Testing of arc protection AFDD during normal and fault conditions
Křepela, František ; Dostál, Lukáš (referee) ; Kaser, Jakub (advisor)
The bachelor´s thesis deals with AFDD, a device that protects the low voltage electrical installations against fire caused by a serial or parallel arc fault. Although MCB and RCD can mostly disconnect the circuit when the parallel arc appears, only AFDD can detect the series arc fault. AFDD can be used only as additional protection. The theoretical part of this thesis describes the creation of electric arc, causes of house fires, and explains the principle of the Arc Fault Detection Device. The purpose of the practical part is to create real malfunctions that cause a series arc in the circuit and to test the function of AFDD. The next purpose is to repair the arc generator and to verify the function of AFDD using different materials of electrodes.
Service and fire ventilation in undeground car parks
Volný, Marek ; Sánka, Imrich (referee) ; Weyr, Jan (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with smoke and heat ventilation systems in underground car parks. In the theoretical part of the thesis, legislative and standard background is described. The theoretical part also contains description of fire dynamics simulation methods and effect of carbon monoxide on human health. The practical part includes the design of service, smoke and heat ventilation systems in the selected building. Functionality of particular design is verified by FDS simulations.
Cathedral today
Kovář, Martin ; Mléčka, Jan (referee) ; Štěpán, Marek (advisor)
The content of the work is ideas solution for the roof of the Notre-Dame in Paris, after the destroying fire in 2019. Main idea is to create garret space for spiritual people, which used to meet, study and pray without the contact with the tourists and fill in the gap after the old tower above the crossing. Concept based on the original garret, which was only for service. The idea is coming especially from the simplicity and effectivity of the old garret and pointing on some of his elements. Space under the roof should be simple according to the first floor of the cathedral. The function is reflecting simplicity of the spaces with the respect to historical cathedral. Garret is designed for spiritual people, who are working in Notre-Dame and makes a space for them, which will be calm place for meditation. For this purpose are there cells for individual studying, library, common space and chapel. Connecting and meeting point in the same time between the ground, garett and higher power is sanctuary. This part is getting light to the ground floor.
Study of the influence organic fibres on the fire resistance of concrete
Klobása, Jan ; Přikryl, Jan (referee) ; Sedlmajer, Martin (advisor)
The master thesis is focused on current issues of concrete behaviour under high temperatures. In the theoretical part, a search of knowledge about changes in concrete, which take place when exposed to thermal loads, which simulates the effect of fire, is performed, and summarized. It is also important to summarize the changes in the individual components that are used to produce concrete. This work describes the effect of high temperatures on mechanical and physical properties as well. There is an information about the most used fibres and their function in concrete. Emphasis is placed on describing the possibility of using recycled PET or cellulose fibres due to the positive environmental impact. In the experimental part, recipes with different types and amounts of fibres are proposed. The subject of the research was to determine how individual types and amounts of fibres affect the physical mechanical properties of concrete and their suitability for use at high temperatures. Microscopic scanning and study of changes in the structure of concrete was also performed.
Evaluation of the structural static condition of the existing structure
Svoboda, Štěpán ; Láník, Jaromír (referee) ; Schmid, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis focuses on the assessment of the structural-statical condition of a building affected by a fire. The purpose of the evaluation is to determine the extent of damage and explore possibilities for future use. The theoretical part introduces the issue of fires in various structures and examines the impact of fire on different types of materials and constructions. In the practical part, there is an own evaluation of the object, a static assessment, the results of the inspection and a summary of the conclusions from the evaluation.
Mechanical fracture parameters of concrete after exposure to high temperatures
Bejček, Michal ; Keršner, Zbyněk (referee) ; Šimonová, Hana (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the evaluation of mechanical fracture parameters of concrete after exposure to high temperatures. In the introductory theoretical part general principles of fracture mechanics with the concentration on a linear elastic fracture mechanics and non-linear fracture models for the concrete are summarized. The meaning of the three-point bending fracture test used for determination of fracture parameters is also explained. Further the influence of high temperatures on the partial components of concrete and general modeling of temperature loading is described. The practical part is concerned with the evaluation of fire experiments on the concrete panels including numerical simulations using GiD and ATENA software. The evaluation of data obtained from the three-point bending test carried out on specimens with initial stress concentrator taken from concrete panels is a main part of the diploma thesis. The values of modulus of elasticity, effective fracture toughness, work of fracture and fracture energy are determined from the measured F–d and F–CMOD diagrams after their proper corrections in the GTDiPS application. The evaluation of the selected mechanical fracture parameters was performed by StiCrack software using effective crack model and work of fracture method and DKFM_BUT software using the double-K fracture model. Finally, the attention is paid to the analysis of the obtained data.
Diagnostic properties of concrete exposed to high temperatures
Hudský, Petr ; Sitek,, Libor (referee) ; Bodnárová, Lenka (advisor)
This master’s thesis studies the problems of high temperatures on cement concretes, their following diagnostics from pre-treatment to rehabilitation, the emphasis was on the use of high-speed water jet. In the experimental part of the design of a concrete composition with basalt aggregate. Were reviewed the physico-mechanical properties after thermal loading. The influence of pressure water jet on the thermal load on concrete, pull-off test, the volume of the removed concrete with a strength evaluation and comparison.
Cathedral today
Klimeš, Jakub ; Mléčka, Jan (referee) ; Štěpán, Marek (advisor)
This project focuses on an ideal solution for restoring the roof of Notre-Dame in Paris, which burned down together with its spire on April 15, 2019. The main motive behind the design was to create a quiet space that will serve as a memorial of the fire and reflect the unity of the society that contributed to the rebuilding found. The primary step of the whole reconstruction is to find an adequate way of renewal and its ethical boundaries. Main attention is focused on the roof and on the spire of the cathedral. As a tribute to medieval builders who consecrated their lives into this magnificent piece of work. The exterior of the new design has the same silhouettes and proportions that it has got eight centuries ago, but with a touch of a modern day aesthetics. When designing the interior of the roof, it was really important to maintain a clear representation of Gothic architecture – the balance between darkness and light. The space is divided into two parts. The first part represents darkness, as an obstacle, which each of us has to overcome. The second part is full of natural light that seems to tear the roof of the cathedral and illuminates the entire space inside. At the heart of the design is a gem that matters the most, life. The spire of the cathedral is designed with four pillars that symbolize the connection of mind-spirit-body with physical world The idea of the spire reflects these seemingly different things, but together they unite into one piece.
Significance of emergencies modelling using specialized programmes
Ruhásová, Aranka ; Hradil, Jaroslav (referee) ; Fazekas, Monika (advisor)
The Master's Thesis deals with the usage of various software tools in emergency management and in environmental protection. Nowadays, on every step we make, we can face emergency situations which can cause great harm to the environment as well as to human life and property. The theoretical part provides an overview of software tools. Different software tools, their basic parameters, development and usage are described. There are also explained terms like geographic information system, etc. The practical part is focused on the instruments used in selected countries, including Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Hungary, USA, Canada and the United Kingdom. In the conclusion is the comparison of the effectiveness of software tools in emergency management and in environmental protection.
