Roma on the Czech countryside: Determinants of exclusion, potentials for inclusion
Hurrle, Jakob ; Sýkora, Luděk (advisor) ; Bernard, Josef (referee) ; Sidiropulu Janků, Kateřina (referee)
The dissertation project Roma on the Czech countryside: Determinants of exclusion, potentials for inclusion deals with the situation of Roma in Czech rural municipalities. The starting motivation for the author's exploration of this topic has been information about the growing number of segregated localities in rural areas. In the local public discourses within the peripheral areas, this phenomenon has often been explained as the consequence of poverty-driven urban-rural migration. However, as the migration of socially excluded populations into disadvantaged areas stirs a lot of fears and negative emotions that provide a fertile ground for the spread of rumours, the author's preparatory research soon revealed that it is necessary to carefully distinguish between myths and reality. The author's desire to understand the complex processes behind the emergence of new Roma localities in rural areas required a combination of working methods: The author analysed the national policy and regulatory framework and realized empirical research in five micro-regions in different parts of the Czech Republic. In addition to this, data were gained through the realization of a country-wide survey with two different sets of questionnaires, which targeted rural municipalities with socially excluded localities and urban social...

Kolářová, Kateřina ; Perlín, Radim (advisor) ; Hupková, Martina (referee)
Ability to obtain grant titles in selected rural municipalities Abstract An important theme of the Member States of the European Union is rural development. The bachelor thesis deals with the cause of the success of profit grant titles of the Rural Development Programme, Operational Programme for Environment and Regional Operation Programme NUTS II Southwest. Svoboda, Petr ; Perlín, Radim (advisor) ; Smejkal, Miroslav (referee)
This thesis deals with the topic of strategic planning and rural development. The target of research was a Local Action Group Landscape of my Heart. The aim of the dissertation was to evaluate the efficiency of the Strategic plan LEADER for the period 2007-2013. The analytical section is divided into two parts. Through a qualitative research - a standardized observation of indicators of development potential of settlements - it was found, that the selected variables (especialy value of grants invested in the municipality) had a negligible effect on the aesthetic appearance of villages. The second part of the analysis was performed using a quantitative method. Analysis of the statistical indicators of development found no correlation with the above evaluation of these indicators for the chosen variables. The selected research methods didn't prove noticeable efficiency of the strategic plan LEADER.

The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the development and success of rural municipalities within the administrative district of the Hradec Králové municipality. The thesis will take into account the influence of external development factors on the success of the municipalities, i.e. the influence of size in the form of population and the influence of location in the form of distance from the city Hradec Králové. In the spirit of the currently prevailing institutional directions of development, the emphasis on internal development potentials and actors and the so-called bottom-up approach in the rural development paradigm, municipalities will be evaluated on the basis of indicators based on these concepts, which can be used to assess the level of development and therefore the success of a rural municipality. The output of the evaluation will be an overview of each village and how its location in relation to the centre and its population affect its development. The final determination of successful and threatened rural municipalities will be compared for the entire Hradec Králové ORP. The thesis does not aim to establish a new theory of the approach to the study of the development of rural municipalities, but through one of the many approaches to assessing the development of rural municipalities to...
