Quantified subjects and their agreement with the predicate

The bachelor thesis deals with the subject-predicate agreement in sentences with a quantified subject. The theoretical part informs the reader about the general issue of agreement, and shows its various forms in the Czech and Russian languages. It also summarizes the basic knowledge of the predicate agreement with a quantified subject in Russian, and maps the factors that influence this agreement. It focuses only on the predicate number, which is exactly in these cases variable. The practical part verifies findings from the theoretical part with the help of data from the Russian national corpus. Four factors have been verified, which should influence the predicate number. These were: word order, animacy, agentivity of the subject and quantifier itself. The corpus data have shown that the word order and quantifier have a fundamental influence on the predicate number. The animacy has a significantly lower impact and the agentivity of the subject is negligible.
Cognitive assumptions of interferential phenomena on the grammatical level in the case of Russian-Czech individual bilingualism

The thesis shows the approaches of cognitive grammar to the description and analysis of case category's functioning in Czech and Russian languages. Attention is limited to the cognitive grammar as it interpreted by American linguist R. Langacker. Cognitive researches on Slavic languages by L. Janda are also crucial for this diploma. From this point of view the thesis's author studies the interferential phenomena which are typical for Russian-language speakers when they use the Czech language. In other words, by means of conceptual apparatus relevant to cognitive grammar author explains the different use of case category in both these languages. The Strategies of Bilingual Childen Upbringing in Czech-Russian Speaking Families

The thesis is designed as a qualitative research dealing with the implementation of strategies of bilingual children upbringing in Czech-Russian-speaking families. The main goal of this thesis is to examine the implementation of the bilingual upbringing strategy on Czech-Russian-speaking children between two years and a month of age and seven years and eleven months of age. It attempts to complete the missing information about Czech-Russian bilingualism, while providing characteristics of the strategies of bilingual upbringing which are implemented in the given families. The main goal of this thesis is to discover and describe which strategies of bilingual upbringing are being used in parenting in Czech-Russian-speaking families. The theoretical part introduces bilingualism as a term and its definition, followed by the concepts of bilingual family and bilingual upbringing. Then the strategies of bilingual upbringing, basic phases of bilingual language development in bilingual children, interference and mixing up languages, positive interference, switching the language codes and language borrowing, along with biculturalism and bicultural education are described. At the end, the importance of rituals in family life is discussed. The empirical part was realized on the basis of qualitative research using a semi-structured interview, an assigned Russian Test for Bilingual Children and a summary and interpretation of the results. In the analysis of the data, the OPOL strategy (one parent - one language) and the extension of this strategy, depending on the language knowledge of the parents, was found to be the most used in families. In addition, we found that children had better linguistic skills in families where strategy selection was made in advance and a certain strategy followed, rather than in families where parents did not consider and pursue purely intuitive strategies, or where no strategy has been consistently followed or parents have mixed languages when communicating with each other. These results were confirmed by the Russian Language Test for Bilingual Children, which we used more as a supplementary method, rather than a ěseparate measuring instrument because the research file is not big enough to make a clear conclusion. The results of the test were then analysed qualitatively.

Markus Giger Abstract: This research paper presents a comprehensive picture of non­finite verb forms in Russian, Czech and German supported by a corpus analysis based on the parallel corpus InterCorp CNC. Equivalents of each of the non­finite verb forms were analysed manually in each of the monitored languages. The data obtained served for typological classification focused on non­finite verb forms as secondary predicates. Different frequencies of the individual forms and mutual competition of various means in language also indirectly result from the analysis. In Czech we may observe generally a strong tendency to express the semiprediaction by means of a finite verb form in a sentence structure. As regards non­ finite verb forms, the actively used forms are participle and verbal nouns, i.e. forms which relate to the existing part­of­speech paradigms. Due to being inflectional they express explicitly syntactic relations. The bachelor thesis compares selected Czech translations of the drama The Government Inspector written by Gogol. The thesis summarizes Gogol's lifetime, his bibliography and the origin of his work. The thesis also analyzes the content of drama The Government Inspector including the characters. Furthermore, it is focused on theoretical knowledge of translatology. In the thesis are described particularities of Russian. The thesis also introduces two of Czech translators and the age of their work. Morphological defectiveness as a problem of teaching Russian as mother tongue and foreign language

The Diploma Thesis "Morphological defectiveness as a problem in teaching Russian as a mother tongue and a foreign language" occupies with the cases of explicitly codified defectiveness in morphological system of standard Russian. The chapter on verbs describes the issue of defectiveness paradigm in the 1st person singular in a certain group of verbs. It also includes the illustrations of such defectiveness forms from the internet forums and references about the problem both from prescriptively grammars and studying materials intended for native speakers and students of Russian as a foreign language. The chapter on nouns occupies with broken paradigm of nouns in genitive plural. This problem is taken from the historical perspective and again it contains the examples from the internet forums, codified grammar books and individual books. The chapter on participles examines the formation of active participles of the future tense which are codified as no normative but also illustrations from the literature of the past centuries and present, which can be found on the internet forums, show us that the problem is quite topical.
