Distribution and functions of the reflexive morpheme sě in Old Czech
Pergler, Jiří ; Friedová, Mirjam (advisor) ; Lehečková, Eva (referee)
The thesis deals with the functions of the reflexive form sě in Old Czech. In Chapter 2, existing literature about the Old Czech sě is reviewed, in Chapter 3, I describe the method of my research, comment on the data used for the analysis and present the functions of sě that have been identified. In Chapters 4, 5 and 6 (the key part of the thesis), I describe three functions of the reflexive form, i.e., three types of constructions containing the form sě: accusative form of the reflexive pronoun, spontaneity and agent demotion. I focus on the most important syntactic and semantic characteristics of the constructions, then I analyse especially the animacy of the syntactic subject and the verbal aspect; both these criteria proved to be relevant for the constructions in question. The functions I describe are prototypes, therefore they have no clear boundaries. Hence, I also point out the ambiguous cases whose classification is not clear. In Chapter 7, I compare and contrast the three functions and show the most important differences between the use of the reflexive form in Old Czech and in Modern Czech.
Feminist art institutions: discursive and practical possibilities of progressive feminism in the Czech Republic
Jozová, Magdalena ; Kobová, Ĺubica (advisor) ; Dvořáčková, Jana (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with discursive and practical possibilities of progressive feminism in the Czech environment. The thesis discusses the current critique of feminism in neoliberalism and points to the processes of co-optation of feminist principles into the neoliberal system. Using the theory of sociologists Catherine Eschle and Bice Maiguashcy, the thesis further develops the discourse of progressive feminism, which offers a rejection of the logic of the neoliberal system and at the same time seeks alternative ways of feminist practice. Using the concept of progressive feminism, the Feminist Art Institution initiative, which seeks to bring feminist principles into institutional practice, is analyzed. The diploma thesis first analyzes feminist concepts that appear in the discursive conception of feminism of the Feminist Art Institution initiative. It also presents a case study of the practice of feminist art institutions with its conditions and consequences in a broader contextual context. The case study is based on semi-structured interviews conducted with representatives of twelve institutions at the initiative of the Feminist Art Institution. The diploma thesis offers a deeper insight into the issue of progressive feminism in Czech environment and its aim is to contribute to the debates...
Where Games and Stories Meet: Four Frames of Meaning in the City of Mist TTRPG System
Picková, Tereza ; Spalová, Barbora (advisor) ; Testa, Alessandro (referee)
. a. by the plurality of "worlds" the players operate in, and pertinent plurality of roles adopted frame analysis (see Fine 2002), describes three of these "worlds of meaning": the frame of the "the frame of the storytellers". Ad playing games resemble "storytelling events" (Georges 1969), and how this fact differentiates this genre from "classical" games. This framework broadens the understating of players d with the storyteller's agenda and expectations linked to this role. This unique form gaming world in the primary framework of the "real"
Exil on the brink of maturity
Vašíčková, Barbora ; Ezzeddine, Petra (advisor) ; Heřmanová, Marie (referee)
The intended work examines how the relationship between the unaccompanied migrants and the hosts is formed within foster care. Foster care could be defined as "long-term and repetitive contacts," where specific forms of relationship are negotiated between individual actors. I ask what activities and practices the actors make significant concerning the arrival, what ideas and imaginations on the part of the actors enter into the relationship, and how emotional rules are negotiated in a relationship. Last but not least, the work examines how the individual actors relate to the category of unaccompanied minors, that is, how this category, which has its legal definition, is negotiated. Key words: unaccompanied minors, foster care, family practices, emotional work, reflexivity
Civic engagement and health care system
Černá, Anna ; Numerato, Dino (advisor) ; Hasmanová Marhánková, Jaroslava (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on impact of civic engagement on health care system. It studies to what level this participation helps health care system transformation and change of a relationship between patients and political and professional authorities. It's aim is to provide a critical sociological analysis and explain social processes accompanying patients' engagement by using examples. Patient organisations - an institutionalised form of civic society with a potential to evoke social change - get into scope here. The ambition of this thesis is to show the applicability of the reflexivity concept to the area of health care, to enrich this analytical framework by multilevel approach to the health care system and therefore add to the discourse around civic engagement phenomenon by a systemic and structured view of dynamic relationships between patient organisations and health care system. The findings of the author are based on an analysis of semi-structured interviews with patient organisations representatives and available documents. The author emphasises the ambivalent impact of civic engagement which on one side reinforces individual transformations of micro, meso, macro and meta levels of health care system and also acts as a catalyst of wider sociocultural changes. On the other hand, it is accompanied...

Geometric properties of subspaces of continuous functions
Petráček, Petr ; Lukeš, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Netuka, Ivan (referee)
In this thesis we study certain geometric properties of Müntz spa- ces as subspaces of continuous functions. In the first chapter we present some of the most important examples of the Müntz type theorems. Namely, we present the classic Müntz theorem and the Full Müntz theorem in the setting of the space of continuous functions on the interval [0, 1]. We also mention several extensions of these theorems to the case of continuous functions on the general interval [a, b] as well as an analogy of the Full Müntz theorem for the Lp ([0, 1]) spaces. The second chapter is divided into three sections. In the first section we present some definitions and well-known theorems of Choquet theory, which we use to characterize the Choquet boundary of Müntz spa- ces. In the second section we present the result concerning non-reflexivity of Müntz spaces as well as its corollary describing the non-existence of an equiva- lent uniformly convex norm on these spaces. In the third section, we concern ourselves with the question of Müntz spaces having the Radon-Nikodym pro- perty. As a main result of this part we show that a certain type of Müntz spaces doesn't have the Radon-Nikodym property. The final chapter contains a summary of some known results as well as open problems related to the theory of Müntz spaces....
Negotiation of the "West" in Everyday Life of a Lebanese Family
Obeidová, Dina ; Zandlová, Markéta (advisor) ; Ezzeddine, Petra (referee)
Thesis Negotiation of "the West" in everyday Life of a Lebanese Family is focusing on the ways of designing the image of "the West" at a chosen Lebanese family, especially those members who do not have any direct "West" experience and their images of it are based on the information obtained from those who live there or from media. Research was conducted in Qalamoun city in northern Lebanon by the method of participant observation and unstructured interview. One of the central moments of the research was reflexivity. The research is based on theories of transnationalism and the concept of social networks. One of the primary identification and classfication of man is in Qalamoun his religion. A person, who believes in nothing is a threat in the sense that he is unpredictible (he has no clear governing rules). Keywords: Lebanon, orientalism, reflexivity, "western" culture
Becoming a doctor from the viewpoint of anthropologist
Rebendová, Eva ; Halbich, Marek (advisor) ; Hrešanová, Ema (referee)
This paper is about a process of a nascency of new doctors, and how it is possible to approach this topic from the viewpoint of social anthropologist. As a starting point, I use actor-network theory, which is one of the social science paradigms focusing on materiality. I consider it (on the basis of work by Bruno Latour and other scholars, who are dealing with this field), to be a remarkable actor in matters connected with human action, and thus an appropriate subject for an anthropological inquiry. Since the topic concerns medicine in the Czech Republic nowadays, I contribute to the knowledge of medical anthropology, which does not have such a strong academic base here as in the Anglo-Saxon world. Special attention is dedicated to a detailed description of activities leading to the formation of the text of this thesis. Reflexivity, on which I put emphasis, shall serve as the foundation of the context of genesis of an anthropological knowledge and also to describe the ethical concerns of the research. The main methods are observation and semi-structured in-depth interviews with twelve informants, who were medicine students or medicine faculty graduates.
