Lone-parent family households in Czech and Slovak Republic after 1970 in the context of socio-economic and demographic development. Abstract This paper introduces the topic of families and households. The shift of attitudes and social values which are connected with single-parent family households is studied based on statistical surveys. This work elaborates changes in number and structure of single-parent family households in Czech and Slovak Republic since 1970 till present. The first part outlines the view of experts on a broad concept of family and the family cycle. The next part evaluates the long-term evolution of marriage, divorce, fertility and changes in society values. The changes in society values are correlated with formation, structure and number of single parent family households in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic before and after 1990. Methods of analysis of seasonality in demografy Gabriela Myšáková Abstract The thesis presents statistical methods suited for analysis of seasonality in time-series. Three statistical methods have been thoroughly described, namely the time-series decomposition, the X12−ARIMA method and the cointegration of time-series. Further methods applicable for similar analysis have been briefly discussed as well. Three main methods have been subsequently applied to monthly demographic data for the Czech Republic and chosen European countries by natality, nuptiality and mortality. Seasonality has been discovered in all three demographic events and by using the time-series decomposition and the X12−ARIMA method for time-series lay out to separate units, and those progressions have been track by graphic and verbal interpretation. Cluster analysis has been applied to European countries nuptiality and mortality time-series in order to reveal similarities and dissimilarities among particular countries. All the methods were used onto data set by using appropriate procedures in statistical software SAS.

Nuptiality in some european countries at the end of the 20th century Abstract The aim of this study is to analyze the regional differences of nuptiality in Europe in the last part of the 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st century. Six states were chosen, each of them should represent specific marriage pattern and area of Europe. It focuses not only on the development of individual indicators of nuptiality, but also causes of changes in marriage behavior and factors that affect the marriage rate. The first part of the study describes the characteristics of family and marriage, including changes of looking at these two institutions over time. Next new theories explaining the attitudes of contemporary society to institution of marriage are presented. The recent changes of marriage patterns can be explained mainly by postponing marriage to higher ages and reducing the intensity of nuptiality.

Differentiation of marital and reproductive behavior in East Kazakhstan Abstract This study primarily addresses nuptiality and fertility patterns among youth in East Kazakhstan region. The data are obtained from censuses, vital statistics and survey "Marital and reproductive behavior of young women in Ust-Kamenogorsk". The survey data collection has been supported by Center of International programs of Kazakhstan "Bolashak" and Charles University in Prague. The aim of the thesis is to study marital and reproductive behavior in East Kazakhstan region, in particular, differentials by sex, age, nationality and place of residence. Nuptiality and fertility rates have increased in the region during the study period. Hence, the impact of external socio-economic factors on marital and reproductive behavior of population was analyzed. Nuptiality of the population in the Czech Republic

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the process of nuptiality of the population of the Czech Republic. The goal is to analyze and evaluate the demographic process not only in terms of time, but also from the perspective of space at the level of regions and districts of the Czech Republic. On account of studied literature, nuptiality is examined from several perspectives. In terms of intensity of marriages, the number of marriages is analyzed, as well as the related crude marriage rate. In terms of timing of marriages, the average marriage age of the bride and groom is studied along with their age at the first marriage. In terms of homogamy and heterogamy marital status of engage couple, ethnic composition and structure of education of brides and groom sis analyzed. There is also an attempt to explain the reasons for changes in individual characteristics. Analysis and the obtained results are presented via maps, charts and tables.
The Nuptiality and divorces - Progress from 1970 to these days and comparison with advanced states of EU

The Bachelor's Thesis is focused to the analysis of nuptiality and divorces since 1970. This thesis explains a both demographic processes, indicators and theirs levels and structures. The progress of marriages and divorces is shown by specifically indicators since 1970 to these days. Work outlines existence of seasonality in nuptiality by month and days in week. These present values help to compare with other European country and help to find out condition of Czech Republic. In conclusion, Thesis mentions financial instruments to increase motivation and amount of marriages.
Comparison of nuptiality and divorce rates in selected European countries

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the trends of nuptiality and divorce rates in selected countries and the subsequent comparison of these demographic events using appropriate indicators. Hereafter also finding the reasons for the different trends and comparison of the impact of the identified factors on the behavior of the population. Analysis is comparing three countries (Czech Republic, Spain and Sweden), with regard to nuptiality and divorce rates in the timeframe starting 1990 and ending 2012. The data used for the calculation of the characteristics have been drawn mainly from the European Statistical Office, or from national statistical offices of individual countries in cases when the main source does not provide the necessary data.
Marital status as a differentiating factor in demographic behavior

Diploma thesis explores the diversity of demographic behavior depending on marital status and is aimed at summarizing the effect of marital status on demographic behavior as a whole. The first phase deals with the concepts of impact of marital status on demographic behavior, explains the theory of selection and causality and outlines the historical development of nuptiality and divorce by using basic indicators. The practical part is based on the results of Population and Housing Censuses during the period 1961-2011 and compares the changes in the structure of the Czech population by sex, age and marital status between censuses. Emphasis is placed on the period after 1990. Furthermore, in separate chapters is mapped out how marital status affects demographic processes of fertility, abortion, nuptiality and mortality. In the case of fertility exploration is emphasized increasing extramarital fertility, as more and more children are born outside marriage, especially to single mothers. By using age-specific and standardized rates are analyzed changes in the development of individual demographic processes between censuses for all categories of marital status. Standardization of mortality for the years 1961, 1970 and 1980 is made on the basis of the formation of shortened life tables and the subsequent modeling of mortality at higher ages. In connection of changing structure of the population by marital status, as the proportion of unmarried and divorced people is growing and the share of people living in a marriage is decreasing, is judged attitude of the Czech public toward marriage and family according to surveys results available.
Analysis of nuptiality and divorce rate in Czech Republic and selected countries of European Union

This thesis is focused on two demographic processes -- nuptiality and divorce rate. The goal of this thesis is to analyze past, present and future development of nuptiality and divorce rate in Czech Republic and to draw a comparison between this development and the development in selected countries of European Union. The evaluation of the past and present development is made by using selected indicators of nuptiality and divorce rate. The forecast of the future development is obtained by using the Box-Jenkins methodology. The comparison of nuptiality and divorce rate in Czech Republic and in selected countries of European Union (Italy, Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden) is to be found in the last chapter of this thesis.

This bachelor thesis is aimed on analysis of marriage and divorce in Czech republic and other European Union countries. For this analysis we use the latest data from the European Statistical Office. Using this analysis to determine whether there are related to the extent marriage, divorce, depending on the type of establishment and national socio-economic level of those states.
