To Finish the Body of the City

The subject of the assignment was the design of a multifunctional house or a set of houses and adjacent public spaces in the town of Louny, located in the Ústí nad Labem region less than an hour's drive from the capital city of Prague. The plot is located on the very edge of the historical centre of Louny between the more traffic-exposed Osvoboditelů Street, Na Valích Street and Komenského Square. Currently there is a parking lot which serves the residents. However, the plot has much greater potential due to its location in relation to the historic centre and traffic connections. The theme of my work is to focus on a form of affordable housing that should expand the number of apartments in the urban housing stock of Louny while meeting the needs of its residents, connecting them and offering them opportunities to benefit from shared housing and the location of the house close to the centre. Giving them the opportunity to create a community, to meet and hold events in shared interior and exterior spaces, but also providing its residents with a sufficient amount of privacy. One of the goals is also to create an affordable housing development that does not have the stigma of being the cheapest development, but offers its residents a pleasant place to live, sets a new trend, and its appearance reflects its relationship to the downtown. The aim of the design was to create a structure that opens up to the city, offering new facilities for its residents, while providing sufficient comfort, security and dignity of living for the house's inhabitants. The community events of the house are therefore relatively hidden from the public, but at the same time allow anyone to enter the space. The project also focuses on the individual needs of groups of people. Using certain principles, I try to help the community life of the residents in the most natural way possible, so that at the same time the privacy of individuals is preserved.

Associational life in the town of Louny since 1861 till 1914

The objective of my work is to describe associational life in the town of Louny since 1861 to 1914. The years correspond with the year of "October Diploma" issue (1861), resp. the outbreak of World War I. (1914). In the first passages I tried to show the development of the town in the second half of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century from the urbanistic, demographical, industrial and political point of view. All these aspects influenced the associational life there. After the outline of the development of the associational life within the monarchy I aimed at it in Louny. I introduced various types of active notable local personalities in the profiles of Josef Havránek, the representative of the beginning of associational life; long-standing mayor Dr. Petr Hilbert, the owner of the local spa Josef Krýzl and extraordinary socially active woman Mrs Kristýna Ehrlichová. Then I aimed at associational activities in the town. I divided many of the societies into subchapters according to the prevailing orientation: choral dramatic and educational societies, walking and hiking, sport, womens' groups, Jewish associations and amusement societies. Sport activities among students of primary school and high school in Louny

Title: Sport activities among students of primary school and high school in Louny Objectives: Bachelor thesis is about research of sport activities among students of high school and primary school in Louny. The aim of this thesis is to find out in which sports are students engaged and what are the main motivators and bariers in sport. With regard to the local sport situation, we want to find out in which sports are students interested in and alternatively they would like to try it. Methods: Sport activities among students has been investigated by using a questionnaire survey. The questionnaire was realized in written form. Results: Results of this survey has shown that the level of sport activity among student of high school and primary school is high. Compared to 2010, sport situation has improved. Frequency of doing sport has increased. Despite the particular problems, student are rather satisfied with the local sport situation. The Economic Impacts of Regional Development Support

This Bachelor´s thesis entitled The Economic Impact of Supporting Regional Development is concerned with a summary of the problem of unemployment, the employment market, and salary evolution/development in the Louny district. This is one of the key themes of the current and also future economy of the state. The problem of unemployment affects the whole of society and each individual separately.
The objective of this thesis is to identify and evaluate the economic impact of supporting regional development, evaluate the knowledge gained, warn about the problems discovered in the district and deduce recommendations, which would lead to an impovement in the situation in the selected district of Louny.
In the thesis, a summary and evaluation of the current state of selected demographic, socioeconomic and economic aspects of regional development support in the Louny area has been carried out. An important part of the work is the analysis of secondary sources and the analysis of secondary sources data, this data was subjected to quantitative research. During writing the thesis qualitative research was carried out by interviewing. Not the least part was the use of the synthesis of knowledge method and also the evaluation of the theoretical and practical parts of the thesis.
From the results of the survey it is clear that unemployment in the region has been above the national average for a long time. However, recently positive developments have been registered. In order to continue that trend, improved communication between the Employment Office and existing employers, and also attracting new investors to the region is recommended.

Citizen participation in community activities

This Bachelor thesis on the Citizen participation in community activities deals with the applicable legislation of the forms of the citizen participation in community activities and afterwards it evaluates the system of the citizen participation in governance in the city of Louny and gives proposals and recommendations for higher extent of the citizen participation. The first chapter comprises a legal entity status of municipalities, their scope of authority and characteristic of particular administrative bodies. The second chapter deals with a definition of basic terms and an analysis of specific ways of the citizen participation. The third chapter, falling within the practical part of this bachelor thesis, is concerned with an analysis of a voter turnout and the established ways of citizen participation in the city of Louny and proposes further alternatives of cooperation between the city and its citizens.
