Energy consumption of equipressure and various pressures technical alcohol distillation
Audy, Dan ; Leštinský, Pavel (referee) ; Smejkal, Quido (advisor)
This hork compares the heat consumption of two units for the production of technical alcohol. The aim is to compare ordinary arrangement of rectifying distillery with an alternative arrangement, based on a modified pressure device profile. The first unit is based on the classic arrangement brewhouse, working at atmospheric pressure. The alternative unit works with different pressures in columns. In this case, the pressures are chosen so that it was possible to use heat from the head of overpressure rectification column for reboiler of vacuum mash column. The principle of pressure differences between the two columns and appropriate choice for this difference also allows the beneficial use of surplus heat. It also reduces the risk of clinkering incrusts in reboiler mash column because this works at lower temperatures than the mash column atmospheric embodiment. The comparisons of the media in this work are: The amount of steam used for reboilers of both columns, the amount of cooling water used for condensation and cooling of process streams. Furthermore, an approximate estimate of electricity consumption for pumps and other machinery. For both units is considered the same amount of mash and the same amount of product of comparable quality. The product was a technical alcohol 96.4% aa at a temperature of 25 ° C.

Overview of continues variable transmission design
Fryčar, Michal ; Dočkal, Kryštof (referee) ; Šperka, Petr (advisor)
Friction variators are used in many industries mainly for their ability to continuously change the engine-to-output gear ratio while machine is running. In this paper, six types of construction were described (using a belt, chain, ball or toroidal, conical and disc wheel). Their properties were then compared based on the maximum transmitted power and transmission efficiency. The results calculated using Hertz's theories shows, that belt, chain and toroidal constructions are transmitting the highest amount of maximum torque. These results are in accordance to earlier studies in this field and they are intended to serve as a source of information for further research on topic.
Mechanism and Effects of General Anaesthetics
Páchniková, Nina ; Groborz, Ondřej (advisor) ; Hrčka Krausová, Barbora (referee)
General anesthetics are key pharmacological agents that induce a reversible state of unconsciousness and allow surgical procedures to be performed. Despite their widespread use, the exact mechanism of action of general anesthetics remains partially unclear. This work provides a comprehensive review of historical and current theories of anesthetic function, examining general mechanisms of action and relevant target protein receptors including GABAA, glycine and NMDA receptors. It deals with the effects of specific anesthetics, namely etomidate, propofol, ketamine and isoflurane, examines their clinical effects, mechanisms of anesthetic action and interactions with various receptors. The thesis also discusses the implications of these findings, potentially informing future research directions. Key words: Anaesthetic, Pharmacology, Receptors, Review, Hypothesis
Therapeutic potential of ibogaine in treating addiction
de Donnová, Selma ; Vacek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Minařík, Jakub (referee)
Presently, addiction constitutes a major global issue, both for people directly affected by it, and for society. Many people would benefit from innovative, safe, and effective treatments. Psychedelic renaissance in the 21st century brings potential solutions for some of the most common psychiatric issues, including addiction. The molecule subjected to the most extensive scientific research in this area is ibogaine - atypical psychedelic of plant origin displaying a complex mixture of dissociative, oneirophrenic, and hallucinogenic effects. This thesis is a non-systematic review of scientific literature published mostly after the year 2000, aiming to summarise information about the therapeutic potential of ibogaine in treating addiction, including risks, efficacy, and comparison to other types of treatment. Total number of citations included in this thesis is 92. Published scientific literature provides several general conclusions. Ibogaine is a potent substance that has caused several fatalities. These instances and further research suggest that ibogaine is dangerous particularly for people suffering from cardiovascular health conditions, in combination with other substances, and in absence of medical supervision. Clinical studies show, that in certain conditions, and in a controlled environment,...
Literary - critical response of selected works by Jostein Gaarder
Benešová, Anežka ; Čeňková, Jana (advisor) ; Malý, Radek (referee)
The bachelor theses deals with two works written by Norwegian writer and philosopher Jostein Gaarder, the novel The Orange Girl (2004) and the novel The Castle in the Pyrenees (2011), and their selected critical responses. The aim of this thesis is to interpret both works and place them in the context of their critical responses. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the personality of the author, his life and the features characteristic of his work, and in a separate chapter further defines the terms literary criticism, review and interpretation. The practical part is divided into two chapters, each of which is devoted to one of the selected literary works - it offers its interpretation and analysis of Critical responses, which include Czech, German and English review published in the daily press, online media and culturally oriented periodicals or websites. The analysis of individual literary Critical texts is followed by separate subchapters that summarize the findings regarding the common features or differences of the analyzed reviews.
Narrative structures in Indiana Jones film series
Jeřábek, Jan Lucián ; Novotný, David Jan (advisor) ; Štoll, Martin (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on identifying narrative structures which can be observed throughout the Indiana Jones film series from the first episode (1981) to the fourth episode (2008). It analyses the film reviews and focuses on the way in which their authors have reflected the narrative structures. The thesis also aims on the analysis of the relationship between the positive or negative nature of the reviews and the overall success of each of the films of the series. Beyond that, the thesis deals with the presence of the myths in the film series Indiana Jones and evaluates to what extent it is being reflected in each of the reviews and in the reception of the audience. The qualitative content analysis of the reviews published in journals that specialise in the coverage of film news has proven the existence of a specific narrative structure that is present throughout the Indiana Jones film series. The analysis and subsequent comparison of the reviews has shown that the film critique consensually agrees that the specific narrative structure was respect in each of the films of the series. The analysis of the reviews has also proven the existence of a direct relationship between the nature of the reviews and the overall success of the films of the series.
