The targeting of readers by the press is illustrated by descriptions of the political climate and specific historical events. The thesis links language, history and wartime politics. By drawing on academic literature, the author describes the historical context preceding the Second World War, focusing on political events and press bans. Selected key wartime events are linked to linguistic analysis. The National Socialist ideology, led by Adolf Hitler, assists in demonstrating the origins of the typical features of National Socialist language. The newspapers themselves, Völkischer Beobachter, and selected linguistic and pragmatic phenomena are also described. The selected examples were chosen on the basis of a search in the Völkischer Beobachter and subsequent analysis. The linguistic analysis consists of a lexicological classification into linguistic devices of emotionality, expressivity, metaphor, metonymy and idiomatic expressions. The pragmatic devices as communication strategies and...

Peroutková, Anna-Marie ; Kyncl, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Smetana, Vít (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the influence of Nazi propaganda on the Olympic Games in 1936. It describes the preparation and organization of the Winter Olympic Games in Garmisch- Partenkirchen and the Summer Olympic Games in Berlin. The main goal of the thesis is to find out whether the regime of the organizing country influenced the course of such an important sporting event and possibly to what extent. The Nazis were originally opposed to the idea of hosting the Olympic Games, but eventually came to the conclusion that this was a unique opportunity to present the Third Reich in the best light and gain the favour of world opinion and depict a positive image of Germany. After Adolf Hitler came to power, over time, sport was identified as one of the priorities of Nazi education, which was to strengthen and prepare the German youth for the future war. During this time, Jews were increasingly expelled from society and became second-class. Their fate in Germany provoked a wave of resentment abroad. Despite numerous boycotts of the Olympic Games, however, a record number of states and athletes took part in the Olympics in Germany. The representatives of the participating States were reassured by the promise of equal conditions for all participants in the Games. This pushed the Jewish question into...

Language and Reality
Bárta, Ondřej ; Kučera, Jan (advisor) ; Kučera, Rudolf (referee)
This thesis tries to explore how ideologies, namely the national socialism, work. It is based on the presumption that the reality as we experience it, is impacted by the language that we use to describe it. Thus, in accord with the philosophy of Eric Voegelin, it claims that to understand a specific society in its authenticity, it is necessary to examine the means of the language that is used to categorize the world. And it is precisely Voegelins expressions, symbolism and order, that are good instruments to explain the fact that even the nacis created such "reality" that was capable to exclude masses of people from the sphere of moral reciprocity, using a language that refers to a certain view of the world.

Háka, Antonín ; Dvořáková, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Rataj, Jan (referee) ; Mareš, Miroslav (referee)
The Worker´s Party of Social Justice is the most significant far right party in the Czech Republic. This work deals with its ideological basis while emphasis is placed on the conception of nation and the attitude towards the political systém and a charakterization of its development too. The first two chapters focus on the analysis of the predecessor: the Worker's Party which in its third phase adopted the German national socialism from the National Democratic Party of Germany. Within the new approach it adopted the notion of white Europeanism which is a contemporaty Aryan rase. The second two chapters contain the analyses of ideological postulates of the Worker's Party of Social Justice which continues to co-operate with the National Democratic Party of Gemany and to adopt its attitudes and strategy. The basis of identity of the Worker's Party of Social Justice is white Europeanism which is common for all native European nations. Incompatibility of some of its attitudes with the values of representative democracy makes it an anti-system party.
