Influence of Discounts on Customer´s Shopping Behavorial

The master's thesis deals with promotional discounts of retail chains focusing on a description of factors that affect customers in selection of a shopping place to purchase food and beverages and identifies the level of influence of promotional discounts on purchase decisions. This thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part contains fundamental resources, that are enriched by findings of foreign case studies. It focuses on consumers behavior and purchase decisions emphasizing the influence of prices and special offers. The practical part consists of secondary research of current trends in shopping behavior of Czech consumers, primary analysis of the action flyers and research focused on describing the attitudes of consumers towards the retail chains and identifying the impact of promotional discounts on purchasing food products. The recommendations for marketing activities of retail chains are formulated based on the results of the analysis.

The organic food in retail chains on the Czech market

The thesis 'The organic food in retail chains on the Czech market' is concerned with the position of organic food in Czech retailing. The aim of the thesis is to discover the interest of Czech consumers in the assortment of organic food offered in retail chains in Czech Republic. In addition, the thesis focuses on the characterisation of the environment of private labels of these chains and on the interest of consumers of organic food in these private labels. The first chapter describes the theory of brand and the importance to its practical application in marketing. This chapter also concerns with the theory of private labels and their significance for retail chains. The second chapter concerns with the organic farming and its product, organic food. The aim of this part of the thesis is to describe the rules and principles of the production of organic food and the specific qualities of organic food. The last chapter analyses the present situation of the distribution of organic food in retail chains and incorporates the assessment of the questionnaire survey which was conducted among the consumers of organic food. The conclusion includes the results of the research and final recommendations.

The main objective of this diploma thesis was to evaluate the economic situation in the selected retail chain, which is operating in the market of the Czech Republic. Then the Retail chain Tesco was elected for this purpose. To achieve these objectives the detailed financial analysis was realized and the intercompany comparison with competitors of this retailer was also used.

The Diploma thesis ,Selected aspects of the retail supplier-purchaser relations' defines British grocery retailing. It presents government bodies which regulate retail industry and important independent not-for-profit organizations which have a strong influence on the market situation. It introduces the reader into legislation which regulates supplier-purchaser relations, particularly the Supermarket Code of Practice and its revised version the Groceries Supply Code of Practice. The analytical part examines the British market at the macroeconomical level, outlines the grocery retailing structure, describes the supply chain, customer behaviour, points out certain pricing and product policy trends and presents subjects which are bonded by the provisions set out in the Groceries Supply Code of Practice. The findings on local market competition and barriers which prevent the entry by a competitor are of a high significance as well. Despite the introduction of legal regulation the supplier-purchaser relations remain unequal and unfair. The thesis proposes a forecast of possible future grocery market development in the United Kingdom.
