The building lies on ribbon foundations and a bearing plate. The structural system is based on brickwork consisting of ceramic building blocks, supplemented by reinforced concrete on the basement floor, and makes use of an outside contact thermal insulation system. The roof structures are represented by reinforced concrete monolithic ceilings. The load-bearing structure of the roof consists of a nailed roof truss girder, with the bottom flange of the girder carrying an SDK soffit – the ceiling structure of the second floor. The building will have a central heating system comprising an electric boiler with an accumulation tank located in the boiler room on the basement floor. The apartment is set in a slightly sloping terrain. The building consists of 4 floors and basement. The building is based on foundation strips made of concrete. The vertical load-bearing structures are made of ceramic masonry, in the case of perimeter masonry, the load-bearing structure is supplemented by a contact thermal insulation system. Horizontal load-bearing structures are formed by semi-assembled ceramic ceilings. Roof is designed as a green roof. In the basement of the building there are 5 separate garages, utility room, workroom, carriage house and cellar. In the above-ground part of the building there are 9 housing units of a various layouts and sizes. Residential Building Renovation
Horn, Jiří ; Stránská, Zuzana (referee) ; Struhala, Karel (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is a renovation of a two-story family house in Dolní Krupá. The original house is from 1935. It has several newer outbuildings such as garage or storage spaces. The walls are made of solid fired bricks. There is a timber joist floor structure. The main building has a gable roof with timber roof truss. The outbuildings have flat and mono-pitched roofs. The reason for the renovation is the inefficiency of the aging building combined with nearing end of life of some building elements. Also, the layout of the building with multiple outbuildings built during its service life does not comply with contemporary housing standards. Therefore, a large part of the building will be demolished and replaced with new structures. Only the load-bearing walls on the first floor of the main building and the part of the building adjacent to the garage will remain. The new layout will consist of two separate apartments (one on each floor). The load-bearing structures will include ceramic masonry and reinforced concrete floor. The roof truss will be made of wood. The original appearance of the object will be preserved. The house will be heated with an air-to-water heat pump installed next to the north facade of the house. Each floor of the house will be air conditioned by a separated air conditioning unit. As the third part of the work, I chose a life cycle assessment (LCA), using several different building materials for a this renovation.
