Problematika intenzivních chovů hospodářských zvířat z environmentálního hlediska
Střelcová, Anna
The thesis deals with the issue of intensive livestock farming. Literary review describes the definition of the term, the historical development of meat consumption including the development of livestock farming and the current legislative framework of the issue. Furthermore, the negative impact of intensive farming on the environment, human health and livestock itself is discussed. The ethical level of the topic and possible existing alternatives are also outlined. The research part analyzes the results of the research based on the application of the methodology of the field research, the methodology of observation using the ethogram, the methodology of statistical evaluation and the comparative methodology. There are described and compared behaviors in intensive and alternative cow and hen breeding in different seasons of the year. Based on the results, the fulfillment of the ethological needs of farmed animals and their welfare are assessed. The evaluation of the results confirms the hypothesis that intensive breeding of dairy cows and laying hens does not meet the ethological needs of farmed animals.
Zhodnocení trendu rozvoje ekologického zemědělství v podmínkách ČR
Kikal, Jan
The diploma thesis deals with the evaluation of development and trends in organic farming in the Czech Republic using the results of statistical surveys conducted between 1990 and 2017 at the level of the whole Czech Republic and individual regions. The obtained data on organic agriculture were processed into graphs and regression models of the development of the monitored characteristics were created, which included the area of organic farming, the share of organic farming on the total area of agricultural land, the number and size of organic farms, the area of permanent grassland, arable land, permanent crops and number of farmed livestock under organic farming. Based on the results of the analyses, positive effects are listed as well as weaknesses and reserves in organic farming in the Czech Republic.

Methods of sperm selection for human and veterinary assisted reproduction
Pavlová, Hana ; Komrsková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Koubek, Pavel (referee)
Sperm selection is an important process influencing the progress of fertilization and the quality of resulting embryos. Competent sperm cells can be isolated from an ejaculate sample according to different criteria. Standard methods allow for sperm selection based on conventional parameters, particularly motility and density. Using advanced methods, sperm cells are selected according to molecular aspects including for instance membrane charge, presence of specific receptors, molecules indicating ongoing apoptosis, and others. The latter procedures are widely used particularly in human practice. Their use is uneconomical in veterinary practice and standard methods including the centrifugation step in the procedure are primarily used to select the sperm of livestock. Sperm cells of livestock are also often selected according to whether it carries the X or Y chromosome. Thus, the sex of the offspring can be effectively determined in order to increase the efficiency of the production of animal products. This thesis presents the most frequently used methods of sperm selection for the purpose of oocyte fertilization in human and veterinary sectors of assisted reproduction and discusses their impact on the parameters and fertilization potential of isolated cells.
Legal Protection of Animals, Focusing on Livestock and Furbearers
Čapková, Petra ; Derlich, Stanislav (advisor) ; Stejskal, Vojtěch (referee)
Legal Protection of Animals, Focusing on Livestock and Furbearers The diploma thesis titled "Legal Protection of Animals, Focusing on Livestock and Furbearers" provides a comprehensive overview of current framework of the legal protection of animals in the Czech Republic. The thesis is divided into seven chapters and several sub-chapters. The initial chapters present information on the historical tendencies and philosophical bases of animal protection, as well as on the development of the perceiving of animals as subjects of law, which has over several centuries formed into our contemporary idea of an animal, its protection and legal standing. Crossing over from international and European legal sources, the thesis gradually shifts its focus on Czech legislature which has undergone marked changes over the last year, namely through the amendment 246/1992 Sb. aimed at eliminating animal abuse. Constituting a key aspect of the work, specific terminology is discussed in chapter 3. Terms such as animal or abuse are clarified consulting the law. As the title makes evident, the pivotal chapters of the thesis provide a more detailed delineation of the legal regulations concerning livestock and furbearers. Individual sub- chapters then discuss the particularities of their breeding, welfare, transportation...
Methodology for use of technological waters on agricultural land: 2nd edition; Certified methodology for practice
Mühlbachová, Gabriela ; Svoboda, Pavel ; Klír, Jan ; Vegricht, Jiří
The production of technological waters from stables is evaluated in the methodology for the use of technological waters in agriculture. The corresponding legislation is described. Attention is focused on technological waters from livestock breeding and simple processing of plant products. The production of technological waters is evaluated from the point of view of individual operations in which the technological waters are produced, particularly in milking and cooling equipment. The characteristics of technological waters, particularly the nutrient contents and potential risks of their use on the agricultural land are also evaluated in the methodology. The influence of technological waters on the growth of plants and microbial biomass content and activity in the soil was experimentally verified. The methodology contains the recommendation for the application of technological waters on the agricultural land.

The impact of intracytoplasmic sperm injection on succesful development and fertility in selected mammal species
Kaufman, Jonáš ; Petelák, Aleš (advisor) ; Petr, Jaroslav (referee)
5 Abstract This thesis aims to summarize the current knowledge about the development and reproductive capacities of individuals conceived by artificial conception, especially intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), and to make a comparison with naturally conceived ones. The focus is primarily on human assisted reproduction, even though scientific work with human gametes and embryos faces ethical difficulties. However, the main objective is to determine whether ICSI has a negative effect on offspring, partially using results from animal models. Furthermore, this thesis compares birth outcomes, incidence of birth defects, cognitive and reproductive abilities and both genetic and epigenetic integrity of individuals conceived naturally with those conceived via ICSI. As of yet, according to available information, ICSI appears to be a safe artificial method of reproduction. Poor results may often either be explained by the reduced fertility of parents, or their significance is negligible. Keywords: artificial fertilization, ART, ICSI, reproduction, offspring, mouse, livestock, human
