical part mainly contains the synthesis and characteristics of sodium metatitanate, which is used as active material in negative electrode mass.
Temperature dependence of negative electrode capacity for sodium - ion batteries
Šátek, Dominik ; Libich, Jiří (referee) ; Máca, Josef (advisor)
This work focuses on sodium-ion batteries. It describes the basic principles of accumulators, focusing more on secondary cells, their electrodes, especially negative electrodes. The work is lightly based on the basics of lithium-ion batteries. The practical part of the work is the production of negative electrodes Na2Ti3O7, which are further measured at three different temperatures. These measurements are then evaluated.
Negative Electrode for Sodium-ion batteries
Šimek, Antonín ; Bača, Petr (referee) ; Libich, Jiří (advisor)
This master’s thesis is focused on the research of negative electrode materials for sodium-ion batteries. It contains a general introduction to the issue of batteries, their brief historical development, basic operating principles, key parameters and classification. Attention is paid to lithium-ion batteries, which are the most used technology today. Sodium-ion batteries as their potential replacement, especially in the field of energy storage from renewable sources, are based on lithium-ion technology. Promising candidates for the material for the negative electrode of sodium-ion batteries are sodium titanates. Their synthesis and subsequent electrochemical characterization of electrodes using sodium titanate as the active material are included in the practical part of this work.
Sodium cooled fast reactors
Daňhel, Aleš ; Katovský, Karel (referee) ; Foral, Štěpán (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the sodium-cooled fast reactors. It comprehensively describes the problem of sodium-cooled fast reactors. Attention was paid to the basic specifications and parameters of these reactors. There was briefly described nuclear reactions which are under way in core of sodium-cooled fast reactors but also chemical reactions which are linked to function of liquid sodium as a coolant and heat transfer substance. Attention was also paid to the differences in the reactor core configuration and to the machine device specific for sodium-cooled fast reactors. Further on this bachelor’s thesis puts on the overview of sodium-cooled fast reactors that have worked, are still working or are under construction in each country all over the world. There was briefly described generation IV nuclear reactors, particularly its history and reasons that originate generation IV. Under generation IV was also described nuclear reactor SFR and highlighted differences compared to existing sodium-cooled fast reactors. In the practical part of this bachelor’s thesis is easily made a calculation of the heat transfer from the fuel rod to the cooling sodium and there is also mentioned course of the heat transfer coefficient along the fuel rod. This calculation was made by computing program MATLAB.
Expanded Grpahite as Negative Electrode Material for Aporotic Intercalation Systems
Kaňa, Michal ; Čech, Ondřej (referee) ; Libich, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis deals with lithium-ion batteries. It focuses primarily on the materials which are the basis of negative electrode materials, especially on natural expanded graphite. The aim of this thesis is delineate problems of lithium-ion batteries and the possibilities how to improve their basic parameters such a capacity and current carrying capacity. The first part focuses on the description of the functionality of a lithium-ion battery. The second part focuses on the production of negative electrodes, measuring their properties and characteristics. In the last part, there are evaluated and compared individual negative electrode in the role of host of lithium and sodium ions according to the obtained data and then there are the conclusions draw
Determination of selected elements in cereal flours and their gluten-free alternatives
Venclová, Veronika ; Hraníček, Jakub (advisor) ; Nováková, Eliška (referee)
This study deals with the determination of calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, iron, zinc, copper, manganese and molybdenum in cereal gluten flours and its gluten-free alternatives. The flour samples were digested using a microwave device and the elements in solution were subsequently determined using an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer. Optimization of the digestion of the selected flours was performer prior to the actual determination of the elements. The aim of the work was to determine the above listed elements in the flour samples and to establish a basic overview of the elemental composition of the different flours. This overview and comparison of the different flours is intended to help the people with celiac disease to choose gluten-free alternatives to wheat flour. Keywords Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, microwave digestion, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, iron, zinc, copper, manganese, molybdenum, wheat flour, gluten-free flours, celiac disease
