The reflection of war and notion of duty and dignity in A.L.Tennyson's The Charge of the Light Brigade in comparison with selected poems of The First World War

The main theme of this thesis is English war poetry. The thesis refers to two particular wars, the Crimean (1853-1856) and World War One (1914-1918), and analyzes their reflection in English poetry. By doing so, it compares the war poems from these periods and inspects the writers' messages behind them. The thesis aims to scrutinize how the depiction of war had changed through time, alongside with the reasons affected it. In terms of structure, the theoretical part describes the different contexts (historical, cultural, and literary) of the chosen poems, while the practical part features scrutiny of these works. Education of members of the Army of the Czech Republic using e-learning

1 ABSTRACT The aim of this thesis is to describe the issue of e-learning education of the Army of the Czech Republic (hereinafter referred to as AČR) and to examine how effective this method of teaching is in relation to the needs of the target group. The work is devoted to the issue of education of AČR soldiers and describes several important aspects of the learning process. In this work, the emphasis is put on the interconnection of the educational process and the real-life of AČR soldiers. It takes into account the ethical and moral components of the learning process and focuses on the demand for individualization in the learning process. Furthermore, the work describes the issue of e-learning. Its advantages and shortcomings and focuses on the adequacy of introducing this educational resource in relation to the needs and demands placed on the AČR soldiers. The research part of the thesis aims to explore the effectiveness of e-learning in the educational process of AČR soldiers and tries to reveal possible shortcomings of this type of education. Furthermore, the thesis analyzes whether e-learning, as a means of education, fulfills the attributes of the way of education mentioned above.

Historical view of the care of war veterans in Czechoslovakia after 1989

This thesis maps the area of care for war veterans in Czechoslovakia after the revolutionary year 1989. Individual chapters focus on a specific area of care. There is specified the term war veteran and a description of care for each category of veterans - from the Second World War to the modern. We support veterans who have a company and an institution and work at work under the guidance of one of the chapters. It also involves working with a document of the Ministry of Defense and a questionnaire survey, which evaluates the effectiveness of this document in connection with the request of war veterans. At the end of the thesis there are data of interrogation queries across the society, ie the lay public, soldiers in active service and veterans themselves. Comparison of physical fitness grading in Czech soldiers in years 2008-2015.

Title: Comparison of the results of the annual examination of professional soldiers in years 2008-2015. Aim: The aim of the thesis is to describe the grades of the annual examination of physical training of professional soldiers (VZP) in 2008-2015 before and after the introduction of a new system of physical performance evaluation. The monitored group consists of soldiers and soldiers of the Army of the Czech Republic (ACR), who are subordinate to the Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Republic Army. The secondary aim of the thesis is a longitudinal comparison of the individual performances in the annual testing tests in the years 2011 to 2015 in the 43th Airborne Battalion. We will find out the results of VZP in the period we have determined, focusing on age categories. Methods: This is a quantitative study. A comparison of the percentages of individual marks over the years is performed using the Pearson chi- square test. Due to the size of the research population, the statistical comparison is performed on a random sample from the research sample (N = 500 test subjects). Czech soldier's values and the change in them as a result of experiencing the Islamic culture in Afghanistan

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of the value system of soldier operating in foreign operation in Afghanistan. The theoretical part deals with the overall context of foreign operations in Afghanistan. The main chapter is focused on clarifying the definition of "the values" and elaborates in detail what values are important in the Czech society, respectively for the soldier himself. The practical part contains a narrative story of a soldier who participated in military operations in Afghanistan, and its exploration using interpretative phenomenological analysis. The work brings a probe into the experience of the ACR soldier in connection with his participation abroad. It tries to give testimony about what a soldier deployed in foreign operations facing and how strong he influence on him and his values system this experience had.
Military Chaplaincy in the Czechoslovak Army in the years 1918?1939 with special emphasis on the Roman Catholic Church

This dissertation deals with the history of military chaplaincy in the space of the historic Czech lands. It mainly focuses interwar period of the independent Czechoslovak Republic. The first part of this work deals with the history of activities of military clergymen until the time of founding of the First Republic and briefly passes through a period of many centuries. Then it informs about founding of Czechoslovak Army after year 1918. It notes especially the receipt and development of military chaplaincy until the reorganization of the armed forces in the thirties. Also, it informs about the development in a stable chaplaincy and about its general organization, both in peacetime and in time of the state of emergency. The next section informs about the activities of chaplains in different specific environments. The most comprehensive fifth chapter is dedicated to the life stories of individual chaplains. The consequential part shows life and work of the last chief of military chaplains General Jaroslav Janák. These biographies are key resources for understanding the real duty life of catholic military priests. This dissertation is primarily compiled on the bases of archive resources.
Israeli National Identity in the songs of Naomi Shemer

This thesis aims at describing motives of Israeli national identity, as shown in lyrics of Israeli lyricist and composer No'omi Shemer (1930-2004) in her songs written until 1967. The first chapter presents history of Hebrew ideological songs from the end of 19th century to 1960's. The second chapter examines biographical events and political events of No'omi Shemer that are relevant for understanding of her writings. Next, methods and analyses of Shemer's lyrics by Michael Gadish, which to certain extent influenced this thesis, are explained. In this chapter, the relationship between No'omi Shemer's writings and Israeli national identity of her time is also shown. The last chapter focuses on the most prevalent motives of Shemer's lyrics, namely, the Biblical motives, the motive of a soldier and the motive of building. Each motive is presented in a subchapter, which demonstrates how Shemer dealt with them. The thesis contains visual attachments as evidence of the said motives being relevant to Israeli culture of Shemer's time. In the conclusion, the thesis seeks to examine reasons for the said motives being prominent in Israeli culture and national identity of the period.
Julius Henry of Saxe-Lauenburg (1586-1665). Builder of a military career, of a landed dominion and of the eighth wonder of the world

This bachelor thesis is focused on Julius Henry of Saxe-Lauenburg, an aristocrat from a large family from Lower Saxony, who converted to Catholicism and made a career in the Emperor's army as one of Wallenstein's officers. He gained some large confiscated estates in west Bohemia. Thanks to his wedding politics he became one of the richest aristocrats in the country after the Thirty Year's War. He founded famous gardens around his residences, especially the one in Ostrov, which was called the eight world's wonder. During his long live he acted as an emissary and diplomat, mostly representing the Emperor in the court of the Elector of Saxony. His financial and social capital enabled him to rank high among the czech aristocracy, even though he came to the Catholic Habsburg Monarchy from a Protestant social enviroment.
