Stránská, Eva ; Kinkorová, Ivana (advisor) ; Šteffl, Michal (referee)
Title: The effect of functional training on parameters of body composition Objective: The main objective of the study was to analyze changes in selected parameters of body composition, which occurred due to a four-month exercise program. Method: The work has the character of an empirical research, where the main method is observation. The observed group were consisted of women (n = 15), who were attending to fitness center Partyfit in Prague. We were measured the basic anthropometric parameters (body height, body weight, BMI). To obtain the input and output data to evaluation the parameters of body composition was used bioelectrical impedance BIA (Bodystat Quadscan 4000). For determination of input and output parameters was used paired t-test (statistical significance p <0.05). To assess the substantive significance we applied (Cohen - d). Results: The results of our study show that during the specific four-month exercise program occured changes in all parameters of body composition. The most significant differences were detected in the parameter total body water 2.2%, resp. (0.9 l), total body fat 2.2%, resp. (1.3 kg) and fat free mass to 2.2%, resp. (1 kg). For other parameters the differences were slightly less significant. Key words: Active lifestyle, anthropometry, bioelectrical impedance,...

Title: Body composition in patients with idiopatic inflammatory myopathies Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare selected parameters of body composition in patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) with age- and sex-matched healthy controls (HC). Another objective was to evaluate the effect of selected clinical parameters in patients with IIM on the detectedvariability of the parameters of body composition and on physical activity of patients. Methods: The research sample consisted of 84 individuals (54 IIM, 30 HC). In anthropometry, we measured: body height (cm), weight (kg) and BMI (kg/m2 ). Using bioelectrical impedance analysis BIA 2000-M we obtained values: total body water (TBW in%), muscle mass (LBM in kg), body fat (BF in%) cell mass of lean body mass (BCM of FFM in%), and the proportion of extracellular/intracellular matrix (ECM/BCM). Using Lunar series iDXA we obtained values: muscle mass (LBM in kg), body fat (BF in %), bone mineral density (BMD in g/cm3 ), and visceral fat (Visceral in kg). To these measured values we added a questionnaire on physical activity Human Acitvity Profile (HAP). Statistics: T-test, Mann Whitney U test, Cohen's d, and Partialeta-squared. Results: Selected values (mean ± SD): body height: IIM 164.7 ± 9.1 cm, HC 170.3 ± 7 cm; body weight:...

Pae, Alain ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Krištofič, Jaroslav (referee)
ABSRACT Title: Comparison of selected physical parameters artistic gymnasts and classic bodybuilders in the off-season period Objectives: The goal of the thesis was to determine and compare basic anthropometric parameters and selected physical parameters of artistic gymnasts and classic bodybuilders in the off-season period. Methods: The work had the character of empirical research whereby the key approach was observation. Investigated group (n = 12) were divided evenly into two subgroups based on sports specialization. At the first stage, values for basic anthropometric parameters were obtained. Then, with the use of bioelectrical impedance analysis, values for selected parameters of body composition were measured. Two-sided Mann Whitney's U test was used to compare statistical significance of differences. Results: Statistically important differences of the measured values have been recorded in the following parameters: body weight (p value = 0,002), body fat (%, kg) (p value = 0,002/0,002), fat free mass (%) (p value = 0,002), skeletal muscle mass (%, kg) (p value = 0,004/0,002), BMI (p value = 0,002), SMI (p value = 0,002) and total body water (%) (p value = 0,004). The only parameter that has not reached statistical significance (p>0,01) is the absolute amount of fat free mass (p value = 0,132). A...

Sehnalová, Lucie ; Kovařík, Miroslav (advisor) ; Hronek, Miloslav (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biological and Medical Sciences Student: Lucie Sehnalová Supervisor of master thesis: PharmDr. Miroslav Kovařík Ph.D. Title of master thesis: Determination of body composition by bioelectrical impedance method in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the top leading causes of death and its morbidity and mortality worldwide is still increasing. Besides the respiratory symptoms there are often developed alterations in metabolism and body composition in COPD patients. Clinically important are mainly malnutrition and skeletal muscle protein loss. Especially if the respiratory muscles are affected, the lung function is negatively influenced. The main aim of this study was to compare the body composition between 15 patients with COPD 3rd and 4th stage and 9 patients of control group without respiratory impairment and comparable anthropometric characteristics (age, body height and weight). By means of bioelectrical impedance analysis we determined the composition of main body compartments. In patients with COPD was the mean amount of lean tissue of body weight (rel LTM) 47.2 ± 8.4 %, amount of fat mass (rel Fat) 37.8 ± 6.4 % and mean overhydration (OH) 0.31...

Mňuk, Josef ; Petr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Coufalová, Klára (referee)
Title: Nutritional aspects and body composition in motocross Objectives: The goal of this work is monitoring nutritional habits and parameters for the assessment of body composition and somatotype for Czech junior national team in motocross and enduro. Methotds: There was used four day record of consumed food to map out nutritional habits, which was evaluted by software Nutirs. The input data of body composition were obtained by Bioimpendance InBody 230. Following were also measured selected anthropometric parameters. Results: The results of our study indicate quantitative variations in motocross riders nutrition, especially the negative energy balance and the low proportion of carbohydrates in the diet in pre-season and in the day of the race. These can be some way influenced by individual variability. The research somatotype and body composition suggests that in relation to physical abilities are motocross riders and riders Enduro the most versatile talent for sport. Frechová, Vendula ; Zemanová, Jana (referee) ; Vránová, Dana (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deal with relationship between physical activities and constitution of a human body. The first theoretic part is focused on components of foodstuff which are important for human nutrition, energy metabolism and different types of movement activity. The particular components of a human body such as body water, active body mass and body fat are described in the next part of the thesis. Diagnostic methods of human body’s constitution are mentioned in the last part. An analysis of a body constitution has a task to diagnose body components quantitatively and therefore provides main information about fitness. The practical part of the thesis contains influence of physical activity on body constitution, which was tested on the first group of people, and a study of eating manners of the second group of people.
