Kubátová, Monika ; Kašpar, Ladislav (advisor) ; Přibyl, Ivan (referee)
Title: Accomplishments of our cross-country skiing at the Winter Olympic Games Abstract: This thesis is focus on history of Czech and Czechoslovak cross-counrty skiing at the Winter Olympic Games from the first competition at WOG Chamonix 1924 to Vancouver 2010. Using the direct method and the method of content analysis it documents and summarizes the accomplishments of our cross-country representatives. It finds out that representatives of such a small country reached splendid results. But the available literature doesn't mention them as far as they didn't win a medal. Very interesting is the comparison between two skiing generations using the interview with their representatives Kveta Jeriova and Katerina Neumannova. The resulting comparison between their answers reaches a conclusion: the first of them had much harder conditions and worse facilities. In spite of this fact, she proved to be successful but her career was shorter and the number of medals smaller. Keywords: Winter olympic games, history, cross-country skiing, accomplishment

Significance of the Olympic games for tourism development
Golovenko, Anastasiya ; Kondrashov, Alexey (advisor) ; Vaško, Martin (referee)
The theoretical part of my thesis is focused on the history and development of the Olympic Games from its foundation to the present days. It shortly describes the Olympic Movement and everything that refers to this term. The aim of my thesis is to rank sporting events into the tourism system, determine their impacts on tourism and give typical examples. There is also a second goal, aiming to confirm the hypothesis that sporting events can significantly affect tourism. The practical part includes the examination of the impact and importance of the Olympic Games for the economic and social spheres. It will focus in detail on the Olympics in Vancouver 2010 and the present Olympic Games in Sochi. The work also examined the social aspects of Olympic visitors and the destination itself, for this reason a questionnaire was created to inspect whether this event affects the image of a tourist destination.

JONÁKOVÁ, Šárka
This thesis is focused on evaluating age structure of cross-country skiing racers who participate in World Championship and Olympic Games. The work shall show if the age of sportsmen can be determined as one of the factors of success, what is the optimal age limit and how is this age limit changed in the course of time or if it stays the same. After studying available literature and after looking up certain data on the internet, the results were evaluated in Excel, the graphs were created and the final report was written. The results showed: the average age often oscillates among 24 and 36 years in the majority of disciplines, it has been rather decreasing mostly in the discipline od women - cross-countra skiing for 5 km both at the World Championship and at the Olympic Games. The age decreases at shorter distance and a little higher age increases or predominates at disciplines for longer distance. The total arithmetic mean of the age of the maximum performance is 27.99 years in cross-country skiing at World Championship and at winter Olympic Games from 1970 to 2007. The arithmetic mean of the age of winners in World Championship is 27.75 years. The arithmetic mean of the age of racers participated in winter Olympic Games is 28.33 years in that time. Average age of women is 27.78 years, average age of men is 28.19 years.
