Sexuality and partnerships of people with intellectual disability: society´s perspective

This bachelor thesis is focusing on the society´s attitude to romantic relationships and sexuality of people with intellectual disability. The thesis is devided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the definition of terms like intellectual disability, romantic relationships and sexuality. Moreover it addresses specifics of romantic relationships and sexuality of people with intellectual disability, it warns of sexual abuse and it also tries to highlight the importance of sex education and providing information about romatic relationships and sexuality to people with intellectual disability. Finally, the theoretical part of the thesis shifts its attention to the rights of individuals with intellectual disability to lead a sexual life, then it describes the development of Czech society's attitudes towards romantic relationships and sexuality of individuals with intellectual disability and it also focuses on the prejudices and myths about sexuality and romantic relationships of persons with intellectual disability which are the most commonly circulating in society. The practical part leads to fulfill the aim of the bachelor thesis. The aim of the thesis is to explore the view of Czech society on romantic relationships and sexuality of people with intellectual disability, including the view on sexual abuse, sex education and providing information about sexuality and romantic relationships to people with intellectual disability. The practical part of the thesis uses quantitative research. A questionnaire was applied to collect data. Eight hundred thirty eight respondents took part in the survey. The bachelor's thesis can serve to increase the general awareness of the society on the topic of romantic relationships and sexuality of individuals with intellectual disabilities and also as a subject for reflection on our own attitudes towards this topic.
Awareness of Sexuality - Sex Education in Primary and Secondary Schools

(EN) The topic of this bachelor thesis is the teaching of sex education in primary and secondary schools in the Czechia and selected foreign countries. The thesis describes the basic concepts related to sexuality and sex education. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate and compare how sex education is implemented in different countries. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on how information is conveyed to pupils in the subject of sex education and what are the aims of this subject. Subsequently, the basic methods of teaching sex education and the approaches to this subject in different countries are also described. The thesis concludes with a summary of the results and proposing recommendations for improving the quality of teaching sex education in primary and secondary schools in the Czechia.
Needs and attitudes of leaders of leisure activities in relation to the sexuality of adolescents

The presented bachelor's thesis deals with the attitude and needs of youth workers working in NGOs in relation to the topic of adolescent sexuality. The theoretical part first describes the legal system under which the youth workers act and it then contextualizes local non-governmental organizations which the youth workers are a part of. Lastly, the theoretical part provides an introduction to the topic of adolescent sexuality. The practical part of this undergraduate thesis consists of a qualitative research. The data were collected via semi-structured interviews carried out with three respondents of the target group (meaning youth workers). Considering the nature of the research question, the data were subsequently phenomenologically interpreted so that the phenomena which arose from the research could be better defined and understood.
Sex education at the 2nd stage primary school

This Bachelor thesis deals with a topic of sexual education and primarily focuses on implementation of it to lower secondary education. It consists of two parts. In the theoretical part is described a detailed definition of sexual education, a historical context to human's sexuality, a historical conception, and a current situation of sexual education in the Czech republic. The thesis outlines sexual education in the curriculum, motives, and methods to teach sexual education at schools, just as it poses principles, purposes, and conditions of sexual education. Furthermore, it describes activisation methods, topics, approaches to sexual education in the world and a strife between proponents and protestors of realising sexual education in schools, including preventing programs. The empirical part present teachers teaching sexual education at lower secondary school and their approaches to it.

Conception of Sex Education in School Educational Programmes of Selected Elementary Schools and Grammar Schools

For children and adolescents, sex education is a topic important for personal development and future life. Given the nature of the subject, views of the problematics of sex education vary both between and among students and teachers. The goal of this thesis is to analyze educational programmes of elementary and secondary high schools with a focus on sex education-related topics and analysis of natural history and biology textbooks in the context of sex education. This thesis also explores the relationship of students and teachers to this problematics via the use of questionnaires. Analysis of school education programmes revealed differences in inclusion of sex education-related topics in specific school subjects and in teaching time allocated to these subjects. All analyzed human anatomy-depicting 8th grade natural history textbooks include sex education-related topics. Results from questionnaires showed that children recieve sex education-related knowledge primarily from friends and school, despite the fact that majority of them is not comfortable discussing this topic with teachers.
Education about menstruation at the lower secondary schools by external subjects

The master diploma thesis concentrates on the issue of education about menstruation at lower secondary schools. Through qualitative interviews with external subjects who run workshops or lectures related to the topic of menstruation at schools, I have mapped the ways of teaching about this phenomenon. The primary objective of my work is to inform about the topics that are directly connected to the education about menstruation. Last but not least, I believe my work goes beyond the physical education and into the sociocultural area and seeks to destigmatize the natural physical process that menstruation is.
Teaching options of sexual education and reproductive health at elementary schools

TITLE Possibilities of teaching sex education and reproductive health at selected elementary schools AUTHOR Bc. Tereza Drbohlavová SUPERVISOR PhDr. Hanušová Jaroslava, Ph.D. ABSTRAKT This thesis deals with the topic of sexual education in terms of teaching this topic at primary schools. First part of this thesis contains overview of basic concepts related to sexual education, brief history, available and recommended teaching aids (material and non- material) and recommendations for teaching pupils with special educational needs. Main goal of the work is to create a comprehensive overview of how sex education teaching takes place in selected elementary schools in terms of teaching evaluation, discussed topics or organization form of teaching. Survey results are .... in second part of this thesis. These results shows, that the sexual education teaching is very diverse from school to school. Most of the surveyed school prefer discussion that gives pupils an opportunity to express themselves and develop thoughts. Discussion between teacher and pupils was marked by 116 teachers, which is 97 %. Another important result is the importance of sex education for pupils from the teachers' point of view. Knowledge of primary school health education teachers about contraception

The diploma thesis Knowledge of health education teachers at primary schools about contraception deals in the theoretical part with the field of health education at universities in the Czech Republic with a focus on the implementation of a course with a sexual reproduction theme and the inclusion of the topic of contraception. The practical part is made up of the results of a questionnaire-based electronic survey investigating the knowledge of teachers on the topic of contraception. The main goal is to determine the knowledge of health education teachers teaching at the second level of elementary schools on the topic of contraception using the number of correct answers. The first sub-goal is to compare the knowledge of interviewed teachers with approval of the subject of health education and without approval of the subject of health education. The second partial goal is to compare the knowledge of novice teachers (less than 5 years of teaching experience) and teachers with more than 5 years of teaching experience. The third sub-goal is to find out the professional qualification and approval of health education teachers. Psychological Aspects of Prevention of Sexual Risk Behavior with Attention to Attitudinal Changes in Adolescents

Sexual risk behavior is a phenomenon affecting physical and mental health of an individual. In this paper, the psychological aspects of specific types of sexual risk behavior with attention to its causes as well as its consequences are presented. It is focused on a developmental period of adolescence in the context of the risk behavior syndrome in adolescents. Furthermore, effective approaches to preventive activities are discussed. As for the objectives of programs, the main aim is to influence the attitudes of adolescents. These changes should be reflected in their behavior and can be measured. The paper projects a questionnaire for attitudes towards sexual risk behavior of adolescents entitled Inventory SP-20 that is also used in a research design. In the experiment, changes in attitudes within the preventive programs are measured. The change can be an indicator of effectivity of the programs.
