Bumberová, Veronika ; Blažek, Ladislav (referee) ; Mikoláš, Zdeněk (referee) ; Tvrdoň, Oldřich (referee) ; Koráb, Vojtěch (advisor)
None of the company, including small businesses, if they want to survive in the current dynamic environment and growth, can not remain static, so some level of adjustment, improvement or change becomes an essential part of operating a business. In order for organizations to grow and survive in the current environment, they must respond to external and internal stimuli and develop systematically. Over time, organizations have developed a strong and persistent pattern of behavior. The aim of the dissertation thesis is to identify and explain the development approaches of small enterprises from the chosen service sector in the Czech Republic through strategic and other internally realized organizational changes and capturing the overall patterns of behavior in the form of the interactive effect of the attributes of the development of these enterprises. The thesis is based on the literature on corporate behavior in organizational theory and the subcategory of organizational changes due to the focus on aspects of decision making in organizations in a changing environment that deals with issues related to the different nature, context and process of change and their proactive or reactive character. The thesis is based on the researcher's pragmatic attitude in the form of a mixed research strategy implemented by a combination of quantitative and qualitative research on a sample of small firms falling under the category of knowledge intensive services. Based on the triangulation of the empirical data obtained from the questionnaire survey and the outputs in the form of a comparative case study on the two most represented in this category representatives (IT services and architectural activities), the results are presented with a view to answering the research questions and objectives stated in this work . The outputs of the dissertation identify specific developmental approaches in the behavior of the Czech population of knowledge intensive services as subsets of SMEs and also reveal the content of the context between the individual attributes of the development of these companies. The results of the research bring practical and theoretical benefits, which are discussed in the conclusion of this work.
Economic Efficiency, Competition and Equilibrium in Heterogeneous Production
Průša, Jan ; Benáček, Vladimír (advisor) ; Pertold-Gebicka, Barbara (referee) ; Klein, Peter G. (referee) ; Daraio, Cinzia (referee)
This thesis provides a bridge between two strands of efficiency literature. As we describe in the first part, the theory of efficiency is generally focused on equilibrium and mild devia- tions from it. In contrast, empirical studies document large variations in efficiency that are persistent in real economies. We describe two theoretical concepts as driving forces behind fluctuating performance of companies. Firstly, efficiency is derived from competition and is dynamic by its nature. As production happens in time, changing supply and demand conditions induce the ne- cessity to continuously adjust production processes. These changes are implemented under conditions of uncertainty, which directly leads to regular inefficiencies, implying that out- of-equilibrium situations are normal rather than rare. Secondly, standard models typically rely on price exogeneity to separate technical and allocative components of overall economic efficiency. We point out that this assumption is likely to fail due to extreme heterogeneity of the units of analysis. We elaborate in detail on the significance of heterogeneity in efficiency models, especially the heterogeneity of capital. As a result we demonstrate how various combinations of heterogeneous assets imply further swings in efficiency. We show that integrating both...

Its main objective is to determine the amount of small and medium-sized enterprises, which outsource marketing services and determine which factors affect decision making in this area. The most important criterion in the selection of agencies are personal recommendations, as well as the amount and importance of the former clients of the agency and the price of services. These conclusions are based on quantitative research that was conducted in order to obtain primary data. The research sample included 288 responses of small and medium-sized enterprises. Research was evaluated using the statistical program Statistica v.12 Office and MS Excel. The results of the quantitative survey were then compared with opinions of representatives of marketing agencies and marketing freelancers. This feedback has allowed the author to formulate appropriate recommendations for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Success factors of small and medium sized enterprises
Peschel, Stefan
This dissertation focuses on identification of key aspects small and medium sized enterprises in Germany should pay attention to in order to survive on the free market. The dissertation comes up with critically analysed and researched success factors that support entrepreneurs in their decision making and steering of their enterprise. The most important factor for success regarding the respondents of the survey and interviews is the power of endurance closely followed by the aspect of flexible structures. Additionally it seems to be important to have support and backing from the family in order to own/manage/found a successful small and medium sized enterprise in Germany and survive on the free, self regulating market. Furthermore innovation in processes and products show significance towards being relevant for a successful SME. Another aspect that seems to be important for these German SMEs are competent employees. There are certain aspects that show significance towards a successful small and medium sized enterprise that are related to the owner and family. The owner seems to be one key aspect for a successful SME, as power of endurance, the personality of the owner/manager, "gut-feeling" decisions of the owner and a visionary leadership all relate to the personality of the individual owner or family. These four aspects relating to the personality of the owner are all ranked under the first eleven success factors of the survey. Researched SMEs tend to be steered and managed with a long-term perspective with the strategy of differentiation and rather consider success as creating values for the future not simply monetary profit.
