The thesis explores the production of sound for animated film – its specifics as well as aspects of realization and of preparation and audio dramaturgy. It examines how they impact storytelling and the extent to which it is possible and useful to work with them from the very beginning of development of an animated film. The thesis also presents the practical and creative possibilities of cooperation between director and sound designer, alongside factors that may have a positive or negative influence in this regard. It draws on literary sources, interviews with the makers of animated films and knowledge acquired by the author in the field of directing and screenwriting of animated films. The thesis confirms the importance of the role of sound in animated film and its positive influence on the resulting quality of AV work (unless it has been omitted from the start of the filmmaking process). It summarizes the basic approaches that allow animators to work with sound in animated film as a fully-fledged narrative component.

Animated documentary film is relatively a new genre, which is presently growing and becoming more popular. Simple definition of this genre is animated film with standard elements taken from documentary films. There is true confession, emotional strength, and unlimited borders, which animation provides. Almost everytime it is a topic of the stories from the real world, for example: topics of human rights, topics exceptional but also universal, which can be very easy to identify. This thesis is specifically focuses on the topic of personal confessions, that tell their own story. I also had to deal with this topic when I was doing my bachelor animated documentary film and at the end of it I summarize it with my personal evaluation and experiences.

It studies the relationship between animation and American culture and examines how animation reflects and shapes American identity in terms of race and how it critiques and promotes American values and attitudes regarding race and ethnicity in particular. Considering the historical, political, legal and cultural background of the contemporary eras of American animation, the thesis analyses the portrayal of racial and ethnic features in animated cartoons from the 1920s to the 1960s. Such stereotypes represent, in my opinion, significant aspects of societal and cultural changes in American society of the examined eras of animation. The beginnings of the entertainment industry affected the booming era of animation by implementing commonly recognised literary stereotypes of the African-Americans into animated cartoons. It provides a brief systematic overview of the main eras that have significantly highlighted the start of animation as markers of race and ethnicity. Simultaneously, it discusses the problematic...
