Vavřička, Ondřej ; Lepič, Martin (advisor) ; Jelen, Libor (referee)
Geographic dimension of terrorist activites of ETA organization in Basque Country and Spain Abstract The submitted thesis maps terroristic activities of the ETA organization and searches for connections between the affected area and a specific local context. The levels of provinces were used for the analysis of the attack location within Spanish Kingdom. The time of the organisation activity was divided into the period of Franco's Dictatorship, the period of democracy and a special transitional period in between those two forms of government. The assumption that the fall of Franco's regime would fundamentally change the locations of the attacks was not confirmed by this thesis, although the partial changes occur. The following part concentrates on autonomous Basque Country. At the level of comarcas, any correlation between a region and it's selected socioekconomic indicators was not discovered. Competitive explanation is that most of the attacks are focused on administrative and regional centres. This coincides with the main assumption which prefer the symbolic importance of the area, rather then socioeconomic status.
ETA in Spanish fiction movies : product or creator of Spanish collective memory?
Macáková, Martina ; Kasáková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Tomalová, Eliška (referee)
The Master's thesis "ETA in Spanish Fiction Movies: Product or Creator of Spanish Collective Memory?" focuses on the interrelationship between history, cinematic representations and the way individuals perceive the traumatic past of Spanish history related to the Basque separatist organization ETA. Althought in the recent years there has been a proliferation of literature on collective memory, the approach, which this research follows, fills the gap by combining the macro-level (public) and micro-level (personal) of collective memory. Using the dynamics memory perspective, a theoretical framework that has grown popular within the multidisciplinary territories of collective memory scholarship, the thesis analyses four movies dealing with the ETA subject. These works allow us reflect on how the Basque separatist organization is portrayed in Spanish cinema and how this image has changed through time. To complement the investigation at the macrolevel, semi-structured interviews with 14 participants were conducted, searching for answers how cinematic representations influence people's perception of ETA and its actions. In both cases, thematic analysis was employed as a technique of data analysis

Mornsteinová, Lucie ; Labus, David (advisor) ; Sýkora, Jan (referee)
The major objective of this master thesis, is to describe the process of forming and development of the social groups connected with the concept of ritual pollution kegare in Japan at the turn of 16th century. The main questions are: In which direction did the development of these groups tend to go from the outset of the Japanese Middle Ages? Did the policies of the unifiers of Japan cause any disruptions to this development, and if so, what was the new direction? Was creation of the Edo outcaste order also motivated by an effort to restrict access to strategical commodities, or was it only a side effect of individual edicts and restrictions? To answer these questions I used two approaches. At first I diachronically described the development of groups connected with the concept of ritual pollution from the ancient times, and to this data I applied Mary Douglas's grid and group theory. Results of this show that during the time period in question development of groups of eta tanners was significantly accelerated, while the status of the non-persons groups of hinin was stagnating, or regressing. This thesis hopefully offers a brief insight into the overlooked aspects of Japanese history, and sheds some light on the reason for the discrimination of descendants of the burakumin group which in Japan...

Stodůlka, Jindřich ; Plachý, Jan (referee) ; Petříček, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is going to concentrate on the issues associated with the technology of mechanically anchored coating waterproofing of roofs. Today the mechanical anchoring belongs to the most widespread way of how to stabilize the layers of roofing material against the effects of wind uplift particularly in indoor buildings. However some malfunctions occur more and more frequently which cause leaking into the constructions or even the destruction of the whole roof in the worse cases. The practical part of this thesis is going to concentrate on the fasterners which belong to the most important elements of the mechanical anchored system. The aim of the experimental measurement is to draw a comparison of the quality of fasteners which are distributed on the Czech market. Thereafter the obtained figures are going to be compared with the theoretical calculating procedures according to the valid designed standards.

Transformation of national liberation struggle into terrorism - the case of ETA
Lexová, Alžběta ; Zemanová, Štěpánka (advisor) ; Dubský, Zbyněk (referee)
Basque separatist group ETA (Euskadi Ta Batasuna) was founded in 1959 to achieve the full independence for Basque country at any price. This thesis puts a question when the nationalist fight for Basque independence, which has started in 19th century, turned into terrorist organization. Until 1975 the actions of ETA could be compared to guerrilla actions, because their attacks were aimed almost exclusively against the representatives of general Franco's fascist dictatorship. After year 1975, although Spain was going through transformation into democratic system, ETA still attacked the representatives of police, army and public servants, till the 1987, when it chose the department store as its target on purpose and this attack caused twenty one dead and forty five injured civilians. Nowadays ETA claims, that the ceasefire, that has been declared in the beginning of 2011, is permanent, general and trustworthy.
