Information Policy of Republic of Finland

This diploma thesis called Information policy of Republic of Finland is describing finnish e-government in present time. The text talking about Finnish Regulatory Authority - FICORA. This authority is subordinated to Ministry of transport and communications and it's main mission is making available information, protecting them, but also secure data transmission. With data protection organization helping the National Security Authority or the NSA. The text also describes finnish information policy, it's beggining, the present and the future strategy. It reveals the structure and organization of the whole information system, points out the obstacles it had to Finnish government in implementing e-government deal and what recommendations were given to the State by the OECD. Furthermore, this work demonstrates the most important portals, strategic plans and projects of the Ministry of Finance that the project e-government shielded.

The purpose of the thesis is to search out, analyse and evaluate an open access and commercial electronic information resources in educational theories available on WWW. First and sekond part determinates topic of education, describes his development, problems, nomenclature, experimental method and information support. The objective of the thesis is to analyse and evaluate selected bibliographic and full-text databases, digital libraries, portals, subject gateways and catalogs. Online services are especially emphasized. Analyses are elaboration in the Czech education theory context. Final summary evaluates results of analysis.

The Implementation Analysis of the Educational Portal with a Focus on Its Monetization

The subject of the diploma thesis titled, "The Implementation Analysis of the Educational Portal with a Focus on Its Monetization" is the creation of a strategy that could be used for a new educational portal and subsequently its monetization. Primarily, the portal will be designed for university students. The theoretical part is focused on basic terms associated with issues of portals, web content monetization and operational expenses for running a website. In the practical part, there is a questionnaire survey, with the target audience being university students. Besides other things, this questionnaire survey also identifies the biggest competitors of the project. The competitors are analysed and their services and contributions to students are compared. After processing the questionnaire survey, a different strategy for a new educational portal is designed.
Czech Electronic Book Market – Obstacles and Opportunities

This master dissertation "Czech Electronic Book Market -- Obstacles and Opportunities" analyzes Czech market with e-books. The aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of the current situation on the market in terms of technologies, distribution models and legal issues. It describes commercial, free and illegal sources in the market, including a description of digitisation projects in Czech libraries. The thesis also includes a theoretical introduction to e-books and their development in the past. Details are discussed, focusing on technology, modern electronic readers with electronic ink. For comparison, the thesis also analyzes the U.S. market with e-books. In analytical part the individual portals with e-books on the market, their supply and user interfaces are compared. The real example analyzes the costs of an e-book and its comparison to costs of a printed book. At the end of the thesis, alternative models of distribution requirements for establishment of a new portal with e-books are characterised, the Creative Commons licenses are described and the current trend of e-journals is mentioned. Finally, I suggest recommendations especially for sellers on the Czech market describe the advantages and disadvantages of e-books in terms of individual roles in the distribution model and estimate the future market development. More detailed information related to the comparison of different types of electronic ink, a list of electronic readers that are available on the Czech e-book market at this time and specific examples of various users' interfaces that are being used on Czech e-books portals can be found in Appendix.
Portal Solution to Conveying Information and Documents in an Organization

This dissertation works with data and information theory and describes several technological approaches for data and information sharing. These approaches are evaluated and compared to specific situations in companies. Dissertation deeply describes portal concept of the information and documents sharing which is described using SharePoint technology. Dissertation summarizes history and evolution of the SharePoint technology and describes the architecture and system functionalities. The functionalities ale described using implementation project in real company. Dissertation describes the implementation from the user requirements point of view, project management point of view and focuses on the point of view of development with concrete implementation tasks. Dissertation also brings project evaluation in terms of costs and company payoffs. It also recommends what to avoid for ensuring the successful implementation.

This diploma thesis concerns enterprise portals and its objective is to map their functional support, which they can bring to the company. Especially to the access integrationarea. To achieve this goal the following proces was selected: The first step was to create theoretical background which describes the area of enterprise portals and how it can be seen. In the following part were set main functional areas whose coverage may be assured by the enterprise portal. These areas are : presentation, personalization and customization, security, administration, content management system, search, collaboration, accessibility and portlets. Another part is focused on the selection of specific portal solutions which are evaluated and compared at the conclusion. These are chosen products : IBM WebSphere Portal, Microsoft Sharepoint Server 2007, Oracle Portal 10g, BEA WebLogic Portal. Personal benefit is particularly comprehensive look into the issue of enterprise portals. Theoretical background makes possible to quickly obtain information which are presented in a logically organizace form. It will ensure continuity in the knowledge absorption. Practical part offers look into the enterprise portal market situation and shows what can offer specific product and at what level.
