Point of view on today´s world according to Peter Singer.

The aim of the thesis is to provide a complex picture of the contemporary world in the context of Peter Singer's ethics. In the introductiory chapters we will analyse the main philosophy of Peter Singer's works, namely The Animal Liberation, Practical Ethics, Applied Ethics, Writings on an Ethical Life, One World: Ethics and Globalization. On these examples we are trying to prove that this author and his theories are frequently missunderstood by the general public. During the analyses we will consider the general model of moral and ethical values of the society and put them in the context of Singer's philosophy. We will also include the detailed analyses of the spiecism which is a crucial topic for all Singer's works as well as for this thesis. Except this issue, we will also include a detailed analyses of the moral and ethical values and how they have been viewed in different historical periods by different influention philosophers.

Animals as Laboratory Objects: Analysis of the Power Discourse PhDr. Tereza Vandrovcová Abstract This dissertation thesis encompasses a critical discourse analysis of the power correlates of expert knowledge and other factors that can hinder the open and unbiased discussion concerning the ethical aspects of the use of nonhuman animals in biomedical experiments. A brief history of "the animal" is first provided before the issue is positioned within the theoretical framework of Animal Studies. The fourth chapter is composed of an overview of the most frequent arguments both for and against the use of animals in biomedicine. The author draws upon her research as she analyzes scientific texts to reveal how laboratory animals are socially constructed as scientific objects and subsequently describes the effects this has on the perception of their moral value. A series of semi-structured interviews with critics and advocates of animal experimentation, such as animal rights activists and laboratory workers who conduct experiments on animals, is the pivotal section of the paper. The Human Embryo in the Perspective of Reproductive Medicine

Title: The Human Embryo in the Perspective of Reproductive Medicine. Since when one begins to be a human person? In this work, we take into account the issues, which in most cases lead many people to resort to the reproductive medicine, which generally is referred to as the infertility problems. But in some techniques, the reproductive medicine loses up to 80% of human embryos. In the minds of many people, the human embryo is seen only as a cluster of cells. However, is it really just a cluster of cells, or is it already a person at an early stage of development? As far as one is already man, is he now also the human being, of whom are in our Western culture related rights, especially the right to life? Could we then say with a clear conscience that with these techniques we are acting ethically? We dividend our work into six chapters. In the first and second chapter, we will be briefly acquainted with the issues of infertility, of the reproductive medicine techniques, with the development of the human embryo and with handling of the embryos in the course of these techniques. Ethical dilema and economic aspects of overtreating terminally ill patients in current society Abstract The aim of this thesis is to outline problems of over-treating terminally ill patients in the final stage of their illness in current society in context of ethics, bioethics and economic factors. Based on medical, ethical and economic texts, we will try to analyse if current ethical principles, law standards and economic level of development of current society ensures enough such a medical care to each and every individual in line with human dignity. Do the health workers who treat terminally ill patients realize their power as well as powerlessness when it comes to fighting life and death? What makes them to start and continue such therapy that does not bring any benefit to the patient and what is the purpose to this? Is it possible to die with dignity? Can death be more meaningful in comparison to life? The first part of this thesis will focus on the theoretical point of view of these problems. Handle the issue of surrogate motherhood Institute. Main findings: In this thesis we dealt with issues of bioethics, bioethical principles and in particular the issue of surrogacy. Above all, we focused on fundamentals of bioethics, its principles and interconnection with the law. Furthermore, we describe surrogacy institute, its history and progress. Another part is devoted to the current legislation, Surrogacy in the Czech Republic and comparison with the legislation in selected countries around the world. The thesis also includes recommendations of medical ethics in the process of surrogacy. In conclusion, we have focused on the risks that may occur. This bachelor thesis deals with human rights and biometrical technologies. It treats increasing use of biometrical technologies which influence more and more often the lives of considerable number of people and it points out the advantages and disadvantages of this method. Biometrical technologies are here regarded from the human rights standards' point of view. It shows the attitude and limits of human rights concerning these issues. It deals with individual biometrical technologies including particular way of their utilization. It points out misuse of biometrical technologies in the past by means of numerous examples and uses them to outline future usage of these technologies.

Autonomy of Man and the Narrative Understanding of Bioethics

My work is a critical view of a modern principle of personal autonomy and an idea of autonomous man, which stems from philosophy of liberalism. The practice of personal autonomy in bioetics, which takes over the features of this political concept and does not comprise a metaphysical question about a man seems to empty a concept of humanity. My work tries to turn attentation to this problem and show the difficulties of personal autonomy when presented from the secular point of view. I want to offer then the concept of narrative ethics as a vision of supplementing the concept of modern principal bioetics.
