Global and Local Initiatives: Advantages of "the Global" in Development Education Programmes
Šuráňová, Dorota ; Parízek, Michal (advisor) ; Kučerová, Irah (referee)
International development aid is one of the main elements of international relations and politics. It has taken place since the 1950's through great international organisations and institutions. Nevertheless, the international approach towards development has been considerably criticized. Critics have pointed out the generality of methods of development and the "one size fits all" paradigm. These programmes did not reflect and adapt enough to the conditions of specific areas, and preferred centralised approaches. At the same time a range of regional and local development initiatives has emerged. Despite the great success of local forms of aid, the international aid is still widely in demand and not decreasing. The aim of this thesis is to demonstrate the advantages of international presence in developing education programmes, with the following research question: What benefits do international organisations or institutions bring to national education programmes? Based on participatory observation of education systems in the Philippines and Myanmar, the thesis assesses the main advantages of international development programmes and the benefits for their participants. On the example of two international non-governmental organisations, namely Asia South Pacific Association for Basic and Adult...

Trushko, Sviatlana ; Macková, Alena (advisor) ; Pohl, Tomáš (referee)
RESUMÉ THE PERFORMANCE OF A LEGAL PROFESSION (THE BAR) IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC AND IN BELARUS The aim of this thesis is to characterize the practice of law in the Czech Republic and Belarus. This theme was chosen because of the comparison of advocacy in both countries and also because of the limited number of literature sources about law practices and advocacy organization in Belarus, to at least briefly cover the operation of this Institute from the very beginning. Czech Republic and Belarus are democratic countries. Czech Republic is a parliamentary form of government. According to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus (1994) it is a presidential republic, with strong centralization of legislative, executive and judicial power in the hands of the president, as evidenced by presidential decrees, which significantly affects the advocacy activities and organization in Belarus. A common feature of both countries is the nature of the mission of advocacy - providing skilled and professional legal assistance in accordance with the law; serving the principles of legality and justice. This thesis is systematically divided into individual chapters. The first chapter defines the key terms related to the Advocacy Institute and the right to legal assistance in general. The second chapter is devoted to the...

Černá, Lucie ; Sláma, Milan (advisor) ; Kosek, Jan (referee)
Professional ethics in legal practice Key words: ETHICS, ADVOCACY, PROFESSIONAL ETHICS The primary subject of my diploma thesis is professional ethics related to carrying out advocacy in the Czech Republic and institutions related to the ethics of solicitors. The reason for my choice of the aforementioned subject is mainly my experience in a legal office, where I have encountered many positive and negative approaches to carrying out this profession, and also the public's interest in the ethics of advocacy, which is growing concurrently with the rising needs of citizens to use services by legal consultants and representatives. In the first chapter of my work I describe the key terms (ethics, morals, law), definition of which is fundamental for understanding the issue of professional ethics and I also outline the mutual relations between these terms. In the second chapter I briefly present the short but varied history of advocacy in the Czech Republic, which began in the 12th Century. The third chapter focuses on definition of the institute of professional ethics. The first part concerns professional ethics as a set of moral standards valid for a specific profession and the second part defines professional ethics in relation to carrying out advocacy. The third part of the third chapter is called the...
