The Influence of English on the German Language

The subject of the bachelor thesis is the occurrence of English language borrowings in contemporary German. In recent years, English has strongly influenced the lexical vocabulary of many languages, not excluding German. The task of this thesis is to find both similarities and differences in the process of adoption of anglicisms by the German language. Linguistic elements of English already fall into the lexicon of German speakers, and it is among the younger generation that they are exceedingly popular. The theoretical part will focus on the term anglicism, the history of anglicisms, their impact and penetration into the German language. Attention will also be paid to the formal adaptation of English loanwords in German and their place in contemporary communication. The practical part of this thesis aims to map the relationship of young people in particular to anglicisms. At the same time, it tries to find out what influence English borrowings have on German vocabulary.
Czech Employees Working Abroad and Their Knowledge of the German Language

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to assess the German language skills of Czech citizens who have or used to have experience in working in a German speaking country. The bachelor thesis focuses on the method of learning German, how important it was to learn the German language at a primary and secondary school, if these people had attended any language courses and how much they need the German language for their job. The introduction of the theoretical part of the thesis contains information about the number of Czech people living and working abroad, the countries they work the most and about the most common jobs they do. The empirical part of the bachelor thesis is formed by a questionnaire which is focused on abovementioned issues regarding the language skills of the Czech people working abroad. The conclusion of the thesis is the evaluation of the abovementioned questionnaire and the delimitation of the areas of interest for the development of the vocabulary and their comparison with up-to-date coursebooks. There are also topics that are important for getting a job in the German speaking countries.
Critical Points in Teaching German

This diploma thesis deals with critical points of German language teaching in primary and secondary schools. The first part of the thesis is focused on the researched issues from a theoretical point of view and presents the foreign languages didactics. It further describes the German language framework educational program and related concepts that can help to understand and facilitate the solution of critical points in German language teaching. The second part presents the evaluation and analysis of 25 questionnaires obtained from the IPUP KA7 project (Innovation of teacher training for practice, CZ.02.3.68 / 0.0 / 0.0 / 16_038 / 0006960). This survey was focused on the identification of critical points from the perspective of German language teachers at primary and secondary schools. Four of these critical points are analyzed in more detail and accompanied by motivational exercises that can simplify them for teachers and students as well.
The usage and the influence of anglicisms in the German journalism

This bachelor thesis treats the topic of the influence of the English language on the German language. It explores which English terms are regularly used in everyday life. The thesis is divided into two parts - the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part focuses on the development of the German language regarding the English lexicon and the international lexicon. The practical part explores the word meaning of each English expression, its usage, linguistic characterization, and categorisation. The list of anglicisms contents different areas - for example the words used in journalism. The aim of the thesis is to prove that German and English are closely interconnected. Utilizing an interactive whiteboard to learn verbs in German lesson

The aim of this master's thesis, "Utilizing an interactive whiteboard to learn verbs in German lesson" is presented in two parts. The theoretical part is devoted to aspects which influence teaching, and therefore the preparation of interactive materials. The practical part is focused on the proposal of activities used on the interactive whiteboard. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first chapter allows us to view the educative process from a psychological perspective, attempting to clarify the importance of relevant styles and strategies used effectively while learning a foreign language. The concern of chapter two is an interactive board and multimedia. Principles which should be followed by educators who are creating teaching materials are also introduced. Furthermore, there are presented internet portals which can be used in German lessons. The last chapter of the theoretical part is dedicated to grammar and the grammatical category - verbs. The practical part is predominantly based on creating your own teaching materials, which are designed to practise German verbs. The activities are split up into two sections (for elementary school and high school). An evaluation of the teaching materials results from survey. They were verified in the educational practice.
Teaching Foreign Languages at Primary School

The dissertation deals with foreign language teaching methods at the Primary School in the Czech, English and German environment. It includes the summary of the present basic knowledge about the foreign language teaching methods generally both in the Czech, English and German environment. Subsequently there has been presented and analysed the real use of foreign language teaching methods at the Czech Primary School at present. In conclusion there has been drawn further suggestion for a possible appropriate future development of the foreign language teaching methods at the Czech Primary School based on the research too.
German Foreign Cultural Policy in the Czech Republic after 1989: Promotion of the German Language

This thesis deals with German foreign cultural policy in the Czech Republic after 1989 in relation to the promotion of German language promotion. The thesis describes both the development of the conceptions of German foreign cultural policy and the promotion of German language based on activities of three German institutions: Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA), Goethe-Institut and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The research period is divided in two parts -before 1999 and since 2000, because the thesis assumes that there have been changes concerning quantity and quality of German policy regarding language promotion since about 2000. In addition the thesis searches for the effects on the real measures in the Czech Republic concerning the conceptual changes in German policy. After the 90's when the German was promoted massively in the Czech Republic as well as in the whole region of Central and Eastern Europe, the promotion of German has been rather declining since 2000. It is given by the lowering interest in the region just as by the lower importance that was attributed to the promotion of German. The state of pronunciation skills of selected consonants among the students at the commencement of bachelor degree.

This Bachelor thesis deals with the ability to correctly pronounce certain German consonants. The aim of this thesis is to ascertain the pronunciation abilities of new students of German studies on the Faculty of Education of Charles University. German and Czech consonant system is thoroughly described and compared in the theoretical part of this thesis. Difficult phenomena are listed, described and analyzed by the method of auditory analysis of students' recordings in the practical part. The studied phenomena were the phone Ich-Laut in the words welcher and Veilchen, Ach- Laut in suchen, dachte, nach and macht, Ang-Laut in ging, Jünglinge, Fasching and bringt, consonantal /r/ in the words grüßten, fragten, April, elongating /h/ in ihr, blüht and geht, asipiration in Wald, schönste, April and Oktober, and assimilation in words Veilchen, wird, gelb, webt and sind. Only the assimilation of voice (not articulation) was examined. The results were classified on the scale correct-good-wrong. The most difficult was the phone Ang-Laut, because the consonants appears in Czech only as an allophone of /n/ directly before the consonants /k/ and /g/. In German it's an autonomous phone. The elongating /h/ (Dehnungs-H) was pronounced correctly. Words with the change of voice in the end of the word were pronounced...
Hypertext and its didactic process for productive skills practise

TITLE: Hypertext and its didactic process for productive skills practise SUMMARY: The Master thesis deals with usage of the hypertext in the foreign language teaching. There was a didactic plan of the e-larning proposed in the realized pedagogic research, which was tested in use through the internet social network Facebook. The subject of the pedagogic research is the practise of the productive skills by students of german language at the A1 CEFR level. The intension of the research was the evaluation of the e-learning contribution at the area of the skills practise. This was evaluated on the basis of the didactical analysis of the authentical language material in hypertext, by pedagogical observation of the involved group and by further questionnaire. The teaching of foreign languages and the process of preparation of teachers of foreign languages in the period 1990-2012

This work focuses on changes in teaching foreign languages and on new requirements for education and training of foreign language teachers after 1989, including a brief survey of the history of foreign language teaching and the development of teacher training. It observes changes in the area of learning objectives, changes in the teacher - pupil relationship, changes in work methods. It deals with a new approach to the selection and use of teaching materials and the inclusion of new technologies in teaching. It discusses the implementation of both the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and the European Language Portfolio. The work presents in the form of interviews also personal experience with teaching foreign languages and possible ways to achieve the required qualification.
