This bachelor thesis is concerned with the static project and the consideration of the carrier steel construction of the information centre that means the two-storeyed building with the 24 x 24m extent. The project is solved by two options. In both cases, the steel basis with components united by articulated joints is concerned. These are pillars, supporting joists and ceiling beams that are composited with a concrete desk so that they ensure the position stability in a horizontal direction. The both options differ from each other by the position stability method in a vertical direction. In the first case, the vertical clamps avoid the deformation. In the second case, two frame constructions are designed for both yawing directions. The result was the choice of the first method that is discussed in a more detailed way further.

Compensation of distortions caused by movements of objects scanned by a line scan camera

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na kompenzaci zkreslení v datech ještěrek získaných pomocí řádkové skenovací kamery (LSC), která snímá ultrafialové (UV) vlnové délky. Dýchací pohyby během skenování způsobují zkreslení šířky trupu ještěrky, což ovlivňuje konečný snímek LSC. Práce navrhuje metody zpracování obrazu pro úpravu těchto zkreslení, včetně extrakce kontur, interpolace a vyhodnocení pomocí referenčního snímku. Metodika má za cíl minimalizovat rozdíl mezi upraveným LSC snímkem a referenčním snímkem.

Anaphoric use of demonstratives in professional texts

The subject of the diploma thesis is a contrastive analysis of Czech and Spanish demonstratives in anaphoric use. The aim of the work is to map a selected sample of Czech and Spanish anaphors in philosophical texts of the 21st century. The work is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, the author discusses the phenomenon of deixis, classifies determinants and demonstratives, both from the perspective of Czech and Spanish grammars. In the practical part is performed the analysis of selected samples of anaphoric expressions, which the author randomly chose using the program SketchEngine. At the end of the work, the findings are evaluated and based on a contrastive analysis of the conclusion. The work is written in the Czech language.

The Use of Articles in English Newspaper Headlines

The newspapers are one of the most common ways how to obtain information about the world around us. However, to reach our interest it also needs to have a specific function, how to get our attention. From this reason, the language of the newspapers needs to be very specific and intentional. The main and important feature of the newspapers is the headlines. As far as the language of headlines is concerned, it needs to be very simple and effective. From this reason, it is very common that some features of the headline, which would be normally used in any other written text, could be omitted. The most believed parts of the headlines with a tendency to be omitted are determiners, especially the articles. This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of the use of articles in British newspaper headlines and investigates the possible tendencies for article omission or any other regular or irregular patterns connected with the use of articles in headlines.

Translation and analysis of Jonathan Franzen's Freedom

This bachelor thesis is focused on the problems which may occur, while translating from English into Czech, using as a foundational material a novel Freedom by American author Jonathan Franzen. The thesis is divided into two sections. For the purpose of the first, practical part, I have chosen two different extracts of the novel, one is taken from the middle of the book, the second one is the last part of the novel Freedom. The second section consists of my analysis, special attention is paid to the problems I had to solve during my translation. I comment on the choices I have made, usually also quoting from the books that deal with translation theories, I found especially helpful those written by Jiří Levý, Dagmar Knittlová and Zlata Kufnerová.

Prague: Charles University in Prague, Law Faculty, 2012 In this dissertation I address the principle of subsidiarity of the Administrative Procedure Code, in particular I address the issue of current, previous and future application of the general rules of administrative proceedings in certain administrative proceedings and other procedures of the administrative bodies. This topic, which is close to my profession, is seen from the practical as well as from the theoretical point of view. The Czech administrative proceedings are analysed in both aspects de lege lata and de lege ferenda. In introduction of this dissertation I describe basic terms relevant for definition of the mutual relation between legal acts. I emphasize mainly the possible meaning of the term subsidiarity and particularly its meaning expressed by the rule lex specialis derogat legi generali. I also address other terms such as reference, analogy ect. Functional and translation correspondence of English demonstrative determiners in translation from English

The aim of this thesis is to analyse Czech translation counterparts of English demonstrative determiners and determine the degree of correspondence in the use of demonstratives in both languages. The first half of the theoretical chapter defines the English demonstrative determiners on the morpho-syntactic level. Demonstrative determiners in English carry either situational or textual reference, which can be further divided into anaphora, cataphora and the non-phoric reference. Demonstratives also distinguish between singular forms (this/that) and plural forms (these/those), as well as between proximal (this/these) and distal forms (that/those). The choice of either a proximal or a distal form is not always influenced by solely spatial relationships. Less frequent instances of a co- occurrence of a demonstrative and a proper name (Vantage Theory), and of demonstratives with prominent cohesive features (Gradient focus theory), are also discussed. The second half of the theoretical introduction is focused on a morpho-syntactic classification of Czech demonstratives. Tell Me How Long the Train's Been Gone by James Baldwin: translation and stylistic analysis of three representative fragments

This bachelor thesis is focused on the problems which may occur, while translating from English into Czech, using the novel Tell Me How Long the Train's Been Gone by the American author James Baldwin. The practical part contains chosen extracts from The House Nigger. The theoretical part aims at the analysis of my translation. Special attention is paid to the problematic sections, which have been encountered while translating. Final decisions are provided with my comments often with regard to the helpful quotes from the books dealing with translation theories, especially by Jiří Levý and Dagmara Knittlová.
